AbstractLaryngeal carsinoma is the common head and neck cancer. More than 90% of laryngeal cancers are squamous cell carcinoma, if the early detected the cure rate can the better. Radiotherapy is the modality for treatment of laryngeal carcinoma in the early stages to preserve the organ and voice of the patient. The clinical diagnosis is made based on history of illness, physical examination and anatomical pathology examination. Reported One case, man 61 year old, diagnosed with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma keratinized well differiamted stage IB (T1bN0M0) treated by radiotherapy. Keywords:  Glottic squamous cell carsinoma, early stage, radiotherapy.

Laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) is the most common malignant head and neck cancer, with a 40% recurrence rate in the first 3 years after radical treatment. Recurrence of LSCC mostly comprises lymphogenous metastasis, hematogenic metastasis, and locoregional recurrence, while LSCC seeding is rarest: there are only 4 cases reported in PubMed, and none of them is one of subcutaneous seeding. We report a case with post-surgery subcutaneous seeding of LSCC. The final biopsy demonstrated that the subcutaneous seeding of the LSCC was 2 cm away from the primary lesion, with no recurrent foci observed in the larynx and tracheostoma and little relation to the primary lesion. Thus, we drew the conclusion that LSCC surgeries should stick to the principle of the non-tumor technique to prevent subcutaneous seeding.

A 71-year-old man presented to our otolaryngology clinic with dysphagia and dyspnoea. He had a history of smoking for 40 years. Laryngoscopy showed an exophytic, round mass on the left aryepiglottic fold that was entirely excised by transoral laser CO2 microsurgery. Histological assessment revealed a pT1 basaloid squamous cell carcinoma (BSCC) with free-margin resection. He underwent close follow-up and after 3-year follow-up, the patient was free from disease. Laryngeal BSCC is a rare cancer with poor prognosis due to its late diagnosis and early neck node metastases. We report a rare case of early tumour treated by endoscopic surgery without complications or recurrence of disease. However, knowing this type of cancer and making a correct differential diagnosis are important to guarantee the best therapy and prognosis.

Abstract It is known that lncRNA PTCSC3 inhibits thyroid cancer and glioma and STAT3 promotes cancer development. We, in the present study, investigated the potential involvement of PTCSC3 in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) and explored its interactions with STAT3. In the present study, we showed that plasma PTCSC3 was down-regulated in early stage LSCC patients, and the down-regulation of PTCSC3 separated in early stage LSCC patients from control group. LncRNA HOTAIR was up-regulated in early stage LSCC patients and was significantly and inversely correlated with PTCSC3 in LSCC patients. PTCSC3 overexpression led to the inhibition of HOTAIR, while PTCSC3 expression was not significantly affected by HOTAIR overexpression. PTCSC3 overexpression mediated the inhibited, while HOTAIR overexpression mediated the promoted proliferation of LSCC cells. However, cell invasion and migration were not significantly affected by PTCSC3 overexpression. In addition, HOTAIR overexpression reduced the inhibitory effects of PTCSC3 overexpression on cancer cell proliferation. Moreover, PTCSC3 overexpression mediated the down-regulation of STAT3 and STAT3 overexpression mediated the up-regulation of HOTAIR. Therefore, PTCSC3 may negatively interact with HOTAIR through STAT3 to inhibit LSCC cell proliferation.

Approximately 7 cases of spontaneous regression of adult laryngeal carcinoma have been published in the literature since 1900. This case presents a 62-year-old male with a 6-month history of hoarseness who was subsequently diagnosed with a T1aN0M0 left true vocal fold squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) after biopsy. One month following the initial biopsy, histopathological findings on repeat biopsy revealed absence of malignancy and regression of the tumor without radiation. There has been no evidence of tumor recurrence. This case exemplifies how innate immune modulation may play a role in the spontaneous regression of laryngeal SCC, although the mechanism remains unknown.
