Jackfruit is one of tropical fruit that is widespread in the world. Jackfruit fruit had a seasonal charachteristic and very perishable, so it needed to be further processed. One of the fruit chips producers in Malang SJ produced defects in jackfruit chips that were broken 74.5% of all defects types in 2014. Six Sigma method can be applied to evaluate the quality of jackfruit chips. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of jackfruit chips with Six Sigma - Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve (DMAI) so that it was known the Sigma of production, the main factors causing the defect, the priority proposed improvement, and the alternative using of jackfruit. The result of quality evaluation obtained by Sigma of production is 2.05. Factors that cause broken of jackfruit chips were machine, material, human, and methods. Priority improvements were made by resetting rotation speed of spinner according to the standard, completed the spinner’s standard operational procedure (SOP) and selecting the right jackfruit. Jackfruit from Malang can be an alternative raw material because it produces more whole jackfruit chips.

How the implementation of Lean Six Sigma in manufacturing production companies in the global environment can positively affect innovation, quality, education, productivity, standard of living, and ethics is discussed in this chapter. Examples by notables like Dr. W. Edwards Deming and the Chegg Study point out a serious misalignment between what is actually needed in manufacturing production worker skill sets and what is available. The chapter demonstrates the interconnectivity of, and responsibility for, the welfare of citizens of the world. It shows how Lean Six Sigma implementation can influence Gross National Product and Gross Domestic Product, which in turn determine quality of life for a nation's citizens. The chapter offers solutions like fostering industry, academics, and government relationships for the abatement of problems such as less government funding for public education and equipping college students with the right skill sets for more complex jobs in manufacturing production industries.

Engineering education all over the world is of paramount importance as it is this education which provides economies with opportunities for development and growth. Engineering education is important for both developed and developing economies—for the former to maintain their lead position and for the latter to ensure decent livelihood and utilization of natural resources. In such a situation, engineering education needs to continuously upgrade itself to meet the ever changing needs of the economy, society, and mankind. Hence, understanding engineering education and reviewing the methods and standards are important if all stakeholders have to be satisfied. With the driving force of the globalization of the engineering profession, adopting project-based teaching methods have mutual recognition across the world, and also help to develop the right graduate attributes while continuing to assure the standards and quality of engineering education.

The right–left dimension is ubiquitous in politics, but prior perspectives provide conflicting accounts of whether cultural and economic attitudes are typically aligned on this dimension within mass publics around the world. Using survey data from ninety-nine nations, this study finds not only that right–left attitude organization is uncommon, but that it is more common for culturally and economically right-wing attitudes to correlate negatively with each other, an attitude structure reflecting a contrast between desires for cultural and economic protection vs. freedom. This article examines where, among whom and why protection–freedom attitude organization outweighs right–left attitude organization, and discusses the implications for the psychological bases of ideology, quality of democratic representation and the rise of extreme right politics in the West.

Vinegar is one of the oldest fermented products in the world and its production dates back to around 2000 BC. It is a liquid fermentation product that consists from 4% to 9% acetic acid, which is commonly used and consumed globally, either directly or as a condiment in food. It is produced by two-stage fermentation systems, i.e., the alcoholic fermentation of sugary substrates and subsequently, the acetous fermentation (oxidation) of the ethanol into acetic acid. There are numerous different types of vinegars produced worldwide based on the raw material and the production method used. Among all the vinegars available, the most common types of vinegar, produced in different parts of the world, and including some top-quality famous products, are “cider vinegar,” “balsamic vinegar,” “wine vinegar,” “rice vinegar,” and “malt vinegar.” Tropical fruit vinegars and vinegars made from any kind of agricultural surpluses are also available. The different raw materials and the methods used for the production of the different types of vinegars lead to a variety of products with distinctive characteristics. In this paper, definitions, local market and legislation and current trends in vinegar production are briefly highlighted and discussed.

Some studies show that melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) seed extract contains various active ingredients that are beneficial to human health; even it has been commercialized as a health supplement product. Quality of seeds as raw material becomes one of key factors that determine the quality of product derived from melinjo seed extract. Therefore sorting becomes a critical process. However the sorting of good quality and broken seeds (moldy, chalky and perforated/infected insects) is still done manually with visual observations that tend to be inaccurate and inconsistent. This study aims to develop a new method for evaluation of quality of melinjo seeds based on digital image processing. The image is taken using two lighting systems i.e. frontlight and backlight. The results show that using color features (RGB and HSV) and certain threshold values, good quality and broken seeds can be distinguished by 92.5% and 100% accuracy using frontlight and backlight image respectively. It indicates that digital image processing can be used as an alternative for quality evaluation of melinjo seed.

The competences of the test and calibration laboratories are provided by two complementary methods. The first of these methods is the on-site audit carried out by the administrative and technical committee established by TURKAK (Turkish Accreditation Institution) according to the requirements of TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 [1]. The other technique is interlaboratory comparison and proficiency testing to evaluate laboratory performance and ensure the quality of results. Investing in the right equipment, training personnel, defining methods, documenting, calculating uncertainty, even performing internal verifications do not guarantee reliability or accuracy. It cannot answer the question of whether we can produce the same results as the same testers in the world. It is necessary to prove that the laboratory can actually produce accurate results externally by going through comparison tests with other national/international laboratories.

"You know that importance of education and the right type cannot be over-emphasised.... It" we are to make real, speedy and substantial progress. We must earnestly tackle this question ... having regard to the modern conditions and vast developments that have taken place all over the world". Quaid-i-Azam Pakistan was created in the name of Islam under the outstanding leadership of Quaid-i-Azam. The Quran placed great emphasis on education. The Quaid as quoted above also highlighted its importance for the new nation. Unfortunately, despite high and repeated rhetoric, education remained the most neglected aspect of national life during the last half century. The literacy level are low, the female literacy levels are among the lowest in the world and the lowest in the Muslim countries. The emphasis in education is still on a general and liberal type of B.A. or M.A. degree. The change towards scientific and technical education has still not taken place. The quality of education is low; the teachers are under-paid, under-trained and dispirited. The students are apathetic as they see no relationship between education and higher earnings or status in the society.

The high potential of damaged tomatoes during postharvest is one of the mostly faced problem in satisfying costumer expectation. Postharvest handling is the final step that required to maintain good quality of tomatoes.
