The XI all-Russian scientific and practical conference of heads and specialists of information services on culture and art "Information context of culture: resources, technologies, service", organized by the Russian state library, the Russian state library of arts and the St. Petersburg state Institute of culture, was held in Moscow. It was attended by more than 90 representatives of the cultural authorities, Federal, Central regional and municipal libraries, universities and training centers for training, as well as other institutions of culture, science, education, media and bookselling 24 regions of theRussian Federation. Thanks to online broadcasts, the total audience of the event increased by almost 200 people. Heads and specialists of the national libraries ofArmenia,BelarusandKazakhstantook part in the event via video link. The program included 36 reports and presentations. They were presented at a special session "Year of theatre in the library", Round table" national library as a center of information on culture and art", section "Information potential of cultural organizations in the implementation of the state cultural policy". As a result of such events, the Russian state library publishes collections of materials. The last one was released in 2018.

The article is devoted to the memories of the talented work of Eduard Rubenovich Sukiasyan (1937—2021) — the greatest library scientist in Russia, one of the developers and later Editor-in-Chief of the Library Bibliographic Classification (LBC). The author traces his professional path as prominent theorist and practitioner of librarianship. The article presents information about the work of E.R. Sukiasyan in the V.I. Lenin State Library of the USSR (now the Russian State Library, RSL), as well as the compiler and member of the Editorial Board of the “Dictionary of Library Terms”. The author considers his contribution to the reorganization of the RSL system of catalogues as the Head of the Department of systematic and subject catalogues. Eduard Rubenovich enjoyed the well-deserved love of students of the Academy of Retraining of Workers of Art, Culture and Tourism. E.R. Sukiasyan was an active participant in the public library movement, the member of the Council of the Russian Library Association. He made great contribution to the activities of the International Society for Knowledge Organization, as well as to the work of the Classification and Indexing Section of the International Federation of Library Organisations and Institutions. E.R. Sukiasyan is the author of over one thousand scientific papers.

On April 21—23, 2021, the Russian State Library (RSL) hosted the International scientific and practical conference “Rumyantsev Readings”, which is one of the largest annual library events. The conference traditionally raises issues of preserving and studying the world cultural heritage, promotes intercultural interaction. In 2021, it covered a wide range of issues of theory and practice of library science, bibliography science, and bibliology. The participants are specialists of libraries of all levels, from federal to municipal, and various departmental subordination, museums, archives, higher educational institutions and research institutes from 19 regions of Russia, as well as from the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Lithuania and the Republic of Uzbekistan. Broadcasting of the meetings, as well as holding a number of sections and round tables both in face-to-face and zoom-conference format, significantly increased the audience coverage. The Rumyantsev Readings attracted the highest number of remote participants (2,427 connections), that determined the relevance of the conference in modern conditions. Three hundred and one participants attended the conference personally.The rich program included a plenary session, 13 round tables, seminars, and sections. The following sections were organised at the Rumyantsev Readings: “Library in the modern world: accessibility in the period of restrictions”; “Information and bibliographic activity: theory and practice”; “Collectors, researchers, curators. Libraries and museums in the context of history”; “Art Publications in the collections of libraries. Creation, existence, study”; “Specialized collections (printed music and maps) in the library holdings”; “Manuscript sources in the collections of libraries”; “Rare books and book monuments”; “Theory and practice of library science”; “Library classification systems”. As part of the pre-session meeting of the 32nd Section on Library Management and Marketing of the Russian Library Association, there was a round table “Social networking activity of libraries: how to record and report (methodological approaches and solutions)”. There were also the following events: a round table a “The Register of book monuments: government database of recording and registration and scientific research resource”, an expert session “Actual problems of formation of digital competencies of learners in the library and information sphere” and a scientific and practical seminar “Actual heritage” devoted to the 150th birth anniversary of L.B. Khavkina. The publishing house of the Russian State Library “Pashkov Dom” has released the conference proceedings.

Russian State Library has the status of depository library of several international organizations and works on the basis of partnership and cooperation with the UN Information Centre and offices of other international organizations in Moscow.The paper highlights the experience of the RSL Center of Legal Information in providing access to the authoritative international organizations information on the base of the new technological platform and a new concept of library and information services.The description and the main functions and trends of activities of a new specialized reading room for the documents of international organizations in the Russian State Library which will be opened in the nearest future are also represented in this article.
