This study aims to tackle the effects of using enjoyable and efficient teaching methods, in Mathematics on students’ academic achievement. It also attempts to thoroughly follow pupils’, rising social competency due to enjoying their teachers’ modern and thrilling techniques in class. The study assessed (38) female students, from grade six, the chosen sample followed the highlighted purposes to this study. Then, they were separated into an experimental group, of 20 students that were exposed to the efficient teaching methods And the controlled group, of (18) students were exposed to typical and traditional teaching approaches. To achieve this study’s’ targeted goals and objectives, the lesson plans followed the exciting and efficient teaching methods on summative assessment and a social competency scale were added too, to check their consistency, therefore, they were applied after exposing learners to efficient and exciting teaching methods. The results of this study conveyed a difference, with a significant statistical maker and level of (α=0.05) between the score average of both examined groups, the experimental and controlled groups, in the summative assessment in Mathematics, due to using the modern and efficient teaching techniques. The same significant statistical maker and level was found in both of the mentioned groups’ social competency assessment test. To benefit the trial group, this study suggests certain recommendations, like designing activities that mainly follow efficient and exciting teaching techniques, in other units, in Mathematics for they help to develop students’ potential to achieve higher marks and better their social competency This study also encourages Mathematics teachers to apply practical and efficient teaching methods to have an exciting learning experience.

Abstract Background Traditional anatomy teaching methods are based on the models and cadaveric dissections, providing fixed views of the anatomical structures. However, in the last few years, the emerging concept of ultrasound-based teaching in anatomy has started to gain ground among medical curricula. This study aims to evaluate the integration of ultrasound as an adjunct tool to traditional anatomy teaching methods and explore students’ perceptions of whether ultrasound-based teaching enhances their interest and knowledge of anatomy. A cross-sectional study was carried out among the students of the 6-year undergraduate entry (MD) and 4-year graduate entry (MBBS) program of the University of Nicosia. A questionnaire was distributed to them after the delivery of several twenty minutes ultrasound sessions by an expert in the field during anatomy practicals. The data were analyzed utilizing SPSS software, and the statistical significance was determined as p value < 0.05. Results 107 MD and 42 MBBS students completed the questionnaire. Both groups agreed that their ultrasound-based learning experience was good or excellent (79.4% MD students; 92.9% MBBS students), that it enhanced their knowledge of anatomy (68.2% MD students; 90.5% MBBS students) and boosted their confidence regarding their examination skills practice (69.2% MD students; 85.7% MBBS students). Although most students desired more time allocated to the ultrasound station (72% MD students; 85.7% MBBS students), they believed that ultrasound-based teaching is a necessary adjunct to the traditional teaching methods of anatomy (89.7% MD students; 92.9% MBBS students). Conclusions Overall, MBBS students were more confident about the benefits of ultrasound-based teaching. Most of the students agreed that cross-sectional sessions of traditional teaching and ultrasound-based teaching strengthened their knowledge of anatomy and enhanced their confidence concerning their clinical examination skills. Medical schools should embrace the advantages that ultrasound-based teaching offers in order future doctors to be qualified to utilize ultrasound for procedural and diagnostical purposes.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to discuss and present new teaching techniques to advance the concept and the practice of education for sustainable development (SD). Due to the recently introduced 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) and owing their interlinkages and targets, an evolution of the traditional teaching techniques is needed. Design/methodology/approach With the use of a single revelatory case study, this paper presents an example of education for SD goals activity carried out at the University of Torino, focussed on merging SD with the active engagement of students. Findings The empowerment of students happens through a transformative learning experience grounded in the acquisition of managerial soft skills useful in co-creating and co-designing projects to contribute towards SDGs effectively. Practical implications The ultimate goal is to support students to become active citizens in their communities (e.g. starting within the University). Social implications Students learnt about SDGs and the complexities of sustainability, and, at the same time, they learnt valuable tools to contribute to their transformation to develop projects for the benefit of local territories and organizations. Originality/value The paper showcases how transformative learning could be applied to SDGs. Awarded as one of the best practices regarding SD by the Italian Network of Universities for Sustainable Development, the case involves students in a transdisciplinary, creative and open learning environment.

This study strives to answer the question “Do educational video games focusing on language provide a better learning experience than traditional language education?” Research was focused on the differences between the language acquisition and enjoyment that these games provide in contrast to traditional pen-and-paper teaching methods. A literature study showed mixed results as to the effectiveness of these games. A survey, as well as interviews with experts in the field were conducted. This study concluded that while language games are more enjoyable to the student than traditional teaching methods, their use in the classroom does have several disadvantages. This led to the conclusion that while digital language games can be useful teaching tool, they should be used in conjunction with more traditional methods.

Surgical simulation for medical education is increasingly perceived as a valuable addition to traditional teaching methods. Simulators provide a structured learning experience, permitting practice without danger to patients, and simulators facilitate the teaching of rare or unusual cases. Simulators can also be used to provide an objective assessment of skills. This paper is a survey of current surgical simulator systems. The components of a simulator are described, current research directions are discussed, and key research questions are identified.

PurposeThis study aims at integrating two teaching approaches to enhance Lean manufacturing (LM) learning at a graduate course level and verify its effectiveness through comparing students’ performance and learning preferences.Design/methodology/approachThe proposed methodology incorporates problem-based learning (PBL) approach based on real problems of companies undergoing a lean implementation into traditional teaching methods. The methodology was applied with graduate students from a Brazilian public university, whose learning preferences were subsequently identified. The verification of effectiveness is undertaken through a comparative analysis of students’ performance after each course.FindingsThe findings indicate that PBL may be an effective complementary method for LM learning, especially because it exposes students to actual problems when implementing LM. The proposal may improve problem-solving ability and provide a more fertile environment to promote better learning experience. The results are also positively related to the current body of the literature. Finally, because of different students’ learning preferences, PBL alone may not fulfill all students’ cognitive requirements, and hence, traditional teaching methods should not be eradicated from the LM learning process.Originality/valueBecause of an increasingly worldwide competition regarding business performance, LM has been an emerging and relevant subject among engineering and management postgraduate courses. Nevertheless, the practical character inherent to the understanding of LM may undermine learning and development of students. Therefore, studies that verify the effectiveness of the teaching approach may contribute to better prepare students for such demanding context.

AbstractTeaching at higher education institutions in Serbia still relies on traditional ex catedra methods and is mostly based on acquiring factual knowledge, which discourages student participation in the learning process, as well as any initiative on their part. The aim of the paper is to point to the implementation of the traditional ex catedra versus the use of IT-supported teaching methods and techniques. The underlying idea is that professors abilities depend on their familiarity with different teaching methods and techniques, their knowledge of a foreign language, and the use of ICT. The data analysis has confirmed that teachers do differ from each other with respect to their academic titles: senior teachers (associate and full professors) use traditional methods more frequently than younger teachers do. In general, all teachers should incorporate modern trends into their teaching styles, since traditional teaching methods and techniques are used more often than IT-supported ones.Key words: IT-supported teaching; teaching methods; teaching techniques; traditional ex catedra teaching; universities in Serbia---SažetakNa visokokolskim institucijama u Srbiji poučavanje se jo uvijek oslanja na tradicionalne ex catedra metode, većinom se temelji na usvajanju činjeničnoga znanja, čime se studenti obeshrabruju od sudjelovanja u procesu učenja i poduzimanja inicijative. Cilj ovoga rada jest uputiti na upotrebu tradicionalnog ex catedra poučavanja u usporedbi s računalno potpomognutim metodama i tehnikama poučavanja. Smatra se da sposobnosti nastavnika ovise o njihovu poznavanju različitih metoda i tehnika poučavanja, znanja stranoga jezika i upotrebe informacijsko-komunikacijskih tehnologija. Analiza rezultata potvrdila je da se nastavnici međusobno razlikuju s obzirom na akademska zvanja: iskusniji nastavnici (izvanredni i redoviti profesori) čeće se koriste tradicionalnim metodama od njihovih mlađih kolega. Općenito, svi bi nastavnici trebali uključiti moderne trendove u svoje stilove poučavanja, s obzirom na to da se tradicionalne metode i tehnike koriste čeće od onih računalno potpomognutih.Ključne riječi: metode poučavanja; računalno potpomognuto poučavanje; sveučilita u Srbiji; tehnike poučavanja; tradicionalno ex catedra poučavanje.

In order to adapt the requirements for the education of targeted highly qualified talents in the 21st century, it is necessary to develop students ' ability to think scientifically and innovate in teaching. Chemistry is based on experiments, and experiments play an important role in the search for knowledge, mastering the methods of studying science, experiencing the learning process, and developing students ' ability to think scientifically. In this paper, we have described the importance of scientific thinking methods in teaching at the University. How to cultivate students ' methods of scientific thinking, mainly introduced the course of inorganic and analytical chemistry. Stimulate students 'interest in learning, train students' scientific thinking, and make students master the methods of scientific experimentation and the learning experience process by reforming traditional teaching methods and content can effectively improve the efficiency and quality of students learning.
