In the era of agriculture 4.0, cutting-edge technologies including Information and communication technology (ICT) is being introduced into traditional agriculture. As farm intelligence emerges as a key area of smart agriculture, the scope of agriculture has expanded from the seed industry to distribution and logistics, however the area that is still most directly connected to the physical agricultural environment is smart farming. Cybersecurity incidents or cybercrimes in smart farming can directly damage crops and harm human safety. Research on individual technical elements that constitute smart farming has been ongoing for a long time relatively, however it has not been long since the work of systematically identifying and classifying threats to smart agriculture as a whole. In this study, STRIDE threat modeling is used to identify cyber threats to greenhouse and make system design more robust. Through this work, we have derived 126 threats and have created 4 types of attack trees. It will be the basis to allow systematic threat classification more clearly in smart greenhouse.

Technology plays an important role in development, even though it seems that technology has modified certain aspects of it in areas where development is challenging. Telecom has been successfully implemented all over the world. In a developing country like Pakistan, technology can be found in even the most remote villages. Nowadays, a mobile tower can be seen anywhere, and many people use mobile phones. With the help of Information and Communication Technology, this beautiful use of technology has helped growth of almost every profession. Saving crops from diseases has become a major concern for policymakers in the twenty-first century. Countries are also working to increase yields in order to satisfy rising domestic demand and generate exportable surpluses. Farmers fertilize a variety of crops for food, fiber, and hay for their livestock. The available resources are limited and cannot be increased. Different diseases, such as black stem rust of wheat, orange or leaf rust of wheat, fungicides, and others, cause damage to wheat, cotton, maize, and millet, resulting in a marginal to 100% loss in production. All major food crops, such as wheat, cotton, maize, and millet, are continuously attacked by unique diseases, making it difficult to enforce policies or procedures that would improve per-hectare production. There are several apps available for agricultural guidance, but ours is interesting in that it is written in Sindhi, while other apps are written in English. Sindh has a large population, and the female literacy rate was 43% last year, compared to 47% the year before. In contrast to 2012-19, male education in Sindh has decreased from 72% to 67%. So, if a person does not understand the language, how can he be properly guided? That is why we have developed an app in Sindhi

Smart farming (SF) is a relatively new concept referring to the use of information and communication technology in farm management, focusing simultaneously on productivity, profitability, and conservation of natural resources. However, despite the benefits, the adoption rate of some SF technologies has not been uniform in some countries. The aim of this paper was to identify the barriers and determining factors influencing the decisions of grain farmers regarding adopting SF technologies. A sample of farmers in southern Brazil (n=119) was analyzed through descriptive analysis, Logit and Poisson models. The results showed there was no strict pattern in farmers’ profile, especially in terms of socioeconomic characteristics, to explain the adoption of SF technologies as a package. Adoption of some technologies requires more years of education and knowledge about how technology works, other technologies demand more scale. Broadly speaking, SF requires farmers to be open and receptive to this concept of agriculture.

In recent years, the declining and aging population of farmers has become a serious problem. Smart agriculture has been promoted to solve these problems. It is a type of agriculture that utilizes robotics, and information and communication technology to promote labor saving, precision, and realization of high-quality production. In this research, we focused on robots that can harvest tomatoes. Tomatoes are delicate vegetables with a thin skin and a relatively large yield. During automatic harvesting of tomatoes, to ensure the operation of the harvesting arm, an input by image processing is crucial to determine the color of the tomatoes at the time of harvesting. Research on robot image processing technology is indispensable for accurate operation of the arm. In an environment where tomatoes are harvested, obstacles such as leaves, stems, and unripe tomatoes should be taken into consideration. Therefore, in this research, we propose a method of image processing to provide an appropriate route for the arm to ensure easy harvesting, considering the surrounding obstacles.

This paper studies whether and how information and communication technology (ICT) changes self-construal and cultural values in a developing country. Ethiopian children were given laptops in the context of an ICT for development scheme. We compared children who used laptops (n = 69) with a control group without laptops (n = 76) and a second control group of children whose laptop had broken down (n = 24). Results confirmed that after 1 year of laptop usage, the children’s self-concept had become more independent and children endorsed individualist values more strongly. Interestingly, the impact of laptop usage on cultural values was mediated by self-construal (moderated mediation). Importantly, modernization did not “crowd out” traditional culture: ICT usage was not associated with a reduction in traditional expressions (interdependent self-construal, collectivist values). Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

If we want to convert our rural population into knowledge driven, progressive, self sufficient, self reliant, sustainable society, the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT’s) cannot be ignored. Timely availability information is considered as most important factor in Indian agriculture. At present ICT is the technology of this millennium. Transferring the developed technology to all end users is time-consuming and tiresome task and is often not completed due to paucity of resources and lack of manpower. In India, agriculture and rural development has gained significantly from ICT due to its widespread extension and adoption. In this era of internet, ICT is committed to provide real, timely accurate authentic information to the farmers and rural peoples.
