This paper examines the accounting performance of the Islamic banking among (??) commercial banks in Malaysia. A total of 18 commercial banks which include 4 Islamic banks are selected as samples covering the period of 2000 - 2006. Accounting performance is measured by the return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE). The objective of the study is (1) to determine whether Islamic banking performance is at par with the conventional banking and (2) to investigate whether the type (Islamic or conventional bank) and age of bank influence the performance. Result of the independence t-test of the study shows that there is no significant difference in the performance of the Islamic and the conventional banking in Malaysia although the mean score for conventional banking is higher. The regression results show that the age of banks has a positive impact on the bank performance where as none of the types of banks influence performance.

Abstract     Almsgiving is one of the pillars supporting the upholding of Islam as the obligation for the adherents to improve horizontal relations between fellow humans and strengthen vertical relations with Allah SWT. The implementation of Islamic Social Responsibility (ISR) of the Islamic Bank gives a positive assessment in sharia agreement, justice and equality, responsibility for work, welfare, guarantee of nature preservation and benevolent assistance that is not profit-oriented.Proper almsgiving management and ISR implementation make Islamic banks trusted by the public in terms of service quality, satisfaction and loyalty of Muzzaki. It reduces bad images, and provides relevant impacts on social welfare and the progress of the era. The data analysis used to test the hypotheses is Multiple Linear Regression analysis. The data is collected by distributing questionnaires to Commissioners and Directors at 14 (fourteen) Islamic Commercial Banks spread throughout Indonesia. The result of this study shows partially prove the role of Islamic bank commissioners in the amsgiving management only, while the importance of the role of directors in Islamic banks in almsgiving management and the implementation of ISR partially. Keywords: Islamic Bank, Commissioners, Directors, Almsgiving and ISR

The act of accuracy and prudence is very important in the company because is the factor that determines the sustainability of companies such as banking. This study aims to analyze the effect of Shariah Complaints towards the profitability of Islamic Banks in Indonesia. This type of research is quantitative. The data collection method used is the documentation method and library study method. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling with the criteria of Islamic commercial banks that publish annual-reports from 2013 to 2017 from 13 Islamic commercial banks (BUS) in Indonesia. The results of this study show that the Funding and Investment, Products and Services, Employees, Community or Social, Environmental, Corporate Governance simultaneously does not have influence significantly the ROE variable, but it does significantly influence to ROA. Means that the wider the Islamic social reporting of Islamic banking, the greater the profitability of Islamic banking. In addition, high profitability will encourage managers to provide more detailed information, because they want to convince investors of company profits and its compensation for management.

This study aims to determine the influence of the Sharia Supervisory Board and the Board of Commissioners on the Financial Performance of Islamic Banks in Indonesia. This study used secondary data from 12 banks.The sampling technique used is the purposive sampling technique. The method of data analysis used is multiple linear regression.The results partially show that the sharia supervisory board and board of commissioners positively and significantly influence the financial performance of Islamic banks in Indonesia. Simultaneously,the board of commissioners and the sharia supervisory board positively and significantly influence the financial performance of Islamic bank

The purposes of this research were to determine the effect of the financial performance of Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia on financing, both individually and simultaneously. The performance was measured through Third Party Funds (TPF), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non-Performing Financing (NPF), and Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR). These four independent variables to be tested influence on the dependent variable. This research used census method that includes all of the Islamic banks in Indonesia for observational data. Research data observation period from 2009 until 2013 a total of 11 banks. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the data.The results of this study found that the Third Party Funds (TPF), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non Performing Financing (NPF), and Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR) affect the financing, both individually and simultaneously. Fluctuations in either an increase or decrease of financing that occurred in Islamic banking in Indonesia is determined by the four independent variables. That is to say, the four independent variables that have an important role in the financing of Islamic banking in Indonesia. =========================================== Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh kinerja keuangan bank umum syariah di Indonesia terhadap pembiayaan, baik secara parsial maupun simultan. Kinerja keuangan diukur melalui Dana Pihak Ketiga (DPK), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non Performing Financing (NPF), dan Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR) Keempat variabel bebas tersebut akan diuji pengaruhnya terhadap satu variabel tidak bebas. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian sensus, yakni memasukan semua bank umum syariah yang ada di Indonesia ke dalam data pengamatan. Periode pengamatan data penelitian dari tahun 2009 s.d 2013 yang berjumlah 11 perbankan. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa Dana Pihak Ketiga (DPK), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non Performing Financing (NPF), dan Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR) berpengaruh terhadap pembiayaan pada perbankan syariah di Indonesia, baik secara parsial maupun simultan. Fluktuasi baik itu peningkatan atau penurunan pembiayaan yang terjadi pada perbankan syariah di Indonesia ditentukan oleh keempat variabel bebas tersebut. Sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa, keempat variabel bebas tersebut mempunyai peranan penting atas pembiayaan pada perbankan syariah di Indonesia.

Third-party funds at Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia fluctuated. The factors that determine the accumulation of third-party funds are essential for Islamic banks' financial stability and management. This study aims to show and describe the effect of gross domestic product and inflation on third-party funds partially and simultaneously. The research method used is descriptive-associative with a quantitative approach. The population used is Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia. Data analysis using multiple linear regression. The results show that gross domestic product and inflation partially affect third-party funds in Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia. Meanwhile, simultaneously gross domestic product and inflation have a significant effect with a contribution of 85.5% to third-party funds in Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia. The increase in third-party funds depends on Indonesia's macroeconomic conditions, the dominant macroeconomic influencing the collection of third-party funds in Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia.

This study examines the effect of sustainability reports on the performance of maqashid sharia in Islamic banks. The sample of this research is Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia for the period 2014-2018. The sustainability report is measured by the standard score of the GRI 4 sustainability report and the performance of Islamic banks is measured using maqashid sharia with 3 perspectives, namely education, justice and welfare. The method used is panel data regression with 3 research models. The results of the analysis of model 1 show that the sustainability report has a significant negative effect on the performance of maqashid sharia from an education perspective. In model 2, the results show that the sustainability report does not have a significant effect on the performance of maqashid syariah justice perspective. Model 3 shows the results that the sustainability report does not have a significant effect on the performance of maqashid syariah from the welfare perspective.

<p><b>Purpose</b></p> <p>It is difficult to predict when the next financial crisis will happen. Identifying financial strategies, which help a bank to survive a crisis, is the main purpose of the paper. This paper examines the financial strategies of those banks, which managed to retain good credit ratings both before and after the global financial crisis, so as to throw light on the characteristics of banks which managed to remain steady and stable. </p> Design <p>This paper analyses Fitch credit ratings of 51 banks Islamic and commercial banks operating in GCC, divided into pre global financial crisis (2002 to 2007) and post global financial crisis (2008 to 2013) periods. Trend and behavior of average ratios of top rated banks in both the periods is first attempted before moving to “Ordered Choice Logit” regression method to further analyze the data. </p> <p><b>Findings</b></p> <p>Size and cost management are very important factors in ratings, both before and after the financial crisis. As long as asset quality is under control, liquidity is the focal point in achieving good ratings. Top rated Islamic banks seem to be following a strategy of allowing capital ratios to trend down during a crisis as long as capital is well above the regulatory requirements. </p> <p><b>Originality and Value</b></p> <p>The paper is the first of its kind which examines credit rating strategies of Islamic banks as well as commercial banks. <a>The findings of the paper are extremely important for banks as they throw light on appropriate strategies to be adopted by banks during crises.</a></p>
