Laser biostimulation involves applying a laser beam to the tissue to facilitate healing and regenerative processes. Laser therapy is one of the most important physical methods used in human physiotherapy. In veterinary medicine, laser therapy is a new and so far poorly examined method. The results of studies conducted so far are very promising, yet the positive effect of laser light, especially that of class IV, has yet to be confirmed. This article presents an overview of the available literature on the effect of laser treatment on the human and animal organism.

In the literature we found reports on anti-inflammatory, analgesic, resolving effect of low-energy laser light in the red part of the spectrum, its irritating effect on receptors of the nervous apparatus, ability to induce ovulation. We have not found any works on laser beams application in treatment of tubal infertility, but taking into account the above mentioned we can assume the possibility of restoration of female reproductive function by laser treatment.

Abstract It is shown that for the solar cells containing chalcogenide nanocrystallites using external laser light, one can achieve some enhancement of the photovoltaic efficiency. Photoinduced treatment was carried out using two beams of splitted Er: glass laser operating at 1.54 μm. The light of the laser was incident at different angles and the angles between the beams also were varied. Also, the studies of nanocomposite effective structures have shown enhancement of effective nanocrystalline sizes during the laser treatment. Nanocrystallites of CuInS2 and CuZnSnS4 (CZTS) were used as chalcogenide materials. The optimization of the laser beam intensities and nanoparticle sizes were explored.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of laser therapy in post-operative sensitivity by Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) to the 57 patients after restoration with two different resins composite. In the first group (28 patients, 30 teeth) it was restored the cavity class I Black with micro-hybrid composite Filtek Z250 - Adper Single Bond (3M/ESPE). In the second group (29 patients, 30 teeth) it was restored the cavity class III Black with nano-hybrid composite Ceram X One Sphere Tec-Prime and Bond One (Etch&Rinse) (Dentsply). The restorative treatments were performed by the same practitioner on posterior and anterior teeth diagnosed with mid-sized chronic carious lesions. Total etch (etch and rinse) strategy of adhesion was used for both composite resins. The laser treatment was performed in 2 sessions at 48 hours and after 7 days, for both study groups using laser Whitening Lase II (DMC Dental). Mean scores for VAS indices decreased significantly at 48 hours and 7 days, following laser treatment for all the investigated parameters (materials, sex, age) (p [ 0.05).

Abstract Introduction Hypertrophic scarring after burn injury can be extremely painful, cause profound itching, and affect the way patients view themselves and how the outside world perceives them. We have utilized laser therapy as a modality for scar modulation for our patients since 2013. In 2014, we initiated and completed a prospective IRB approved study to evaluate the outcome of scars treated with fractional CO2 laser therapy (FLT) utilizing objective and subjective tools. Recently, we have completed a prospective study evaluating the use of pulse dye laser (PDL) therapy and the impact on post-burn pruritis. In reviewing the outcomes from these two studies, we have developed an evidence-based laser therapy algorithm for burn scar management. Methods The FLT study entailed a series of three CO2 laser treatments minimally 4–6 weeks apart with scar measurements and POSAS form completion performed prior to each laser treatment and four weeks after the last FLT. Scar measurements that included color, pliability, and scar thickness; and completion of the POSAS form were obtained prior to each laser therapy session and four weeks after the third laser treatment. The measurements of color, pliability, and scar thickness were measured with the Colorimeter, Cutometer, and ultrasound. The PDL study utilized the 5-D Itch scale to evaluate post-burn pruritis. A baseline measurement was obtained prior to any laser treatments. Each patient underwent two PDL sessions and a 5-D itch scale was completed four to six weeks after the second PDL session. The baseline measurement was then compared to the final 5-D itch scale measurement. Results Data from the FLT study is in Table 1 and shows that there were statistically significant improvements in the Patient and Observer POSAS scores, patient rated Itch score, scar thickness, and measured skin density. Changes to patient rated scar pain, scar color, and pliability were noted but were not of statistical significance. Data from the PDL study is in Table 2 and shows a statistically significant decrease in the treated patients’ post-burn pruritis. Conclusions In reviewing the outcomes of these two studies, we have developed an algorithm based on our studies. All of our patients undergoing laser therapy receive two PDL sessions that are four to six weeks apart followed by 3 FLT sessions. The use of both PDL and FLT decreases post-burn pruritis, decreases scar thickness, decreases pain, and increases patient satisfaction as shown in our research.

Abstract In the article the results of set of experiments concerning the changes in microstructure of plasma sprayed Al2O3, Cr2O3 and W2C coatings of tribological test pieces obtained with use of locally applied laser beam treatment are given and discussed. The improvement of sprayed on coating layer adhesion to the steel base was ascertained and evaluated. The possibilities of the application of the described technology for development and production of slide elements of tribological joints are noticed.

At our institute, laser therapy of wounds is usually performed in the regenerative stage, after clearing of pus-necrotic masses and granulation, since many years of experience have shown that laser therapy is ineffective in the exudative and destructive phases of the wound process. Before exposure to laser, the skin around the wound must be degreased. The defocused beam of laser light is directed directly to the wound or ulcerous surface and adjacent healthy skin areas. For extensive wounds and ulcers, the laser is irradiated in the margins.

The aim: The purpose of research is to improve the effectiveness of treatment by applying laser in complex treatment in patients with herpetic stomatitis. Materials and methods: Were examined 47 people (22 men and 25 women) with acute herpetic stomatitis. The patіents’ age was from 20 to 72 years. All patients underwent immunological tests such as (T-lymphocytes (CD3 +), T-helpers (CD4 +), cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CD8 +), the content of immunoglobulins IgM, IgG, IgA and slgA in saliva to assess the іmmunological reactivity of the organism. Results: Clinical observations have shown that when using laser therapy, the results of treatment were better than in the control group. Positive dynamics was observed as early as 1-2 days after the start of laser use and was more pronounced when used in the early stages of the disease. The use of the laser promoted a more rapid suspension of new lesions, a decrease in pain syndrome, and a more rapid regression of herpetic lesions. We have found significant improvements in the arameters of cellular and humoral іmmunity in patients of the main group. Conclusions: Treatment of herpetic stomatitis is relevant and requires further improvement and the search for new methods. The use of a laser in the complex treatment of herpetic stomatitis has a positive effect on the course and іmmunological status of patients with herpetic stomatіtis. The manifestations of the disease healed faster, and the pain syndrome was less severe. Duration between іllness and treatment decreased on 19.7% and 26%. It is advіsable to include the method of treatment using a laser in the complex therapy of herpetic stomatitis.

<b><i>Case Report:</i></b> A 12-year-old castrated male dog with nonambulatory tetraplegia was diagnosed with spinal stenosis at C3–C4 through X-ray examination and with ventral extradural spinal compression at C3–C4 through myelography and computed tomography. The diagnosis of traditional Chinese veterinary medicine was local <i>Qi</i> and blood stagnation, spleen <i>Qi</i>deficiency, blood deficiency, and kidney <i>Yang</i> deficiency. We initiated treatment using a combination of acupuncture and Chinese medicine iontophoresis with laser therapy. After 12 treatment days, there was a significant improvement in the dog’s ambulation function, which was indicated by proper walking and flexible head-turning. <b><i>Conclusion:</i></b> This indicates that combining acupuncture and Chinese medicine iontophoresis could be a potential treatment for chronic progressive cervical intervertebral disk disease in dogs.

Abstract In this paper, modification of nitrided layer by laser re-melting was presented. The nitriding process has many advantageous properties. Controlled gas nitriding was carried out on 42CrMo4 steel. As a consequence of this process, ε+γ’ compound zone and diffusion zone were produced at the surface. Next, the nitrided layer was laser remelted using TRUMPF TLF 2600 Turbo CO2 laser. Laser tracks were arranged as single tracks with the use of various laser beam powers (P), ranging from 0.39 to 1.04 kW. The effects of laser beam power on the microstructure, dimensions of laser tracks and hardness profiles were analyzed. Laser treatment caused the decomposition of continuous compound zone at the surface and an increase in hardness of previously nitrided layer because of the appearance of martensite in re-melted and heat-affected zones
