It was late on a Friday evening and the “big” question had raised its ugly head again. Husband and wife, Eli Cohen and Betty Boyd, were slowly sipping their second glass of their favorite merlot and debating how to make Informing Science Institute (ISI) into a sustainable organization. They had founded ISI, an academic association, in 1998 to foster the development of a scientific discipline called Informing Science.

Volcanology is an extremely important scientific discipline. Shedding light on how and why volcanoes erupt, how eruptions can be predicted and their impact on humans and the environment is crucial to public safety, economies and businesses. Understanding volcanoes means eruptions can be anticipated and at-risk communities can be forewarned, enabling them to implement mitigation measures. Professor Tsukasa Ohba is a scientist based at the Graduate School of International Resource Studies, Akita University, Japan, and specialises in volcanology and petrology. Ohba and his team are focusing on volcanic phenomena including: phreatic eruptions (a steam-driven eruption driven by the heat from magma interacting with water); lahar (volcanic mudflow); and monogenetic basalt eruptions (which consist of a group of small monogenetic volcanoes, each of which erupts only once). The researchers are working to understand the mechanisms of these phenomena using Petrology. Petrology is one of the traditional methods in volcanology but has not been applied to disastrous eruptions before. The teams research will contribute to volcanic hazard mitigation.

This paper aims to explain the dilemma that occurs in marital relationships. The issue of performing the external or internal maintenance obligation on the husband who has HIV / AIDS causes the wife to suffer. Thus, a qualitative study has been done to identify the dilemma that occurs in the relationship between husband and wife. Archival research methods such as the provisions of Islamic Family Law (UUKI), fiqh munakahat and case studies have been used. Interview methods were also performed to answer the objectives of the study. A total of 8 respondents, namely the wives of AIDS sufferers, were interviewed to obtain study data and the data was finally analyzed manually (QDA). The results show that there is discrimination against people living with HIV / AIDS (OHDHA) (wife) in the form of external and internal maintenance (husband and wife relationship). Even sadder, all respondents have been infected with HIV / AIDS as a result of intimate relationships with their husbands. The study finally concludes that OHDHA (wife) needs guidance and understanding of how to deal with the dilemma of performing duties as a wife and avoiding darar treatment from her partner (husband). Keywords: UUKI, Obligation, Wife, nafkah, HIV/AIDS.

The UN’s 2030 Agenda brings new governance challenges to municipal environmental planning, both in large urban centres and in metropolitan peripheries. The opportunities of the new framework of action proposed by the United Nations (UN) and its integrative, global and transversal nature constitute advances from the previous models of municipal management based on the Local Agenda 21. This text provides evidence to apply quality criteria and validated instruments of participatory evaluation. These instruments have been built on the foundation of Evaluative Research, a scientific discipline that provides rigour and validity to those decisions adopted at a municipal level. A case study focused on a metropolitan area serves as a field of experimentation for this model of the modernization of environmental management structures at a local level. Details of the instruments, agents, priority decision areas, methodologies, participation processes and quality criteria are provided, as well as an empirically validated model for participatory municipal management based on action research processes and strategic planning that favours a shared responsibility across all social groups in the decision-making process and in the development of continuous improvement activities that are committed to sustainability. Finally, a critical comparison of weaknesses and strengths is included in light of the evidence collected.

This paper describes the creation of “Scholar Mirrors”, a prototype web application that aims to provide a quick but accurate representation of the situation of a scientific discipline by integrating data from multiple online platforms. We chose the discipline of Bibliometrics / Scientometrics as a case study. After carrying out a series of keywords searches in Google Scholar Citations (GSC) and Google Scholar (GS), 813 relevant researchers were identified. Researchers were further classified as core (those who work mainly on Scientometrics) or related (those who work in other disciplines, with occasional incursions into Scientometrics). Additional information about these researchers was collected from other platforms (ResearcherID, ResearchGate, Mendeley, and Twitter). Up to 28 author-level indicators were collected about each researcher, as well as data about up to 100 of the most cited documents displayed in their GSC profile. The document-level data from all GSC profiles, as well as the data extracted from the keyword searchers in GS, was aggregated to create a list of the top 1000 most cited documents in the discipline. This document collection was further processed to generate a list of the most influential journals and publishers in the discipline. The results are accessible from the “Scholar Mirrors” website, which presents the results in four sections: authors, documents, journals, and book publishers. Lastly, the paper presents the main features of the web application, and the main limitations and future challenges of the product.

Cost overrun in the field of project construction is still a global issue, and it is a challenge to seek for solution from various scientific discipline including information technology. This thesis aims to design a business intelligence application model for analyzing the cost of construction project to provide follow-up information as quickly and as early as possible to assist the executives to make valuable business decisions. This case study was prepared through literature reviews, interviews, and direct observation to obtain overview of the business processes in the construction company. The modeling of BI application which can be successfully developed using agile methods is very effective in addressing the change. This case study found that the application of business intelligence which provides information on key performance indicator (KPI) can assist the executives of the company to make decisions quickly and precisely, thus improving the performance of the project, especially in the cost control.

The authors in the text affirm the feminist methodology as a way of specific research conceiving and as a newer special scientific discipline. Feminist approaches use various methods in their empiric researches, but, at this point, only the methods which the feminist approaches developed more intensively and which were used more often, have been discussed. It means that those were the methods which were more universally improved. Amongst methodological approaches and methods often used by feminists, feminist interviews are mentioned, feminist etnography, feminist poll, feminist experiment, feminist content analysis and feminist case study. Consequently, the authors tried to elaborate the possibilities of specification not only of feminist methods, but of feminist research either. In the end, they conclude that being released from the limits of traditional science, feminist approaches, in fact, identify and conceive their methodological approaches in researches. That way new feminist methodologies will prevent androcentric scientific manipulation. They will develop those methodological approaches and strategies within which maximal flexibility will be allowed. It is precisely this feminist approach which provides for multimethodological approach. After all, methodological heterogeneousness will provide for researching into the greater content scale, and achievement of wider research aims. Also, feminist research is transdisciplinary, therefore, besides sociological and cultural many other fields can be included, such as history, literary critique, philosophy, legal sciences etc. The authors conclude that there is no doubt that feminist methodology will broaden its limits of the former traditional (social and humanistic) researches, precisely by the diversity of methods and methodological approaches, and by persistence in their usage, development and methodological improvement.

Sandeep Sharma waited eagerly for his friend to drop in to the restaurant. It was 6:30 pm in a Friday evening and he had taken a short break from his busy schedule. He had some urgent work to be completed, before he left for the day. The day after, a meeting for parents was scheduled at his kids school. He wanted to take one day leave for the same, since it was the first meeting of the year. His son started going to school just a month back. He had discussed the same with his Regional Sales Manager Varun, but it was not clear whether he really understood the matter or not. Sandeep was a bit worried. Was Varun upset with the way I asked for a leave? Why didnt he give a proper reply to me? Why did he hang up the phone so fast? There were no critical functions for the next day, but then this new task given by Varun kept him occupied. He wanted to finish the task as early as possible and get his leave approved.

AbstractIslam has arranged marital affairs as well as possible, including the prohibition of marrying two female siblings at the same time or what is called jam'u bainal ukhtain. Although the ban was clear, the phenomenon of the marriage of jam'u bainal ukhtain still occurred between a man who married two female siblings at once, namely between A (L) and N (P) his brother, then I (P) his sister in the village Sukasenang Banyuresmi District, Garut Regency. This study aims to determine the background of the marriage of jam'u bainal ukhtain, the process of conducting the marriage jam’u bainal ukhtain, and the legal consequences of the marriage of jam’u bainal ukhtain which occurred in Sukasenang Village, Banyuresmi District, Garut Regency. The research method used in this study is a case study by collecting data through interview techniques and literature studies. Based on the data obtained, it was found that the cause of the marriage of Jam'u bainal ukhtain was the mistaken belief regarding adat ngarunghal (overtaking), along with the lack of religious knowledge and lack of education. In addition, identity concealment was also found. The process of the first marriage between A and N is carried out openly and has fulfilled the pillars and terms of marriage, then the second marriage between A and I is carried out in a closed manner because it is clearly prohibited and unlawful. This form of marriage results in illegitimate marriages between A and I, so that the relationship between husband and wife is done with zina. The ARanak born from the marriage only has civil relations with the mother and family of the mother only, and there is no nasab rights and inherits each other between A and AR.Keywords : jam’u bainal ukhtain, marriage is not legal, civil relationsAbstrakIslam telah mengatur urusan perkawinan dengan sebaik-baiknya, termasuk adanya larangan menikahi dua saudara kandung perempuan sekaligus atau yang disebut dengan jam’u bainal ukhtain.
