This essay offers a close analytical reading of Debussy’s 1904 song “Colloque sentimental.” Drawing on research in performance/analysis and performance studies that engages with performers’ discourse, I analyze not only Debussy’s score, but also commentaries on the song by Jane Bathori and Pierre Bernac, as well as Bathori’s and Bernac’s recordings. For an analyst, the cross-comparison of their respective commentaries and performances allows for rich interpretations of music and text that are unavailable from an exclusive focus on the score.

Is there a way for the anthropocentric and anthropomorphic art form par excellence, the theatre, or performance art for that matter, to expand beyond their human and humanist bias? Is the term Anthropocene in any way useful for theatre and performance studies or performance-as-research? In the anthology Anthropocene Feminism (Grusin 2017) Rosi Braidotti proposes four theses for a posthumanist feminism: 1) feminism is not a humanism, 2) anthropos is off-center, 3) zoe is the ruling principle, 4) sexuality is a force beyond gender. These assertions can undoubtedly be put on stage, but do they have relevance for developing or understanding performance practices off-stage and off-center, such as those trying to explore alternative ways and sites of performing, like performing with plants? In this text, I examine Braidotti’s affirmative theses and explore their usefulness with regard to performance analysis, use some of my experiments in the artistic research project “Performing with plants” as examples, and consider what the implications and possible uses of these theses are for our understanding of performances with other-than-human entities, which we share our planet with.

This chapter argues that references to the theater are never merely innocent metaphors but instead are historically and culturally determined modes of perception that allow us to see certain problems in the political realm such as authenticity, representation, and spectatorship as essentially theatrical problems. This is particularly the case in nineteenth century colonial discourse with its technique of theatricalizing the colonized people and places. As a “travelling concept,” theatricality is not bound exclusively to the realm of the theater nor to the discourses of theater and performance studies; it holds meaning and potential as an instrument for analysis in the field of political science as well. The cross-disciplinary possibilities of the term theatricality lie in the term’s applicability for a better understanding of both the theater-like character of the political and social domain as well as of the grammar of performance as an aesthetic medium.

Objectives of this study were analyze fish auction participant satisfaction to auction services in TPI Morodemak, analyze attributes effect, services that fit to service quality measurement, and analyzed fish auction participants perception to performance and importance for fish auction house Morodemak services. Used descriptive method and purposive sampling with 49 respondents consists of commercial fishmongers, traditional fishmongers, purse seine owners, and boat lift net owners as fish auction participant. Satisfication measurement used Customer Satisfication Index (CSI), Importance and Performance Analysis (IPA) and gap analysis. Results from this study were value CSI 20% (0.2) indicate the auction participants dissatisfied with the services provided, IPA show there are four attributes should be develop, two elements have not been completed based on measurement requirements of service satisfaction, gap value average -0.05 means the auction participants were not satisfied with the performance of TPI services because the performance value was lower than the importance value.

The Tax Payer obidience in fulfiling their taxation obligation will be influenced a lot by the satisfaction level toward the service fiscus. The aim of this observation is to know the response of Tax Payer toward service quality through importance and performance. The population which become the object of this observation is the personal Tax Payer registered in Bogor Tax Service Office and the number of respondents taken as the sample are 100 respondents with Slovin formula. The analysis method used is descriptive analysis and importance-performance analysis.   The result of this observation will be able to be used as one of the input to Bogor Tax Service Office in improving the quality service and for the following observation, especially those who take the same object as the observation in order to improve the quality service to the Tax Payer based on the service of its working way which is felt less. Otherwise it is important for The Tax Payer, maintaining the good work or balancing the service quality based on the working way which is evaluated less important by The Taxe Payer, but has been done reasonably well or very well by The Service Office

In recent years there has been a strong “public turn” within universities that is renewing interest in collaborative approaches to knowledge creation. This article draws on performance studies literature to explore the cross-disciplinary collaborations made possible when the academy broadens our scope of inquiry to include knowledge produced through performance. It takes as a case study the “Peabody Ballroom Experience,” an ongoing collaboration between the Johns Hopkins University Sheridan Libraries, the Peabody Institute BFA Dance program, and Baltimore’s ballroom community—a performance-based arts culture comprising gay, lesbian, queer, transgender, and gender-nonconforming people of color.
