Herbal medicine prepare various part of plant are used like flower, leaves, seeds, root etc. Instead off an herbal drug is design as the alternative formulation for the external use in the form of ointment. For the medicinal use the herbal ointment apply externally on human body. The main aims of this research are preparation of herbal ointment from the Emblica officinalis plants the antibacterial activity. Under this research work, it is design as herbal ointment with the help of methanolic extract of Emblica officinalis and determines the anti-bacterial capacity on it. In vitro study the antibacterial activity of the methanolic extracts of dried leaves of Emblica officinalis are determine by using the Agar cup plate method versus different bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa etc. By blending the methanolic extract of Emblica officinalis (10 % w/w) into aqueous cream we formulated herbal ointment. The emulsifying agent and simple ointment bases are added in above herbal ointment for increase the antibacterial effectiveness during in vitro evaluation. The herbal ointment is also better in comparison to a commercial brand of Gentamicin ointment. Emblica officinalis (Family Euphorbiaceae) are broadly used in traditional system of medicine throughout different part of India. It is used in the treatment of cold, anemia, dysentery, fever, gravel, sores. It is very important to standardize the plant part pharmacognostically for its utilization in different formulation. The current study deals with the determination of formulation and evaluation of herbal ointment using Emblica officinalis extract.

The study of diseases and their treatment are important part of our ancient time worldwide. The knowledge of medicinal plants must have been accumulated in the course of many centuries. Herbal plants are huge sources of neutraceuticals, prevent the different disease or maintain healthy life. The current study deals with the determination of formulation and evaluation of herbal ointment using Thuja orientalis leave extract.

Background: The use of medicinal plants for maintaining good health is getting attention worldwide. Antioxidants play an important role to protect damage caused by oxidative stress. In the present study methanolic extracts of Cassia fistula  was determined using DPPH for its antioxidant activity. Phytochemical investigation confirmed the presence of bioactive ingredients in the extract.Methods: The antioxidant activity of methanolic extract of Cassia fistula was evaluated using DPPH free radical assay. DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyine) free radical analysis is one of the accurate and frequently employed method for evaluating antioxidant activity.Results: The methanolic extracts showed increase in radical scavenging activity as concentration increases. The IC50 values were calculated for the methanolic extract. Ascorbic acid was used as control. Cassia fistula exhibited IC 50 of 79.42µg/ml.Conclusions: Scientific evidence suggests that antioxidants reduce the risk for chronic diseases including cancer and heart disease and infectious diseases. Further evaluation of pharmacological activities of Cassia fistula may prove useful in treatment of cancer and heart diseases.

Objective: Dandruff is the unusually high shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp. It is a common scalp disorder affecting almost half of the post pubertal population. In the market many treatment options are available but herbal preparation is the best option to treat dandruff. Thus, in the present research work Ayurvedic conditioner prepared with plant extract (decoction) was studied to evaluate antidandruff activity against Staphyllococus aureus & Candida albicans. Method In vitro study was conducted to evaluate the antidandruff effect of Ayurvedic conditioner against S. aureus & C. albicans. The evaluation done by adopting Kirby-Bauer Agar Well diffusion method. Antibacterial activity was compared with the standard references. Result Study revealed that Ayurvedic conditioner was susceptible for the same microbes in less concentration. Conclusion Ayurvedic conditioner was found to be the most effective formulation against dandruff causing factors; s.aureus and c.albicans.

Objective: The objective of the present research work had been made to evaluate the antioxidant potential along with anti-cancer activity of methanolic extracts from the leaf of A. marmelos. Methods: Standard methods for antioxidant potential in terms of DPPH and nitric oxide scavenging assay, and anticancer activity in vitro method (Cytotoxicity/MTT assay and % of cell viability) by using MCF7 cell line. Results: Results of antioxidant efficacy revealed that the IC50 value for DPPH and nitric oxide scavenging assay was considered to be 62.032%, and 20.69% respectively. The methanolic extract of A. marmelos was found to possess enhanced anticancer potential against MCF7 cells. Cytotoxicity activity of MCF7 cells, when treated with methanolic extract of A. marmelos, was found to be 43.42% at 25µg, 52.31% at 50µg, 56.31% at 75µg, 58.38% at 100µg, 62.25% at 125µg. The IC50 value was found as 49.36µg. Toxicity was significantly increased with increased concentration and viability significantly decreased with the increased concentration of methanolic extract of leaf from A. marmelos for MCF7 cell when compared to cyclophosphamide. Conclusion: From the studies, it was postulated that methanolic extract of leaf from A. marmeloshas significant chemopreventive activity. These specific identities will be useful for the identification and authentication of raw drug.

Background and Objectives. It has been shown that Myrtus communis and Marrubium vulgare have antibacterial activity against bacterial and fungal strains of different diseases. This study aimed to evaluate in vitro the antibacterial activity of aqueous and methanolic extracts of Myrtus communis and Marrubium vulgare leaves against selected periodontal pathogens. Materials and Methods. Clinical strains of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans and Eikenella corrodens and two reference strains of A. actinomycetemcomitans were tested. The antibacterial activity of each studied plant extract was evaluated using agar diffusion and broth microdilution assays. Results. Both aqueous and methanolic extracts of M. communis exhibited high antibacterial activity against periodontal pathogens as compared to M. vulgare extracts. At concentrations of 2.5-0.32 mg/disc, inhibition zones of the methanolic extract of M. communis ranged from 19.66 ± 0.57 to 12.33 ± 0.57 mm. The methanolic extract of M. vulgare showed at concentrations of 5-0.63 mg/disc inhibition zones ranging from 15.66 ± 0.57 to 12 ± 0.00 mm. Its aqueous extract at concentration of 0.63 mg/disc showed no antimicrobial activity against the clinical and reference strain of A. actinomycetemcomitans. Conclusion. This study showed that methanolic and aqueous extracts of M. communis and M. vulgare have in vitro an antibacterial activity against periodontal pathogens. They could be use as ingredients of an oral antimicrobial agent for prevention or treatment of periodontal diseases. Further research on isolating the compounds from these plant extracts and their toxicity effect could be conducted.

Thermal and self-curing acrylic resins are frequently and versatilely used in dental medicine since they are biocompatible, have no flavor or odor, have satisfactory thermal qualities and polishing capacity, and are easy and fast. Thus, given their widespread use, their fracture resistance behavior is especially important. In this research work, we comparatively analyzed the fracture resistance capacity of thermo and self-curing acrylic resins in vitro. Materials and Methods: Five prosthesis bases were created for each of the following acrylic resins: Lucitone®, ProBase®, and Megacryl®, which were submitted to different forces through the use of the CS® Dental Testing Machine, usually mobilized in the context of fatigue tests. To this end, a point was defined in the center of the anterior edge of the aforementioned acrylic resin bases, for which the peak tended until a fracture occurred. Thermosetting resins were, on average, more resistant to fracture than self-curable resins, although the difference was not statistically significant. The thermosetting resins of the Lucitone® and Probase® brands demonstrated behavior that was more resistant to fracture than the self-curing homologues, although the difference was not statistically significant. Thermosetting resins tended to be, on average, more resistant to fracture and exhibited the maximum values for impact strength, compressive strength, tensile strength, hardness, and dimensional accuracy than self-curing resins, regardless of brand.

AbstractObjectivesRauvolfia vomitoria is a medicinal plant used traditionally in Africa in the management of several human diseases including psychosis. However, there is inadequate scientific information on the potency of the phenolic constituents of R. vomitoria leaf in the management of neurodegeneration. Therefore, this study characterized the phenolic constituents and investigated the effects of aqueous and methanolic extracts of R. vomitoria leaf on free radicals, Fe2+-induced lipid peroxidation, and critical enzymes linked to neurodegeneration in rat’s brain in vitro.MethodsThe polyphenols were evaluated by characterizing phenolic constituents using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with diode array detector (HPLC-DAD). The antioxidant properties were assessed through the extracts ability to reduce Fe3+ to Fe2+; inhibit ABTS, DPPH, and OH radicals and Fe2+-induced lipid peroxidation. The effects of the extracts on AChE and MAO were also evaluated.ResultsThe phenolic characterization of R. vomitoria leaf revealed that there were more flavonoids present. Both aqueous and methanolic extracts of R. vomitoria leaf had inhibitory effects with the methanolic extract having higher significant (p≤0.05) free radicals scavenging ability coupled with inhibition of monoamine oxidases. However, there was no significant (p≤0.05) difference obtained in the inhibition of lipid peroxidation and cholinesterases.ConclusionThis study suggests that the rich phenolic constituents of R. vomitoria leaf might contribute to the observed antioxidative and neuroprotective effects. The methanolic extract was more potent than the aqueous extract; therefore, extraction of R. vomitoria leaf with methanol could offer better health-promoting effects in neurodegenerative condition.
