Jurisdiction specialization is a topic of interest in the administration the justice system. Pros and cons have been vastly discussed, but few papers discuss the pratical details connected to the application of this policy. In this study, we discuss the creation of business courts in the County of São Paulo Brazil, and introduce innovating data analysis methodologies for solving pratical problems. In São Paulo, new courts, specialized or not, must follow two main criteria. New courts must have a minimum number of lawsuits per year and must have some estimate of the future worka load. In the performed analyses, we found evidence that a business lawsuit requires almost twice the amount of effort of a common lawsuit. By correcting the volume of lawsuits, based on a matter-treatment model, we arrived at the conclusion that two business courts can handle the existing demand adequately. Also, we were able to develop a robust methodology to verify if and how business courts should be created.

This article investigates the trajectory of the Grêmio Dramático, Recreativo e Literário Elite da Liberdade (the Liberdade Elite Guild of Drama, Recreation, and Literature), a black club active in São Paulo, Brazil, from 1919 to 1927. The aim is to reconstruct aspects of the club’s history in light of its educational discourse on civility, which was used as a strategy to promote modern virtues in the black milieu. By appropriating the precepts of civility, Elite da Liberdade helped construct a positive black identity, enabled the creation of bonds of solidarity among its members, and made itself a place of resistance and struggle for social inclusion, recognition, and citizens’ rights.

The article describes how the Brazilian media shows the Internet of Things. The corpus is composed of 165 texts of Folha de São Paulo published online between 2011 and 2016. A data scraping tool was developed to extract the texts, which were analyzed using Atlas.ti. As criterion of analysis, we sought to identify the most cited objects, the qualities attributed to them, as well as the most recurrent IoT definitions. We also observed the main themes found in the texts and the judgment implied by the articles. We conclude that IoT is defined by the connectivity between intelligent objects, linked to technical and economic issues and to the imaginary of the future. These objects work mostly in the residential, health and transportation areas. Privacy issues still do not dominate the discussions.

In 2019, I was with the design team of the exhibition Paul Klee - Equilíbrio Instável, held in the various spaces of the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center, in the cities of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte. It was an exclusive exhibition for Brazil that brought together 120 works by the artist, from the collection of Zentrum Paul Klee from Bern, Switzerland. At that time, I made an audiovisual display on five screens, which presented to the visitors aspects of the artistic techniques developed and used by the artist in his vast work. This research is part of a broader one, on the use of audiovisual in expographic projects that is the subject of my doctoral thesis, in progress. At this moment, however, a reflection will be presented on this specific audiovisual display, held for the exhibition cited. Our goal was to look at the various tensions that apply to the process of construction of a piece of this type, from the point of view of the design project. As well as the search for the function performed by it within the exhibition project. To do this reflection we started with a contextualization of this modality of exhibition using as object of study its edition held at the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center of São Paulo (CCBB-SP), looking at the spaces and their exhibition issues and its influence on the development of the project. We present, in the sequence, a description of the exhibition as a whole from the visitor point of view and from its catalog. Production files from this audiovisual display were researched, such as first drawings, scripts, concept development archives, photographic material and versions developed until its final. This material was observed from the concept of the creation networks, by Cecília Almeida Salles. We also held a dialogue with other members of the creative team, from different levels of the production process, in order to know the tensions that are applied in the production of this limited element of an expographic project like this. We saw, in this specific case of producing an audiovisual display, how each constituent element of an exhibition like this is traversed by tensions of various types, which are common within an exhibition design project, with many professionals from different areas involved. In addition to the identification of external factors that directly influence its production. We conclude then that the development of an exhibition is now inserted within what we know as a culture of design, which allows us to look at thistype of cultural manifestation as something that can no longer be limited to previous models of idealization of the exhibition space or abstain from the use of technologies and possibilities of connection with the public.

The purpose of this research study was to identify how mega-events that had been established in the official calendar of SPTuris (São Paulo Tourism Company) in 2020, of the Municipality of São Paulo, Brazil, have adapted to the coronavirus pandemic. The study verified the impacts and obstacles caused in the event industry as well as the mitigation of such difficulties. A presentation was made on concepts, classifications of events, their history, and position in the market, including a description of actions by organizers not to stop all activities; the authors also included an interview with a representative of two companies in the event industry. The study conclusion was that most events opted for the internet and social media, in addition to drive-thru and delivery activities in the case of gastronomy; and that there have been gains in health safety and in the role of hybrid events in the future.

The pleasure/suffering relation of nursing technician and auxiliary work: study of a home commitment situationAbstractThis study aims to identify the pleasure/suffering relation of nursing technicians and auxiliaries who work in home commitment. Data collection was made by semi-structured interviews. The subjects were constituted of nursing technicians and auxiliaries who work for facilities structured in home care. During bovine follicular development, there is a phase known as follicular deviation in which the future dominant follicle grows faster than the other follicles and acquires LH receptors (LHR). In Nellore breed, deviation occurs 2.5 days after ovulation, and at this time, the dominant follicle has in average a diameter of 6.0 mm. Some authors believe that LHRs are present in the future dominant follicle before deviation and are essential for this process. However, others are convinced that LHRs are present only during or after follicular deviation. The aim of the present experiment was to evaluate the expression of 4 LHR isoforms (M1 to M4) in granulosa cells of follicles from Nellore heifers before, during, and after follicular deviation. At a random stage of the estrous cycle (D0), Nellore heifers (n = 21) received a progesterone intravaginal device (1.0 g, Primer®, Tecnopec, Sao Paulo, Brazil) and 2.5 mg of estradiol benzoate (EB, i.m., Estrogin®, Farmavet, Sao Paulo, Brazil). Eight days later (D8) PGF2α was administered (150 μg d-cloprostenol, i.m., Prolise®, ARSA S.R.L., Buenos Aires, Argentina), and the device was removed. Twenty-four hours after device removal, cows were treated with EB (1.0 mg, i.m.), and from this point in time, the growth of the dominant follicle growth was observed by ultrasonography (US, Aloka 900, Tokyo, Japan) every 12 h. The animals were allocated in 3 groups: Group 2 (G2, 2 days after ovulation, n = 7), Group 2.5 (G2.5, 2.5 days after ovulation, n = 7), and Group 3 (G3, 3 days after ovulation, n = 7), and were slaughtered 2, 2.5, and 3 days after ovulation, respectively, in order to remove the ovaries. The granulosa cells, obtained from ovarian follicles, were separated for total RNA extraction, and the gene expression of LHR isoforms was measured by semiquantitative RT-PCR. Since LHR expression was not detected in Group 2 (follicles with 4.5 to 6.7 mm), comparisons were performed between groups G2.5 and G3 by ANOVA. The LHR expression was detected only in 2 samples of Group G2 (7.0-mm follicles) and was significantly higher in Group G3 (63.6%; follicles from 8 to 14 mm, P < 0.05). In all samples that expressed LHR, the 4 isoforms were present. It is concluded that LHR expression is present in granulosa cells of follicles from Nellore heifers after follicular deviation. Support and fellowship from FAPESP (Sao Paulo, Brazil). We are grateful to Tecnopec (Sao Paulo, Brazil) for providing intravaginal devices used in the experiment.

Nau dos Insensatos is an electroacoustic composition by Conrado Silva commissioned for the XXth São Paulo Art Biennial of 1989. The analysis of the piece reveals that an intrinsic narrative content can be deduced from the sequence of materials, topics, and formal organization used in the composition. The theoretical framework used to reach these conclusions considered the music narrative theory of Byron Almén, besides the classical semiotic interpretation of C. S. Peirce. Brief accounts of the principles of these theories were provided to subsidy the interpretation. As the creation of the piece had a direct relation with the space where it should be performed, the paper also reports the problems generated by the building’s acoustics, besides some contextual information about the exhibition. Theoretical information about the relation between acoustic space and music, applied to music of three other Brazilian composers enhances the approach to Conrado Silva’s music.
