The existence of new students at a tertiary institution is a routine activity every year in a tertiary institution and can also see the sustainability of the tertiary institution. The variety of regional origin of new students makes the party from the university want to see the distribution of new students based on the origin of the school and its place of residence. STIKOM Tunas Bangsa is one of the tertiary institutions in Pematangsiantar. It aims to promote the university. K-Medoids is able to group data on the distribution of new students in STIKOM Tunas Bangsa Pematangsiantar. The clusters produced in this study are of three clusters. The validity used in this study is the validity of Silhoutte Coefficient. The validity value generated in the K-Medoids algorithm produces a validity value of -116.47 by assuming that if the non-medoids value produced S

Educational managers in tertiary institutions operate basically in four areas: to maximise results, by harmonising immediate and longrange goals; to establish precise goals and measurable objectives; and to evaluate progress toward pre-determined goals and objectives, to organise, motivate, communicate and sh-engthen superordinates, peers and subordinates. In employing MBO the registrar and others in his department would define the major areas of their responsibilities and establish measures for operation. For instance, in the major areas. Thus the three satellite campuses of the University College of Education, Winneba, operating under a common mission may visibly embrace the principle of MBO, for after all, the large number 163 of disciplines and the interrelationship through the division system put the university in a better position to assemble the necessary skills and expertise to attain the mission and visions of a young multi-campus university.

The paper investigates whether or not parents influence their children’s choice for tertiary institution to attend. Education has increasingly become more important in this present age to the extent that, without higher qualifications, employment and success become very difficult to achieve. Parents are trying to send their children to tertiary institutions so that these children will be employable. But the question is: Do parents choose the tertiary institutions for their children? The paper wants to find out whether or not parents have a say in their children’s choice for tertiary institution; and if so, look at factors that could play in the choice. A survey was conducted at the University of Venda from February 2015 to June 2015 and 500 students were conveniently sampled and interviewed. Using some statistical analyses, including Generalized Linear Modelling (GLM), the study concludes that age and the campus environment are the only factors that determine parents’ influence on their children’s choice for higher education. The study further shows that female students are more influenced by their parents than males in the choice of higher institution.

This research is based on learning in tertiary institutions which requires more active, independent and creative learners. of the importance of using appropriate learning methods in mathematics learning at the university level. SCAMPER is a technique that can be used to spark creativity and help overcome challenges that might be encountered in the form of a list of general goals with ideas spurring questions. This research aims to develop students' problem solving skills using the SCAMPER method in terms of student motivation. The population in this study were all semester V students of mathematics education study programs, which were also the research samples. From the analysis of the data it was found that the SCAMPER method was better in developing students' problem solving abilities with an average increase of 0.52 compared to conventional methods with an average increase of 0.45. In addition there is a difference between improving students' problem solving abilities when viewed from their motivation. But there is no interaction between motivational factors and learning methods.

Finding a Place for Environmental Studies: Tertiary Institutions as a Locus of Practice for Education for Sustainability Education for sustainability (EfS) involves not only curriculum, but also demands responses in terms of management of resources and of grounds. It is asserted here that inclusion of education for sustainability in the curriculum, whether in a school or university context, is hollow and insincere in the absence of practical and social action on site and perhaps beyond. The present study focuses on students' views of opportunities and barriers with regard to issues, such as maintenance of grounds and management of resources in a tertiary institution context. A cohort of approximately 140 third year primary teacher education students were surveyed to ascertain their views on the value of, barriers to and opportunities for practical sustainability projects conducted by students in their tertiary context. Such projects are a precursor to similar endeavours that could be undertaken in the students' school contexts.

In 2017, the Faculty of Theology celebrates its centenary at the University of Pretoria. Celebrating a centennial is as much as looking back as looking forward. In a changing world with changing paradigms how does one remain relevant? Different challenges and expectations presented to tertiary institutions of education in a new dispensation puts all concerned with higher education in South Africa under pressure. The question addressed in this article is how will a Faculty of Theology (in this case at the University of Pretoria) remain relevant to such an extent that it is continued to be viewed as desirable to have such a faculty present at a university, participating in the academic process and simultaneously continues to contribute to the well-being of the South African society. The author suggests the following guidelines for consideration. In order to remain relevant for the next couple of hundred years the Faculty of Theology should engage contextually with society, practise interdisciplinary Theology, engage in interreligious dialogue while still remaining connected to faith communities. A paradigm of post-foundationalism enables Theology to exercise Theology in a relevant and meaningful manner.

As HIV/AIDS continues to spread and affect the lives of millions of people, a sense of urgency has developed about the imperative need to stop the epidemic. Education is the key to change knowledge, attitudes and behaviour. There is currently a gap in educationprogrammes targeting youths of ages 18-24 years, for example, those enrolled in tertiary institutions. The aim of the study was therefore to establish the level of HIV/AIDS awareness among undergraduate pharmacy students at the University of Limpopo (Medunsa Campus)/ Tshwane University of Technology Schools of Pharmacy. A structured questionnaire was administered to pharmacy students on entry to the programme. Although the students of 2003, 2004 and 2005 obtained mean percentage HIV/AIDS awareness scores in the range of 70%-80%, they had inadequate knowledge of some transmission routes, events that occur when HIV invades the body, the “window period” and some symptoms. These knowledge gaps should be addressed by universities by integrating HIV/AIDS policies and education fully into all aspects of their planning, operations andteaching.

Management of academic activities at Mahendradata University is still using manually ways, which means that it has not used an integrated information system yet, for the example the process of registering new students, arranging lecture schedules, filling in student KRS, managing lecture attendance, and managing student grades. Nowadays cultural changes have been marked by the increasingly rapid use of the internet. The internet as an information resources for its existence has now become a necessity. The benefits of the internet are quite large, especially in the world of business, entertainment and education. This system is designed to assist academic processes at the University of Mahendradata. The academic processes that have been analyzed and applied in this developed system are the process of preparing schedules, plotting teaching lecturers, printing KRS, printing lecture attendance, presenting inputs, filling in grades, and printing KHS. And the University can immediately develop a new system in order to work optimally. System design that has been used in developing this system uses the SDLC method, the waterfall method. The implementation of the system uses the PHP programming language Codegniter and MySQL database. The results of this study are in the form of an academic system design at the University of Mahendradata. This developed system is aim to assist the academic processes at the University of Mahendradata

Good governance of private tertiary institutions is a series of mechanisms to direct and control a tertiary institution so that it runs in accordance with the expectations of all interested parties, by applying the principles of transparency, accountability, responsibility, fairness, independence, equality and fairness. This study aims to determine and analyze the financial performance of STIE Mujahidin Tolitoli in terms of liquidity ratios, solvency ratios, activity ratios and profitability ratios. The study uses a quantitative research approach design by analyzing primary data. Based on the results of research and discussion it can be concluded that the financial performance condition of STIE Mujahidin Tolitoli in terms of Liquidity, Solvency, Activity and Profitability aspects after streamlining the manager structure has increased in value which can be interpreted that the financial performance after streamlining the manager structure is better than before because the value continues to increase and is above the industry average standard.
