The study aims to describe the students ' critical thinking skills reviewed by self-reliance learning. The research methods used are qualitative descriptive. The research subject is a grade VIII A student of SMP Negeri 3 Kalibagor which amounted to 28 people. Sampling is performed using the purposive sampling technique. In one class, selected two students with the category of the self-reliance learned to be seen, three students with the category of the self-reliance began to develop, and two students with a category of self-reliance learning culture. Collection of data using polls, tests, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing concluding. The validation test used is triangulation. The results showed that more than 80% of the students who had already filled in learning independence poll included categories began to develop. Students of self-reliance category learning culture have a better critical thinking ability compared to the students ' categories begin to look and start developing. However, students with these three learning self-reliance categories do not master the evaluation capability indicator.

The study was conducted to develop science module based on project-based learning that is feasible to be implemented in science learning and has potency to build critical thinking skills of junior high school students. The study was Research and Development (RD), modified from Borg Gall steps covering only research and information collecting, planning, preliminary form of product development, expert judgment, product revision, and final product. The subjects were 2 expert lecturers (content expert and media expert) and 2 science teachers of SMP N 1 Wonosari. The types of data were quantitative and qualitative. Data were collected by means of SSP validation sheets and disaster preparedness identification sheets. The techniques of data analysis were descriptive analysis of qualitative and quantitative to 5 grading scale. The result of the study shows that science module is feasible to be implemented in science learning and has potency to build critical thinking skills of junior high school students.

This study aims to analyze the critical thinking skills of junior high school students on Pythagoras material. Subjects in this study are students of class VIII-F in SMP Negeri 1 Ngamprah with the number of students 37 people. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. This type is chosen because it aims to describe the skills of students in solving problems of mathematical critical thinking independently. The research phase is divided into three, namely planning, implementation, and reporting. The technique of collecting data in the form of test. Data analysis techniques based on indicators of mathematical critical thinking skills that has been determined by researchers include: (1) identifying the concepts used in problem solving, (2) formulating an action (strategy, tactics, or approach) in solving problems, (3) providing arguments or reasons for answering and solving problems, and (4) evaluating evidence or decisions taken in solving the problem. The results obtained quantitatively show that the level of mathematical critical thinking skills of students in SMP Negeri 1 Ngamprah in solving the problems on Pythagoras material still falls into the low category. The evidence from the percentage of each indicator with the highest rate of only 61%. Some factors influence the level of students critical thinking skills, including the preparation of incomplete and appropriate strategies, provide arguments without showing the truth, and the students' accuracy in working on the questions.

Tujuan penelitian ini mengembangkan produk berupa Game ritual tumpe untuk peserta didik SMP Kelas VII. Penelitian menggunakan metode research and developement (R & D) yang dikembangkan oleh Thiagarajan. Penelitian mengacu pada model 4D: define (mendefinisikan), design (mendesain), develop (mengembangkan) dan disseminate (menyebarluaskan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan valid atau memenuhi kriteria kelayakan. Kategori kelayakan yang diperoleh dari ahli media dan juga guru adalah sangat valid. Implementasi media pembelajaran di dalam kelas dapat meningkatkan partisipasi aktif peserta didik sehingga berdampak pada peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Jenis penelitian menggunakan quasi eksperimen, menggunakan kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Gain score yang diperoleh pada saat pretest dan posttes pada kelas eksperimen menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan. Nilai gain score kelas eksperimen diperoleh 0,67 dan kelas kontrol 0,54 dengan kategori sedang. Efektivitas pembelajaran dilakukan dengan uji Manova dengan perolehan nilai sig. sebesar 0.000 (<0.05). Kondisi tersebut menunjukkan bahwa media yang dikembangkan valid, praktis dan efektif digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran sains di kelas VII SMP. Develop critical thinking skills with tumpe ritual games AbstractThe aim of this study was to develop product in the form of a Tumpe Ritual Game for Class VII junior high school students. The research used the research and developement (R & D) method developed by Thiagarajan. The research refers to the 4D model: define, design, develop and disseminate. The result of the study indicates that learning media developed is valid or meet the eligibility criteria. The feasibility category obtained from media experts and also the teacher is highly valid. The implementation of learning media in the classroom can increase students' active participation so that it has an impact on improving critical thinking skill. This type of research uses quasi-experimental, using the control class and the experimental class. Gain scores obtained at the pre-test and post-test in the experimental class showed significant differences. The  gain score of experimental class was 0.67 and the control class was 0.54 with the medium category. The effectiveness of learning was done by Manova test with the acquisition of sig values. amounting to 0,000 (<0.05). These condition indicated that the media developed was valid, practical and effective to be used in the process of learning science in class VII SMP.

Critical thinking is one of the 21st Century skills involved in education and is required of students nowadays. The study investigated the critical thinking skills of Junior high school students from three selected public schools in Region 3, Luzon, Philippines.  Infusion of the critical thinking in Chemistry through selected teaching strategies of inquiry-based, problem solving, collaborative, and lecture methods. CEU-Lopez Critical Thinking Skills Test (2012) with a reliability test value of 0.87 was used to measure the students’ critical thinking skill levels. Triangulation of inquiry-based teaching, problem solving, and collaborative teaching methods was used as an intervention to determine the enhancement of the respondents’ critical thinking skills and academic performance. Gathered data were processed statistically through descriptive and inferential tests.  Results revealed that there is a significant difference in the critical thinking skill levels of Junior high school students in Chemistry. The critical thinking skill levels of the student respondents were highly comparable with respect on their academic performance in Chemistry.  The students demonstrated good knowledge, attitude and performance in Chemistry after the infusion of the critical thinking approach in the intervention. The different teaching strategies utilized in the research were applicable in the enhancement of the critical thinking skills of the Junior high school students in Chemistry.

The ability to think critically is one of the highest levels of ability. Developing critical thinking skills in students is still considered important to be improved in schools so that students are able and accustomed to facing various problems around it. This study aims to analyze the critical thinking skills of junior high school students who are in excellent classes and regular classes. This research was conducted in Bandung Barat. In this study students are given a test in the form of questions with critical thinking skills, the problem is used to compare between the superior class and ordinary class. Assessment of the problem using several factors of critical ability include 1) students can not understand the problem correctly, 2) students rush in doing the problem, 3) the students cannot choose the problem-solving strategy correctly and 4) the students work on the problem systematically. Then the matter of critical thinking skills of mathematics is analyzed using quasi-experimental research method to analyze students' critical thinking ability that influence learning result. This study shows the differences in critical thinking ability of junior high school students who are in excellent class and ordinary class. This study shows that superior classes are better in mathematical critical thinking ability than a regular class. The results of this study can add knowledge about critical thinking mathematics junior high school students who are in the class and ordinary class and used to facilitate for educational practitioners in the development of critical mathematical thinking skills.

<p class="16">Covid-19 spurs teachers to carry out online learning. This study aimed to analyze the improvement of students' critical thinking skills through online learning based on Android-based PhET Simulation. This research was Quasi-Experimental using one group pre-test and post-test design involving 27 students of class VIII who program science subjects at MTs Alif Laam Miim Surabaya, Indonesia. The research instrument used critical thinking skills tests that have met valid and reliable requirements. Before and after learning activities, students were given a pre-test and a post-test. The data collected was analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results showed that there was an increase in students' critical thinking skills with an average N-gain of 0.57, in the medium category. The highest N-gain was achieved in the "interpretation" indicator, which is 0.83 in the high category and the lowest in the "analysis" indicator, which is 0.39 in the moderate category. This study concluded that learning science by using an Android-based PhET Simulation can improve the critical thinking skills of junior high school students.</p>

This study aims to produce a guided inquirybased salt hydrolysis module to improve students' critical thinking skills by determining the level of validity, practicality and effectiveness of the module. The type of research used is research development or Research and Development (R&D). The sampling technique uses cluster purposive sampling. The number of samples is 57 students from both schools. The development model used is the Plomp development model which has three stages namely the initial investigation phase (preliminary research phase), the prototype phase (prototyping phase) and the assessment phase (assessment phase). The research instruments used were interview sheets, questionnaires in the form of validation and practicality sheets, objective questions, and critical thinking questions. Data analysis techniques using SPSS 16 software. The results obtained by N-gain experimental class is higher than the control class that is experimental class 1 and 2 have N-gain 64.65 and 59.46, while control classes 1 and 2 have N-gain 60 , 83 and 58.6 with significant differences. Hypothesis test results show a significant difference between the critical thinking skills of the experimental class and the control class, both in schools with high and low student abilities.
