A rare clinical case of thyrotoxic hepatitis detected in a pregnant woman is presented. A diagnostic search was carried out to clarify the cause of hepatitis, during which the pathology of the thyroid gland was revealed. The patient was prescribed adequate therapy with a thyrostatic drug, which in a short time allowed to achieve a significant decrease in the activity of the hepatic pathological process, which made it possible to prolong pregnancy.

Objective. To demonstrate the capabilities of a comprehensive instrumental multimodal differential diagnosis of viral pneumonia in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.Material and methods. A clinical case of a patient with complicated viral pneumonia and a detailed description of the clinical picture, laboratory information, instrumental research data using minimally invasive interventions, followed by cytological and bacteriological examination, is presented.Results. While the patient was in the hospital, a comprehensive study was performed with a targeted assessment of the state of the chest organs and using minimally invasive diagnostic methods. The signs of bilateral pneumonia (probably of viral etiology, possibly corresponding to COVID-19 infection) revealed by ultrasound and MDCT of the chest organs were the basis for patient’s hospitalization.Conclusion. The multimodal instrumental approach allows to obtain a more complete picture of the pathological process in patients with viral pneumonia in a short time and minimizing radiation and determine the further tactical position in the treatment of this category of patients.

One of the most serious problems of modern medicine is sepsis. The number of patients undergoing this complication is 20–30 million (WHO) annually and has no tendency to decrease. Sepsis is characterized by severe multiple organ failure due to a violation of the response of the macroorganism to an infectious agent. Moreover, it is dangerous with high mortality. Sepsis often develops in patients with immunodeficiency conditions, which primarily include pregnant women. The article presents a clinical observation of a case of periostitis in a pregnant woman complicated by a septic state.

Introduction. Depleted uranium radiation and pollution with polychlorinated biphenyls resulting from bombings the territories of Serbia as well as the additional long-term stress may have affected the function of thyroid gland. The objective of this study was to determine the trend of drug utilization in the treatment of thyroid dysfunction during pregnancy in Novi Sad. Material and Methods. Women who had given birth at the Department of Gynecology in 1989, 1999, 2007 and 2011 were interviewed during a one-month period about thyroid diseases in the pregnancy as well as the drugs they had taken. Results. Not a single pregnant woman was reported to have a thyroid disorder in 1989 and 1999, while in 2007 four women were reported to have a thyroid dysfunction. In 2011, fourteen out of 18 women with thyroid dysfunction were using levothyroxine and in most cases hypothyroidism was diagnosed as autoimmune Hashimoto thyroiditis. Conclusion. The study results suggest the necessity of performing more detailed analyses of the correlation between the frequency of the thyroid gland dysfunction and the effects of environmental pollution in Serbia.

The purpose of our study was to study the case of successful management of pregnancy and childbirth in patient K., 39 years old with pathology of the peripheral nervous system: spinal stenosis L5 – S1, herniated L5-S1, surgery in 2014 (hemilaminectomy L5-S1, disc resection L5-S1), vertebrogenic pain syndrome. At the stage of pre-test preparation and during pregnancy, she is consulted by a neurologist to determine the tactics of pregnancy and childbirth management. Rational pregnancy planning, joint management of a pregnant woman by an obstetrician-gynecologist and a neurologist allowed choosing the optimal pregnancy management tactics and delivery method.

Anaesthesia for non-obstetric reasons is performed in 1–2% of all pregnant women. Although the chances of complications like miscarriage, preterm labour, and abortion are higher when surgery is performed during gestation, careful evaluation, preparation, and a multidisciplinary approach will minimize these risks. There are no methods of anaesthesia that are preferable to others during pregnancy. The most important preventive measure is to maintain maternal haemodynamic stability and normoventilation in order to ensure fetal well-being. Extensive knowledge of the profound anatomical and physiological changes that a pregnancy induces is mandatory for the team when operating on a pregnant woman. Short time exposure to anaesthetic agents in clinically relevant doses during surgery has never been demonstrated to have teratogenic effects. Lately, focus has been made on the possible behavioural teratogenic properties of anaesthesia, especially on the use of NMDA receptor antagonists and GABA receptor agonists. Emergency diagnostic imaging during pregnancy is considered safe and should be performed if necessary. Electroconvulsive therapy for the treatment of serious psychiatric disorders during pregnancy is a possibility that should be considered if necessary. Electric cardioversion seems safe for the fetus if life-threatening arrhythmias occur during pregnancy. Trauma is one of the leading non-obstetric causes of maternal mortality and morbidity. When treating a traumatized pregnant woman one should initially focus on the mother’s safety and haemodynamic stability.

This case concerns a premature infant with typical signs of congenital syphilis born to an untreated foreign mother. Syphilis prevalence in pregnant women has been rising in Italy since the beginning of the 21st century, mainly due to immigration. A correct antenatal syphilis screening and consequent adequate therapy of pregnant woman are fundamental to prevent the neonatal infection.

Phlegmon of a neck represents the serious illness which is characterized by development of the poured pyoinflammatory process in the cells spaces with fast distribution of purulent zatek that is caused by anatomic features. The clinical picture of a disease doesn’t allow to establish prevalence of pathological process in the preoperative period very often, and a large number of important anatomic formations don’t allow to sanify the center single-stages. The clinical supervision with option of treatment of the patient and a positive outcome is given in article.
