Aim: To identify a connection between acute and chronic pancreatitis and primary hyperparathyroidism on the base of clinical cases. To consider the features of the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic pancreatitis with primary hyperparathyroidism.Materials and methods: Over the past 10 years, there have been observed 3 cases of pancreatitis with primary hyperparathyroidism. Two patients were diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis, one patient was diagnosed with acute destructive pancreatitis. Patients were undergoing surgery, parathyroidectomy was performed. Results: Primary hyperparathyroidism is rarely associated with the occurrence of acute or chronic pancreatitis, but hypercalcemia plays an important role in the pathogenesis of these diseases. Pancreatitis usually occurs in the late stage of hyperparathyroidism, which explains the low prevalence of this association in developed countries, where primary hyperparathyroidism is diagnosed at an early stage of the disease. Conclusion: These clinical cases of radical surgical treatment of parathyroid adenoma associated with severe concomitant pathology testifies to the effectiveness of the surgical method in some cases. It is necessary to take into account severe concomitant pathology and diagnose and correct it in time.

The article is devoted to the experience of surgical treatment of pathology of the pancreas at the Center for the Treatment of Developmental Anomalies and Diseases of the Hepatopancreatobiliary System in Children on the basis of the Children’s City Clinical Hospital No. 13 named after NF Filatova: annular pancreas, acute and chronic pancreatitis, tumors and cysts of the pancreas. From 2016 to 2020, more than 267 reconstructive interventions on the pancreas were performed, including longitudinal and transverse pancreatojejunoanastamosis, pancreatoduodenal resection, cystoenteroanastamosis, sectoral and total resection of the pancreas. In the postoperative period, the most severe complication in this category of patients was arrosive bleeding, which is the main cause of all deaths after surgery.

Aim. Determine the number of hospitalizations and treatment of patients with acute (AP) and primary chronic pancreatitis (PCP) in surgical departments No 1 and No 2 of the Regional Clinical Hospital of Emergency Medical Care n. a. M. A. Podgorbunsky (Kemerovo) and surgical departments in Kemerovo region from 1993 to 2017. Methods. A comparative analysis of the number and structure of treatment of patients with AP over two decades was carried out. Number of PCP surgeries in the Regional Hepatology Center after 1995 was comparatively analyzed. Results. There was an increase in number of average annual hospitalization of patients with acute (primary and secondary) pancreatitis over the past decade by 79.7% (incidence 64.3/100000 and 125.3/100000), as well as increased number of surgeries for PCP. In urgent patients, mild pancreatitis occurred in 76.8%, pancreatic necrosis — in 23.2%. Those who had destructive pancreatitis underwent surgery in 15.1% of cases. Mortality with pancreatic necrosis reaches 7.9%. Over the last decade, compared with the past one, 26.4% more patients were operated on for PCP. Pancreatic resections were performed in 22.5% of cases, draining anastomoses were installed in 65.4% of surgical cases. Conclusion. Over 23 years, the number of hospitalized patients with AP has increased statistically significantly. 3.5% of hospitalized patients were operated on (15.1% with pancreatic necrosis). Mortality upon pancreatic necrosis reached 7.9%. AP is viewed as a predictor of chronic pancreatitis, there is a clear upward trend in the number of surgeries for PCP.

Recent studies indicate there is some disagreement concerning the interpretation and clinical utility of the Type V Bekesy pattern. Bekesy tracings obtained over the past six years from a sample of clinical cases were analyzed and a definition was established for the Type V pattern. This definition was applied to Bekesy tracings obtained from normal listeners, hypoacusics, and pseudohypoacusics. The Type V pattern was found frequently among pseudohypoacusics and only rarely among other individuals.

SummaryHaemophilia is the most frequent hereditary haemorrhagic illness and it is due to the deficiency of coagulation factors VIII (haemophilia A, HA) or IX (haemophilia B, HB).The prevalence of this disease varies according to the country, those having better survival rates having also higher prevalences. Specifically in Costa Rica, there are around 130 HA and 30 HB families. This study reports the prevalence and a spatial distribution analysis of both types of the disease in this country. The prevalence of haemophilia in this country is 7 cases per 100 000 men, for HA it is 6 cases per 100 000 and for HB it is 1 case per 100 000 male inhabitants. The prevalence of this disease is low when compared with other populations. This low prevalence could be due to the many patients that have died because of infection with human immunodeficiency virus during the 1980s. The prevalence of haemophilia in Costa Rica is almost one half of that present in developed countries. Nevertheless, the ratio between HA and HB follows world tendency: 5 : 1. In this study, nationwide geographical distribution maps were drawn in order to visualize the origin of severe cases and how this influences the pattern of distribution for both types of haemophilia. By means of these maps, it was possible to state that there is no association between the sites of maximum prevalence of mutated alleles and ethnicity. With this study, haemophilia prevalence distribution maps can be used to improve efforts for the establishment of hemophilia clinics or specialized health centers in those areas which hold the highest prevalences in this country. Also, this knowledge can be applied to improve treatment skills and offer the possibility of developing focused genetic counseling for these populations.

Vitamin A (retinol) is one of the key elements for regulating the immune response and controls the division and differentiation of epithelial cells of the mucous membranes of the bronchopulmonary system, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, eyes, etc. Its significance in the context of the COVID‑19 pandemic is difficult to overestimate. However, a number of studies conducted in the past have associated the additional intake of vitamin A with an increased risk of developing cancer, as a result of which vitamin A was practically excluded from therapeutic practice in developed countries. Our review highlights the role of vitamin A in maintaining human health and the latest data on its effect on the development mechanisms of somatic pathology.

Snapping hip syndrome is a condition in which the predominant symptom is the snapping feelingaround the hip joint caused by a dynamic impingement between muscles or tendons and boneprominences. The etiology of the snapping hip types and consequently the therapeutic targets havebeen subjects of discussion and controversy along the years. A careful clinical history and physicalexamination is frequently enough for this disease diagnosis. Treatment is typically conservative, however when it is not successful surgical treatment is indicated, consisting on the snapping muscleor tendons lengthening. The authors review in this paper the current scientific literature about functionalanatomy, physiopathology, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of snapping hip.
