Critical thinking in writing for learners is needed to able to build a sense of crisis towards any issues. This capacity is required to create a framework based on reflecting, exploring, and solving some practical problems in their learning, work, and daily lives. This article aims to enhance critical writing towards undergraduate students in conducting research. The research method used is descriptive method with qualitative approach. The data used to analyze is gotten from many research articles in international journals discussing critical writing to conduct a research proposal. The research discussion and result state that learners’ capacity to be familiar with critical thinking writing is essential. It deals with brainstorming the problems of research topics, reflecting, and exploring the issues of research topics. Students should also have the capacity to write the research background, research problem, review of related literature, and research method based on the guidelines of the research proposal. The writing skill relating to the competence of organization, elaborating content, paying attention mechanics, language use, and vocabulary become the leading and supporting capital to be successful in conducting the research proposal.

The phenomenon of critical thinking, as one aspect of learning experiences, is challenging. Yet, it reflects students’ ideas and understanding of particular matters, especially in academic writing among the English education institutions. Thus, this study was aimed to investigate how undergraduate students fashioned their understanding of being self-driven in writing research proposal relating to reading skills. The research questions drop into two big areas: 1) How is critical thinking reflected in research proposal writing, 2) What are evidences of being critical in addressing research proposal? Having three sessions of in-depth interview, fifty seven students of English department of a private university in West Java, Indonesia were involved in the reflection of their writing and reading experiences during the study. The data were collected through interview and document observation. The findings suggest that first, the critical writing is reflected by such citation and elaborative sentences as the distinctive writing features of academic writing. Second, the extended description and elaboration are made due to reading constraint. Books are mainly the sources, whereas research journal articles are still less appreciated. Thus, reading is defines as the evidence of being critical. The results of the study play significant contribution in building critical thinking, critical reading, and critical writing as self-awareness manifesto among the students of English education.

The objective of the study is to support students in the rational, logical, and analytical process that they perform when faced with a scientific problem. This study uses qualitative methodology as its purpose is to present the strategy as learning stemming from the process of analysis, which is rooted on how to detect scientifically the research problem in the field of social sciences. A statistical analysis is made on the use and application of the diagram in a sample of 27 undergraduate students who have used the situational map in the elaboration of their theses. The trend shows that 92.6% of respondents achieved concluding their research processes of thesis work, at the planned time, and their results were consistent with their hypothesis and/or purposes. The creation of this strategy is a support for students, who have not developed their ability to think critically and establish relationships between concepts and theories in the execution of scientific research.

AbstrakPenelitian ini berjudul Analisis Aspek Nasionalisme pada Film 1911Revolution (辛亥革命). Latar belakang penelitian ini beranjak dari ketertarikanterhadap karya sastra yang berlatar tentang perjuangan kaum revolusioner untukmencapai kemerdekaan. Dua hal yang menjadi rumusan masalah penelitian ini yaitu(1) apa saja aspek nasionalisme pada film Xinhai Geming dan (2) faktor apa sajayang mempengaruhi nasionalisme tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mencari,mengungkapkan, dan mendeskripsikan rumusan masalah tersebut secara utuh danterperinci. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metodedeskriptif kualitatif. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori sosiologisastra menurut Wellek dan Warren. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitianini adalah film Xinhai Geming yang disutradarai oleh Zhang Li dan Jackie Chan yangberdurasi 125 menit dan dirilis oleh Shanghai Film Group pada tanggal 23 September2011. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat aspek nasionalisme dan faktor yangmempengaruhi nasionalisme dalam film yang diwakili oleh beberapa potongankutipan dan adegan yang menunjukkan nasionalisme pada film. Twothings that formulate the research problem are (1) what are the aspects of nationalismin the film Xinhai Geming and (2) what are the factors that influence the nationalism.The purpose of this research is to find, express and describe the formulations of theproblem in a complete and detailed manner. The research method used in this studyis a qualitative descriptive method. The theory used in this study is the theory ofliterary sociology according to Wellek and Warren. The data sources used in thisstudy were the Xinhai Geming film directed by Zhang Li and Jackie Chan whichlasted 125 minutes and was released by the Shanghai Film Group on September23, 2011. The results of this study were aspects of nationalism and factors thatinfluenced nationalism in the film represented by several quotations and scenes thatshow nationalism in the film. This paper reports the recent development and implementation of three teaching modules in order to teach and enhance the students’ critical thinking skills in a level IV undergraduate/postgraduate course ‘Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for Engineering Applications’. These teaching modules include a lecture module, an online test module and a CFD project module. The lecture module introduces the importance of critical thinking skills by an example case, critical thinking definition and processes, and the application of critical thinking skills in formulation of CFD problems. In the online test module, seven online tests have been developed to enhance the students’ understanding of the contents of lectures and practical sessions. Meanwhile, students apply their critical thinking skills to work out some of the tests. In the project module, a student-driven CFD project is designed to help students to apply CFD techniques and critical thinking skills in engineering problems. In the project, students choose their own project topic and problems. They use CFD skills learned in the course and critical thinking skills to critically analyse their problems, identify the important parameters and review results. They apply the critical writing skills to finalise a project report. To the best knowledge of the author, this systematical integration of teaching and enhancement of critical thinking skills in computational fluid dynamics course is innovative. Feedback from students is quite positive shown by an anonymous survey in 2014.

Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kegiatan metode dakwah mau’izhah hasanah sebagai sarana yang diterapkan kepada anak jalanan. Secara lebih rinci tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui metode mau’izhah hasanah merupakan metode yang tepat digunakan antara metode hikmah dan metode dakwah mujadalah. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif yang melibatkan sumber data dengan seseorang yang mendirikan Komunitas Peduli Pendidikan Anak Jalanan (Koppaja), para relawan Koppaja, dan anak jalanan Koppaja di Kranji, Kota Bekasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan relawan Koppaja menggunakan metode mau’izhah hasanah dalam bentuk perilaku positif dalam kesehariannya. Mereka menasehati dengan kata-kata mendatar atau mudah dimengerti, kemudian menggunakan metode intruksi guna mengarahkan kedisiplinan dari segi di luar maupun di dalam Kegiatan Belajar Mengajar (KBM), dan metode kisah atau metode dengan bercerita untuk menjadikannya sebuah inspirasi anak jalanan. The purpose of this paper is to know the activity mau’izhah hasanah of Da’wah method’s used by medium is applied to street children. The purpose of this research more detail is to find out the method of mau’izhah hasanah is the right method used between hikmah method’s and mujadalah method’s. The research method used descriptive method involving data source from someone who founded Komunitas Peduli Pendidikan Anak Jalanan (Koppaja), Koppaja volunteers, and street children of Koppaja in Kranji, Bekasi city. The results showed that Koppaja volunteers used the method of mau’izhah hasanah in the form of positive behavior in their daily lives. They advise with flat words or easy to understand, then use the method of intruction to direct discipline in terms of outside and inside the Teaching and Learning Activities, and the method of story or method by telling stories to make it a inspiring street children.

This research is entitled 'The Value of the Struggle in the Film Better Days (少年的你 ) by Derek Tsang.' The background of this research departs from an interest in literary works set in the struggle of a girl named Chen Nian who is preparing for her college entrance exam. The formulation of the research problem is what are the values of struggle in the Better Days film. The purpose of this study is to find, reveal and describe the formulation of the problem in its entirety and in detail. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. The theory used in this research is the theory of sociology of literature according to Wellek and Warren. The data source used in this study is the film Better Days directed by Derek Tsang and released on October 25, 2019. The results of this study are the value of struggle and the influencing factors, in the film represented by several pieces of quotes and scenes. This film contains the values of struggle, including the value of helping; the value of courage; the value of self-sacrifice; the value of working together; the value of mutual respect; spirit, and never giving up. This research was motivated by the low ability of students to think mathematically critical thinking in solving problems. The research objective was to describe the students' mathematical critical thinking skills in class XI IPA 3. The research method used was descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were students of SMAN 1 Lembah Melintang class XI IPA 3. The instruments used to collect data were written tests, interviews, and documentation. The test results were analyzed based on the aspect of mathematical critical thinking skills. The results showed that mathematical critical thinking skills with high category abilities can work on critical thinking test questions properly and correctly. Furthermore, the moderate ability is not able to do critical thinking test questions well, while the low category has not been able to do critical thinking test questions properly in accordance with the aspects of mathematical critical thinking skills.
