Business actors' competition in capturing market share has made it essential for business actors to implement sustainable competitive advantage through local wisdom and innovation. It is expected to improve product quality sustainably. This study aims to analyze sustainable competitive advantage based on local wisdom and innovation in small and medium enterprises of Riau Malay traditional food in Pekanbaru. The research method used is qualitative with observation, interview, and literary techniques. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling on ten business actors and triangulation as the analysis technique in this study. This study's findings are that local wisdom factors and product innovation are a source of sustainable competitive advantage in the micro and small business sector of Riau Malay traditional food in Pekanbaru. Although innovations made in traditional Riau Malay food products, this has not made the product more homogeneous but still thick with its uniqueness and authenticity. The resources owned's heterogeneity is reflected in local knowledge, local skills, local resources, and local values in traditional Riau Malay food products, a differentiator that competitors cannot imitate.

This research was conducted on Small and Medium Enterprises in the agribusiness sector in Maros Regency by taking data on the promotion mix costs, sales volume and profits from 2017-2019. The purpose of this research is to partially determine the effect of advertising costs, promotion costs, personal selling costs on sales volume in increasing profits in agribusiness Small and Medium Enterprises in Maros district. This type of quantitative research uses an associative approach which aims to determine the effect and relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable through intervening variables. The sample in the study obtained 21 small and medium enterprises using purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique used is regression analysis with the help of SPSS and Sobel test. The results showed that advertising costs (X1) and personal selling costs (X3) had a significant effect on sales volume in increasing profits with the calculated value of the Sobel test, the Z1 value obtained was 2.0337 and Z3 was 2.168 > 1.669 and the selling promotion costs ( X2) does not have a significant effect on sales volume in increasing profits in small and medium agribusiness enterprises in Maros district. The value of the calculation of the Sobel test, the Z2 value obtained is -0.4967 < 1.669 (t table N = 63, Prob 5%).

This chapter analyzes the role of local area resources in the global hospitality market as a way for small and medium enterprises to create a portfolio of distinctive resources to reach a sustainable competitive advantage position in the international markets. After a brief introduction on the tourism industry and its main change factors the chapter adopts a resource base and market-driven approach in order to identify resources role in shaping competitive advantages. The chapter discuss a case-study on a successful example of diffused hotel in Abruzzo, Italy, identifying the core resources and those needed to support them in creating a successful tourism product.

The increasing globalization and liberalization of trade have posed onto manufacturing small and medium enterprise (SMEs) in developing economies of Africa a survival and growth challenges. Nevertheless, the resource-based-view (RBV) has given rise to a perspective that views a firm’s intangible assets as strategic resources with the potential to create and enhance sustainable competitive advantage in both local and global markets. Based on the peculiarity of SMEs in Africa, this paper develops and validate a conceptual model on the role of strategic organizational capabilities in improving the competitive advantage of SMEs for sustainable development in developing economies of Africa. Precisely, six variables were identified and reviewed as strategic capabilities. A total number of 81 valid questionnaires were retrieved from owners/managers of SMEs in Yobe state Nigeria and used to evaluate the reliability and validity of the adopted measures. The result of Cronbach’s Alpha test reveals a satisfactory value for all the variables under study. Specifically, innovation, learning, management, marketing, relational and technological capabilities have been established to be reliable strategic capabilities that would effectively and efficiently create and improve the sustainable competitive advantage of SMEs in developing economies.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perkembangan usaha dan pengetahuan perpajakan terhadap kepatuhan wajib pajak Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah. Sehingga akan diperoleh informasi mengenai kepatuhan wajib pajak dalam menjalankan kewajibannya dilihat dari faktor perkembangan usaha dan pengetahuan perpajakan wajib pajak tersebut. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah pelaku Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah yang ada di Jakarta. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan random sampling dan jumlah sampel yang diperoleh sebanyak 60 wajib pajak. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis regresi linier berganda. Hasil pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial perkembangan usaha berpengaruh terhadap kepatuhan wajib pajak dan pengetahuan perpajakan tidak beroengaruh terhadap kepatuhan wajib pajak. Namun secara simultan perkembangan usaha dan pengetahuan perpajakan berpengaruh terhadap kepatuhan wajib pajak. This study aims to determine the effect of business development and tax knowledge on taxpayer compliance of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. So that information will be obtained regarding taxpayer compliance in carrying out its obligations seen from the business development factors and tax knowledge of the taxpayer. The population in this study were the actors of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Jakarta. The sampling technique in this study used random sampling and the number of samples obtained was 60 taxpayers. The data collection technique used a questionnaire. The data analysis technique used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that partially business development has an effect on taxpayer compliance and knowledge of taxation has no effect on taxpayer compliance. However, simultaneously, business development and tax knowledge affect taxpayer compliance.

This study aims to analyze financial literacy and find out the factors that influence the financial literacy ofmicro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the city of Bandung. This study uses a quantitativeapproach to the type of verification research. Primary data is obtained through the distribution ofquestionnaires to MSMEs players in the city of Bandung. The sampling technique uses proportional randomsampling with a sample size of 30 respondents. Other data is obtained through library observation andstudy. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression. The results showed that the financialliteracy of SMEs in the city of Bandung was in the medium category. There are several factors thatsimultaneously influence financial literacy, namely age, formal education level, and business income. Whilepartially only the formal education level and business income that influences the level of financial literacy.While age does not have an effect on the level of financial literacy.

Purpose – This study aims to analyse the effect of the implementation of PSBB on the development of Retail MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises).Method – Respondents in the study were 100 respondents. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling, with the criteria for Retail MSMEs actors in Garung District, Wonosobo Regency, and at least the business had been operating for one year. The data analysis technique used in this research was SEM Smart PLS.Result – The development of Retail MSMEs was significantly influenced by the implementation of PSBB and was moderated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Implication – This study can assist businesses and the government during a pandemic outbreak.Originality – This is the first study examining the influence of a pandemic outbreak on the development of MSMEs in the retail industry.

After the local war, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have been facing huge problems in Jaffna District and they have poor quality of product and services. The purpose of this paper is to explore the meaningful value addition strategies to access standards for products of micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) for establishing a competitive advantage. Coconut is vital sector of SMEs and also one of the major resources in Jaffna district. This sector has the greatest prospects for growth and development. Value addition for coconut based productions leads to more quality and creates adequate demand for the products. Thus researcher scoped coconut sector among the MSMEs. The research is qualitative in nature with exploratory narrative research. Under purposive sampling technique, the owners or managers of enterprises and stake holders of MSMEs were interviewed by using unstructured questions to explore the value addition. The author proposed two momentous models; they are model of values addition strategies to access standards as a tool for competitive advantage and collaborative institutional model to access standards with the participation of government and non-government organizations. The findings are; first model induces MSMEs to access standards and second model explains the means to achieve the standard. Especially this research expresses the essential of sincere collaborative work of institutions towards the quality productions and development of MSMEs. Further this research points out that the notion of value addition practices has been evolved and is increasingly understood consideration for economic development of Sri Lanka.

This study aimed at determining the effects of knowledge management and creation capability on the performance of SMEs in Kogi State. The research survey design was adopted for this study. For data analysis, descriptive and inferential analytical techniques were used. The analytical techniques employed are survival analysis and multiple regression analysis (stepwise). Findings showed that socialization has a significant effect on the competitive advantage of both Small and Medium Enterprises in Kogi State; externalization has a significant effect on the competitive advantage of Medium Enterprises in Kogi State; the combination of resources can predict the competitive advantage of both Small and Medium Enterprises in Kogi State. Findings further showed that combination, internalization, socialization, and externalization strongly and significantly predict the business growth of SMEs in Kogi State. The study concluded that the ability of SME owners to manage knowledge can translate into a better chance of achieving the enterprise's goals. The study recommended that SME owners should channel their knowledge creation towards socialization and a combination of resources; owners of Medium Enterprises should take advantage of knowledge creation through externalization to facilitate sustainable competitive advantage in Kogi State. Furthermore, SME owners and economic stakeholders should find alternative ways of promoting effective knowledge management and creation in Kogi State.

The contribution of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to economic growth makes the performance of SMEs need to be improved, but in creating the optimal performance it needs a competitive advantage that must be owned by every SME. The competitive advantage can be influenced by several factors. This research was conducted with the aim to analyze the influence of entrepreneurial leadership and innovation capacity toward competitive advantage on SMEs of the Trade Service Department of Surabaya City. This study uses a quantitative approach. Data collection was done by distributing questionnaires. Data analysis technique used is analysis of The Structural Equation Model (SEM) with Partial Least Square (PLS) program. The results of this study found that entrepreneurial leadership and innovation capacity have a significant effect on competitive advantage on SMEs of the Department of Commerce Surabaya City. Keywords: Entrepreneurial Leadership, Innovation Capacity, Competitive Advantage
