The article analyses the limitations of the semiotic approach to the studies of late socialism in Poland through the critique of Semiotic of solidarity: an analysis of the discourses of the Polish Unites Workers' Party and the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union Solidarność in 1981 written by Paweł Rojek in 2009. This paper questions the assumption made by Rojek about the historical continuity of the Russian ancien régime and Soviet modernisation project as supposedly constituting the same system of intelligibility. There is an alternative approach of reading the discursive relationship between Eastern and Western bloc through the genealogy of discursive practices instead of the duality of two semiotic systems as described by the Tartu-Moscow Semiotic School. Finally, the article assesses the applicability of Rojek’s interpretation of Solidarity as belonging to the ternary system and the Party as belonging to the binary system.

AbstractMulitimodal is a study that analyzes the meaning of text containing two or more semiotic systems; linguistic, visual, audio, gesture and place. Analyzing multimodal through semiotic approach has been used in the analysis of cover magazine (Gill, 2015), mascara advertisement (Baykal, 2016), cartoon movie (Wulan, 2017), and music video (Brady, 2015). Meanwhile, in this research the writer analyzes multimodal in beauty product advertisement especially lipstick product. This research is intended to, 1) investigate how verbal and visual elements conveyed meanings in both Wardah Lip Cream Matte Lipsticks and Purbasari Hi Matte Lip Cream advertisements. 2) find the comparison between verbal and visual elements used in Wardah Exclusive Matte Lip Cream and Purbasari Hi Matte Lip Cream advertisements. This research used descriptive qualitative method. Based on the data of analysis, it reveals that the visual and verbal processes of these advertisements are in harmony and they complement each other to give a complete message to the audience. The analysis also reveals the similarities of these two advertisements in the three level of metafunctions. In ideational metafunction the most dominant processes used are material and attributive processes, for interpersonal metafunction the most dominant mood used is declarative and for textual metafunction the most dominant theme used is unmarked topical theme. Keywords: Advertisement, beauty product, multimodal analysis, verbal element, visual element.

Abstract The enthalpies of mixing in liquid alloys of the ternary Al–Gd–Mn system were determined over a wide range of compositions by means of isoperibolic calorimetry at 1650 K. The measurements of the partial enthalpies of components were performed along five sections: for the ΔH̅ Al (sections with x Gd/x Mn = 0.30/0.70 and 0.65/0.35 for x Al changed from 0 up to 0.30); for the ΔH̅ Gd (x Al/x Mn = 0.80/ 0.20 and 0.50/0.50 for x Gd changed from 0 up to 0.30); for the ΔH̅ Mn (x Al/x Gd = 0.29/0.71 for x Mn changed from 0 up to 0.26). The enthalpies of mixing in the ternary system were found to be exothermic and steadily increasing in absolute values from the Mn corner towards the Al–Gd constituent binary system, reaching the minimum value of approximately – 37 kJ · mol–1 in the vicinity of the Al0.6Gd0.4 composition, evidently related to the formation of stable Al2Gd phase.

Abstract One of the main steps in choosing the drug nanoparticle production processes by supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) is determining the solubility of the solid solute. For this purpose, the solubility of Ketoconazole (KTZ) in the SC-CO2, binary system, as well as in the SC-CO2-menthol (cosolvent), ternary system, was measured at 308–338 K and 12–30 MPa using the static analysis method. The KTZ solubility in the SC-CO2 ranged between 1.70×10− 6 and 8.02×10− 4, while drug solubility in the SC-CO2 with cosolvent varied from 2.7×10− 5 to 1.96×10− 4. This difference indicated the significant effect of menthol cosolvent on KTZ solubility in the SC-CO2. Moreover, KTZ solubilities in the two systems were correlated by several empirical and semiempirical models. Among them, Sodeifian et al., Bian et al., MST, and Bartle et al. models can more accurately correlate experimental data for the binary system than other used models. Also, the Sodeifian and Sajadian model well fitted the solubility data of the ternary system with AARD,%= 6.45, Radj= 0.995.

This work presents the systematized Russian and foreign scientific knowledge about the specific functioning of advertisement discourse in multiethnic society. The methodology of this research is based on the structural semiotic approach, functional analysis, an institutional-discourse method, an activity approach. The analysis of a big number of advertisement texts served the basis for typological classification of ethno cultural codes in the structure of media advertisement communication. The idea of this typology is heterogeneity advertisement texts, which are organized on the basis of the three semiotic systems: visual, verbal and acoustic. The understanding and realization of the idea of hybrid text modeling in the advertisement design allows one to improve its effectiveness, which results from the increase of the level of advertising information perception and the degree of its impact to the people. This demonstrates the importance of such professional qualities for advertisement specialists as the readiness and ability to work in multicultural society.

The solubility of TNT and RDX was measured in supercritical carbon dioxide fluid at 303.0, 308.0, 323.0, 338.0 K, and over the pressure range from 10.0 MPa to 50.0 MPa. This study examined the influences of extraction temperature, extraction pressure and support effect (SE) between molecules of TNT and RDX on their solubility in the TNT/RDX/SC-CO2 system. The results show that solubility of TNT and RDX in TNT/RDX/SC-CO2 ternary system is much higher than that in binary system. The values of SE of RDX and TNT increase first and decrease then with the pressure changing. The pressure turning point occurred over the pressure range from 25 MPa to 28 MPa for TNT and from 13 MPa to 20 MPa for RDX.

Tantalum (Ta) addition is one of the promising method for increasing the strength of Ni-based wrought alloys such as Inconel 718, because Ta is an element having a high melting temperature. For wrought alloys, it is necessary to make clear the phase relationships at 700~1000°C, but there is a few report on phase diagrams of Ni-Ta and Ni-Ta-Al systems at those temperatures. In this study, the phase diagram in Ni-rich region of Ni-Ta-Al system at 800°C, which is the important temperature for the practical use of the wrought alloys, was investigated. The equilibrium relations of each phase were examined by a conventional XRD, SEM/EDX and TEM observations. It was found that the γ-phase region expanded considerably towards Ta-rich compositional region in Ni-Ta-Al system at 800°C. Also, it was observed that the γ phase precipitated secondarily in the primary precipitated γ’ phase in Ni-10.5mol%Ta-5.5mol%Al alloy. Ni8Ta phase was not detected even in Ni-Ta binary system in this study, although this phase was reported previously.
