The Sucuriju community, extreme east of the Amapa State has its economy moved by the fishery and the capture of the "caranguejo-uça" (Ucides cordatus). The methodology consisted in the in-locu observation and survey questionary analysis of the Z-4 fishery association (124 fishermen), were considered: fishery region, apparatus used, captured species and others. The fishery in the community is divided among two main regions: the Lakes region, where the fishery is done by 36 % of the fishermen, and the coastal region practiced by 56 % of the fishermen. One of the factors affecting this division is the economic importance of the most captured species: the Gurijuba (Arius parkerii), found at the coast, with a relative capture frequency of 61 %; and the Pirarucu(Arapaima gigas), natural species of the lakes, has a relative capture frequency of 39 %. This work identified important differences between the two fishery regions, the coast is inserted in a fishery activity based in unbalanced work relations that affects the traditional activity cause by changes in the captured fish species. However, the catchment in the lakes has been responsible for the maintenance of the concious and rational use of the fishery resources in the region.

The globalization of the economy encourages massive population displacements and inevitably generates a cosmopolitization of societies. This leads to concern, misunderstanding and rejection. The most vulnerable social groups in society can perceive the population as intruders and enemies in social competition. Undoubtedly, the extreme spatial instability of fishery resources is among the many factors affecting migration dynamics. Various reasons for the mobility of fishermen are relevant around this concept. These include aspect related to traditions, to the capitalisation of activity, to technological innovations, and to innovation exchanges concerning the location of fish stocks. This article reflects on spatial increase of fishermen’s. The analyse are part of the paradigm of the sustainable management of common renewable resources, in particular fishery resources. It presents three lines of analysis: the reason for mobility; the choice of destination; and are the integration into host units.

Arunachal Pradesh being rich in fishery resources biophysically, the status of the fish diversity is not known from all the water bodies. A case study was undertaken in the river Siyom (28°11′25′′-28°10′52′′N and 94°45′17′′-97°47′51′′E) of West Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh from 2002 to 2004 with the fragmentary work till 2007. For the purpose, sampling of fish was done from the river time to time using local contraption along with modern nets. A total of 44 species of fishes belongs to 9 families were identified. Fishes of family Cyprinidae were found to be dominant followed by Balitoridae. Some of the fish species were found very rare in the river, which may be due to various anthropogenic factors. Therefore, in addition to social restriction on community fishing some awareness measures need to be taken to prevent the destructive fishing activities in the river.DOI: 10.3126/on.v8i1.4324

By using repeated load triaxial test method, test results of permanent strain of fine sand were obtained. The main factors affecting permanent strain of fine sand samples are water content, degree of compaction and deviator stress. Permanent strain of sand is less sensitive to moisture when compared to clay and silt. Well compacted fine sand subgrade is less affected by the change of water content, which illustrates a more stable long-term performance. Analyze from meso-structure, the ellipsoid shaped particle is less stable than sphere shaped one under the effect to repeated load. Fine sand with smaller amount of ellipsoid shaped particle would have better dynamic behaviors. Predicting models of permanent strain with basic soil physical properties were established using regression analysis.

Ucides cordatus is the most commercially important mangrove crab in Brazil. In spite of its economic importance, there are few studies of its reproduction, in particular the female reproductive system. The present study describes the histology and histochemistry of the spermathecae of U. cordatus. Adult females were caught monthly from July 2004 through June 2005, at Iguape, State of São Paulo. The crabs were anaesthetized, and their spermathecae removed and fixed in Davidson's fluid, following the histological routine for paraffin. The slides were stained with HE, xylidine Ponceau, PAS, alcian blue (pH 1.0 and 2.5), Sudan black B and picrosirius-haematoxylin. Histologically, the spermathecae possesses a capsule of conjunctive tissue, rich in collagen fibres, which surrounds the secretory columnar epithelium. In the lumen, individual sperm packets are not observed; the spermatophores are intermixed with the seminal fluid and secretions of the spermathecae itself. A large proportion of the free spermatozoids and spermatophores are arranged in homogeneous masses in the proximal part of the spermathecae. The secretion produced by the columnar epithelium appears to promote the movement of the gametes to the fertilization chamber, in a ventral position, allowing fertilization of the oocytes. Histochemically, the secretion produced by the columnar epithelium was strongly positive for neutral polysaccharides, positive for acid polysaccharides, and weakly positive for proteins and lipids. This secretion forms a glycoprotein matrix which is associated with maintenance of the spermatophores, which can remain stored for long periods.

Branchiurans are parasites from the buccal cavity, gills, skin, and fins of various fish species. The Neotropical region has one of the highest diversity of branchiurans. On Arapaima gigas, only four species of branchiurans have been reported. The present study improves the knowledge on host and geographical range of Dolops striata. Fish were collected from a fish farm in the State of Pará, Brazil. All A. gigas were parasitized by Dolops striata, which were collected from the fins and body surface. This is the first record of D. striata in A. gigas. The high prevalence detected warns the possibility of an increase in the number of D. striata infesting A. gigas, which may cause some problems for fish-farmers.

Abstract Seven hundred and twenty four fish specimens were captured from March to September 2016. The materials used in the current study were cast nets, hand nets. Eight cyprinid fish species were studied for their length-weight relationships. Parameter b in the LWR was 3.03, 3.06, 3.02, 2.29, 2.82, 3.43, 2.73 and 2.47 for Schizothorax plagiostomus, Schizothorax esocinus, Racoma labiata, Tor putitora, Barilius vagra, Garra gotyla, Puntius ticto and Arassius auratus respectively. Current study is the first attempt on the LWRs of cyprinid species, provide a baseline approach for conservation and /management of local fish fauna of economic importance.
