<p>This research was conducted to find out whether structural analysis can improve the students’ vocabulary and how significant the use of structural analysis improves the students’ vocabulary of class A first semester students of Business English and Management Concentration. This research was classroom action research which was done in two cycles. Field note and test were used as the instrument of data collecting. The data of the students’ pre-test and progress-test score were analyzed by using mean score and the data of observation was analyzed descriptively. The finding of this research was the students’ vocabulary was improved from the pre-test and the progress test of the first and second cycle. The mean score of the pre-test is 44.0. Then, the mean score of the first students’ progress test was 62.8, and 70.5 for the second progress test. And the result from the field note supported the finding of the test that was the students’ vocabulary improved from the first cycle to the second cycle after giving the treatment by the researcher.<br />Key words: improving, vocabulary, structural analysis, classroom action research.</p>

<p>This research was purposed to find out how the use of structural analysis improve the reading comprehension of E class second semester students of Business English and Management Major Tonggak Equator Polytechnic in the academic year 2017-2018 and how significant does the use of structural analysis improve the reading comprehension of E class second semester students of Business English and Management Major Tonggak Equator Polytechnic in academic year 2017-2018. This research was classroom action research which was set out in two cycles, they are the first and second cycle. The subject of this research was E class second semester students of Business English and Management Concentration of Tonggak Equator Polytechnic in the academic year 2017-2018. Field note and test were used in collecting the data. The test consists of pre-test and progress-test. The data of the students' pre-test and progress-test score were analyzed by using the mean score and the data of the observation by using field note was analyzed descriptively. The finding of the research was structural analysis positively improved the reading comprehension of E class second semester students of Business English and Management Major Tonggak Equator Polytechnic in academic year 2017-2018 within two cycles, and the significance of the use of structural analysis in improving the reading comprehension of E class second semester students of Business English and Management Major Tonggak Equator Polytechnic in academic year 2017-2018 could be seen based on the test given they were 64 for the pre-test, 71.6 for the first progress-test and 83.4 for the second progress-test, and from the field note, that the students looked tired, sleepy, looked for answer from student beside them and could not finish the test by the time given by the researcher in the first cycle but have significant progress in the second cycle that the students looked more relax in doing the test and could finish the test by the time given by the researcher.<br />Keywords: reading comprehension, structural analysis, classroom action research.</p>

This study was carried out to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery through English movie in MAN 01 of Bengkulu City in academi year 2017/2018. The subjects of this study were consisted of 30 students.The method used in this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The Clasroom Action Research design applied in this study was a collaborative classroom action research. It means that the researcher collaborated with the English teacher as an observer and collaborator. The study was carried out in three cycles. Each cycles consisted of three meetings. The data were gathered in this study through field note and test. The result of the study showed that there was improvement on students’ vocabulary mastery. Most of the students gradually gained good scores at the end of each cycles. The score of Minimum Mastery Criterion- Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) of English subject was 70. In pre-assessment, the result of the students score was failed, where the mean score of the students was 9,56 (very poor). In cycle 1 the result of the students score was still poor. In cycle 2 the result of the students score has some progresses, and in the cycle 3 the result of the students score has improve effectively than action in cycle before. Where the mean score of the students was 13,23 (good). In addition, there was a positive response from the English Teacher about implementing the action. In conclusion, English movie could improve students’ vocabulary mastery.

This research aims to improve students reading comprehension on recounttext by using Question Answer Relationship (QAR) strategy. This researchis a classroom action research which was conducted in three cycles. Theparticipants of this research consist of the teacher and the students in classX IIS 3 of SMAN 1 Sungai Raya. The researcher collected the data ofstudents improvement in reading comprehension by observing the datathrough reading test, observation checklist, field note and self-assessmentforms. The result showed that students problems in comprehending recounttext had been solved by using QAR strategy. Right There and Think andSearch question improved students understanding of generic structure andlanguage features of recount text. The mean score of students readingcomprehension enhanced in each cycle. In the first cycle, the students meanscore was 57.2, it increased to 68.8 in the second cycle, and 82 in the thirdcycle. In other words, Question Answer Relationship (QAR) strategyimproved students reading comprehension of recount text.

The objective of this research is to improve students’ vocabulary and activity during teaching-learning process using mind mapping as a teaching method. This is a classroom action research conducted at Semarang University and the sample is taken from the first semester students of law faculty. This classroom action research applies two cycles. Each cycle includes planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The result showed that through mind mapping students can master English vocabulary easily especially English vocabulary for law, their test score improved, and they became active enough in participating in class such as asking and answering question, delivering opinion, and completing task.

This study aims to investigate of implementation of Steller application to improve students’ writing Descriptive text and students’ responses about Steller application in writing Descriptive text. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) method proposed by Kemmis and McTaggart (1998, cited in Burns, 2009). This research consisted of two cycles and each cycle consisted of four steps, they were: planning, actin, observation, and reflection. Each cycle was conducted in two meetings. To collect and analyze the data, the researcher used observation, questionnaire, and test. The result of this research shows that using Steller application in learning writing Descriptive text can improve students’ writing Descriptive text. The improvement of students’ writing Descriptive text also supported by the achievement of students’ test score. The students’ mean score of pre cycle test was 63.32, the mean score of test in cycle 1 was 73.58 and the mean score of test in cycle 2 was 79.19. it means that score test of cycle 1 was higher than pre cycle test and score test of cycle 2 was higher than mean score of test in cycle 1. The students’ responses showed that they were interested in learning writing Descriptive txt, because it was easier for them to write, it increased their motivation in learning, and Steller application game the students easy steps to write Descriptive text. Therefore it can be concluded that the implantation of Steller application improves students’ writing Descriptive text significantly at tenth grade of SMA Pasundan Cikalongkulon Cianjur.

The aim of the research were to explain how cooperative learning improved student’s activeness and the factors influence students’ activeness in writing descriptive text at the grade VII students of SMPN 8 Padang. The research was Classroom Action Research. The data were collected through observation , field note, writing task and test score. The students were asked to decribe people by giving outline and describe animals based on the pictures given. The finding showed that (1) Cooperative Learning improved students’ activeness in writing Descriptive Text. It was really effective in motivating and encouraging students to be actively involved in teaching and learning process.(2) This research also revealed that there were two factors inluence students’ activenes.The factors involve teacher personal aproach and teacher motivation.

This research aimed to explain the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension dealing with and word meaning main ideas and interpretive comprehension dealing conclusion. To explain the improvement, the researcher used a classroom action research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles in which every cycle consisted of four meetings. The location of this research was taken from the first semester students of English Education Department with a number of the subject were 25 students. The research findings indicated that the application of Inquiry Method was significant in improving the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension and interpretive comprehension. It was proved by the mean score of the cycle I was 68, 47. It was classified as fair then improved to be 81, 20. It was classified as good in cycle II. They are higher than the mean score of diagnostic test namely 58.40 that classified as poor. Therefore there was the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension dealing with word meaning and main ideas and interpretive comprehension dealing conclusion.Keywords: Inquiry, Reading, Comprehension, Method.

This research is based on the students� problems in writing argumentative essay, especially in developing and organizing ideas, using good grammar and diction, and applying correct writing mechanics, such as the use of capital letter, spelling, and punctuation. The purpose of this research is to solve the students� problems in writing argumentative essay through collaborative writing strategy. The design employed in this research was classroom action research. The participants involved in this research were 23 students of English Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Lancang Kuning Pekanbaru, Indonesia. The instruments used in this research were writing test, field note, observation checklist, and interview. Based on the result of the test, the students� score had reached the criteria of success set, and it was significantly improved from the result before the research conducted. The mean score of the mid-term test was 54.9, and the mean score of the cycle test was 74.3. In addition, based on the data gained from the field note, observation checklist, and interview, it was found that the students were active, creative, and enjoy the learning process. In conclusion, the use of collaborative writing strategy can solve the students� problems in writing argumentative essay as well.Keywords: writing skill; writing aspects; argumentative essay; collaborative writing strategy; �classroom action research.

This Collaborative Classroom Action Research aimed at enhancing students’ speaking skill through the application of Circle Game. It was conducted in one cycle consisting of two meetings. The subject was the seventh of C class of SMPN 2 Alas Barat consisting of 22 students. The types of data were qualitative (acquiring observation during the learning process) and quantitative (speaking tests). The results qualitatively showed that the implementation of Circle Game enhanced the students’ speaking skills. Such improvement could be seen from their enthusiasm, their interesting feeling in various materials presented by the teacher, their active involvement. In the quantitative findings, the result also showed a higher value of the mean score of the post-test (77.34) rather than the pre-test (75.75). In conclusion, the use of Circle Game can improve students’ speaking skill.
