The term “urban mass transit” generally refers to scheduled intra-city service on a fixed route in shared vehicles. Public transportation is an important contributing factor to urban sustainability. Effective transportation networks that incorporate public transit livable by easing commute and transportation needs and increasing accessibility. To assess public transportation accessibility in metropolitan networks, two indices are used: the supply level of urban public transportation facilities resource and the public transportation-private automobile traveling time ratio. As the research in the Wolaita sodo town region and the assessment system, an evaluation technique for urban public transportation facility resource supply is developed based on accessibility. Accessibility is a representative indicator for evaluating the supply of bus system. Traditional studies have evaluated the accessibility from different aspects. Considering the interaction among land use, bus timetable arrangement and individual factors, a more holistic accessibility measurement is proposed to combine static and dynamic characteristics from multisource traffic data. The objective is to highlight the main lessons learned and identify knowledge gaps to guide the design and evaluation of future transport investments. Moreover, studies looking at ways to improve the operational efficiency of systems and those seeking to promote behavioral changes in transport users offer great potential to generate learning that is useful for the public and private actors involved.

The prerequisites of public transport electrification and the need to reduce CO2 emissions in the transport sector are investigated. It has been established that electricity is a universal energy source that can help diversify primary energy sources for transport and increase energy security. Positive socio-economic effects from the use of electricity in the transport sector are identified. The competitive advantages of using electric transport in the system of public transportation are determined. Global experience of electrification of passenger transportation is analyzed. An important driving force for the creation and development of the market was government support, which was carried out by adopting relevant legislative norms and implementing various initiatives at both the national and regional levels. The development of the legislative framework for the support of environmentally friendly modes of transport in the world economy markets is divided into stages. The current state of public electric transport in Ukraine is explored. The system of reform measures for the public electric transport in Ukraine is determined.

The increasing amount of people traveling in the city of Mataram causes the demand for satisfactory public transportation both in terms of quantity and quality. Damri Bus is one of the transportation that provides passenger public transportation services with one of the routes, specifically Lombok International Airport (LIA) - Mataram. The purpose of this research is to find out how much the Damri Bus passenger transportation rates are based on vehicle operating costs (VOC) route BIL - Mataram. The method used to analyze passenger transportation rates based on VOC is using the PCI (Pacific International Consultant) method. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the Damri Bus VOC is Rp 2,788,439, while the results of the data analysis based on the VOC obtained average rates in the Morning is Rp15,015, in the Noon is Rp 13,223 and in the Afternoon is Rp 42,262, with an average tariff is Rp 23,499 , 89. The actual tariff of Damri Bus routes BIL - Mataram is Rp. 30,000, the results show that the results of the tariff analysis with the actual tariff are still appropriate.

First-mile and last-mile travel is the bottleneck of using the public transportation service. This paper considers the passenger matching and vehicle routing problem in the first-mile ridesharing service connecting train schedules. Then a mixed integer model is proposed to formulate the problem. Since the problem is NP hard, we develop a simulated annealing (SA) algorithm with four neighborhood structures to solve this problem. Experiments are designed to test the proposed model and algorithm. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of the algorithm and demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can obtain satisfactory solutions within a reasonably short time.

Improvements to public transportation services are being made, or can be made, to offer better public transportation services for older travelers. Communities in which some of the most forward-looking ideas have been applied were examined. A number of short-term, low-cost improvements have been shown to be beneficial, but new perspectives are also needed. In the long run, multiple types of services, offered at varying prices, are needed to replace the “one size fits all” approach to public transportation with options that riders could choose on their own to fit the specific demands of individual days and trips. Shared-ride, demand-responsive services, dispatched and controlled through advanced technologies, could provide higher levels of service than now available and at higher levels of productivity and cost-effectiveness. Frequent, comfortable, affordable, spontaneous service to a wide variety of origins and destinations over a wide range of service hours is what seniors desire. A serious challenge for the public transportation industry will be finding ways of providing such services while collecting revenues that cover their costs. A key finding of this research is that the transportation service attributes most highly valued by older riders are not markedly different from those valued by other transit riders, so that improvements that would best serve older riders will also attract significant numbers of other riders.

The small and medium-size cities are facing problems related to mobilitythat could be avoided by adopting the public transportationsystem, as buses and trains. However, in many Brazilian cities theuse of public transportation is neglected because it is considereduncomfortable, expensive and insecure. To attract passengers forsuch kind of transportation there are several possible approaches, the promotion of comfort perception is one of those. Several studieshave already approached this problem, however, few of themaddressed the perception of comfort felt by the passengers usingtelemetry data collected from the vehicle. Among the works thatuse such data, none of them applied data mining techniques toabstract a general model of comfort perception. Therefore, thiswork aims to apply mining techniques over telemetry data collectedfrom vehicles to build a comprehensible model to classifythe level of comfort of public transportation passengers. To achievethis objective machine learning techniques were used, centered ondecision trees. Due to the complexity of abstracting the model therewere constructed three models, one for each acceleration axis thatwere merged using a meta-classifier responsible to point out thepassenger general comfort. The results have reached an accuracyof 85,2%, which can be considered a promising result regardingthe difficulties of separating the data source in sets that can betteridentify the bus drivers behaviour.

Connectivity between transportation nodes is crucial in encouraging the movement of people and goods, including access to Adi Soemarmo Airport. Currently, access to Adi Soemarmo Airport is dominated by private vehicles and taxis compared to public transportation such as buses which can be costly for some passengers. To cut the cost of transportation in Adi Soemarmo airport, the Ministry of Transportation has built railway access to Adi Soemarmo Airport from Solo Balapan Station and vice versa. However, the scheme of train’s tariff is solely designed to accommodate only operational and maintenance cost, while the ability and willingness of passengers to pay are simply neglected. This research aims to analyse willingness to pay of airplane passenger for the operation plan of airport train based on mode choice model and contingent valuation method and finally be able to determine the tariff based on willingness to pay and train operating costs. Mode choice model uses logit binomial in terms of differences with a stated preference method, willingness to pay analysis uses the net economic value from binomial logit and train operating cost calculations use the Minister of Transportation Regulation Number PM 17 the Year 2018. The average value of willingness to pay of prospective airport train users for each car, taxi and bus users based on binomial logit model is IDR14,802.42, IDR14,121.13, IDR14,221.42. Meanwhile, the value of the ability to pay for each car, taxi and bus users is IDR60,996.90, IDR79,564.67, IDR55,117.17 and the tariff value based on train operating costs is IDR17,730.22.
