Infectious diseases are one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in developing countries. Sometimes concurrent infections with multiple infectious agents may occur in one patient, which make the diagnosis and management a challenging task. The authors here present a case of co-infection of typhoid fever with dengue fever in a ten-year-old child and discuss the pertinent issues. The authors emphasize that the risk factors predicting the presence of such co-infections, if developed, will be immensely useful in areas where dengue outbreak occurs in the background of high transmission of endemic infections.

Here we report the consumption of traditional cottage cheese (Koupé) in western Iran, as a new way of transmission of botulism. All the patients (a nine member family) had at least two specific symptoms of botulism. Given the clinical symptoms and contact history, anti-toxins were injected in the early hours of hospital admission. On Jan 27, 2017, three patients clinically suspected of foodborne botulism were referred to the hospital in Sanandaj, western Iran from their local hospital in Baneh, western, Iran. Because of the worsening of clinical conditions, a 34-yr-old man with both gastrointestinal and neurological symptoms was admitted to the ICU, while other family members were treated in the infectious diseases ward of the hospital. The disease was diagnosed through isolating toxin A from the cheese and testing the serum sample of one of the patients. This case of botulism showed that traditional Koupé cheese could cause foodborne botulism. Hence, it is necessary to train and inform people about how to process and keep the cheese to prevent similar cases.

Fever is a common symptom in childhood and primarily suggests infectious diseases. The syndrome of periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis and cervical adenitis (PFAPA syndrome) is a periodic fever syndrome of unknown incidence and is not rare in childhood. In this case report, the management of a patient who was followed up for PFAPA syndrome during a fever attack is presented.

Immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia (IMHA) may be primary or secondary. In primary IMHA, no underlying cause can be found, whereas secondary IMHA is triggered by an underlying cause, such as neoplasia, infectious diseases, or drugs. This paper describes 3 dogs with typical signs of IMHA that was possibly associated with the intestinal parasite Ancylostoma caninum. As intestinal helminths can be difficult to diagnose on faecal examination, it would be pertinent to performmultiple faecal examinations on any animal that has IMHA with no apparent underlying cause, as part of the therapy.

Adverse drug reactions(ADRs) are noxious and unintended occurring in doses routinly used for diagnosis, treatment, prophylaxis of disease or for modification of physiological functions. Skin is the most commonly involved organ followed by GIT system although ADRS may involve any system. Ofloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic. It is considered as second-generation fluoroquinolone. It is effective for treatment of a wide variety of infectious diseases acting against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. We present a case of hypersensitivity reaction to oral ofloxacin. Being rarity we thought of reporting this case.

Generally, the most common triggers for Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) are infectious diseases, such as Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) or pneumonia. However, emphysematous infections are significant diseases rarely associated with DKA. Here, we present two cases of emphysematous urinary tract infection associated to diabetic ketoacidosis, highlighting the importance of a timely intervention and treatment. We review the need for appropriate laboratory and image testing in the context of infected patients who do not reach inflammatory/ glycemic goals to diagnosticate complicated infectious processes. This case report and mini-review also explore pathophysiology, the association of DKA and urinary emphysematous infections and treatment options.

Abstract Background: A newly infectious diseases named coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emerged in China and now has spread in many countries, and constituted a public health emergency of international concern. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is used as salvage therapies in critical COVID-19 patients with respiratory/cardiac failure. Case presentation: A 49-year-old female patient was diagnosed with COVID-19 and progressed to critical cases, she was successfully treated with the application of awake extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. This case is the first reported successfully treatment of application awake ECMO in critical COVID-19 patient in China. Conclusions: Here we present the first reported successfully treatment of application awake ECMO in critical COVID-19 patient, however, whether awake ECMO can be widely used in the treatment of critical COVID-19 patients need more practice.

Paediatric cases of acute acalculous cholecystitis (AAC) are due to infectious diseases or immune mediated disorders. Hereby, we present a case of 6 months old infant who presented with excessive crying with irritability and tenderness over right hypochondrium region with a palpable liver. Investigations revealed   AAC and anaemia. In the work-up of anaemia, vitamin B12 deficiency was diagnosed and after giving treatment with vitamin B12, anaemia resolved as well as AAC. Through this case report we intent to emphasize the possibility of vitamin B12 deficiency presenting as AAC.
