The present study sought to highlight the importance of protection against electric discharges to a school in the public school of the city of Manaus-AM, based on the basic recommendations and guidelines for making decisions presented in the elaboration of a ADPS proposal. The methodology of the work was based on the collection of information on the subject from the theoretical-bibliographic research, as well as the accomplishment of the field research in the school through the technical visits for data collection. The results of the research were presented in the technical verification report of the ADPS need at school, so the study carried out a detailed study on the protection risk management, the analysis of the risk components to the atmospheric discharges, general risk assessment, evaluation the design of the protection system. Based on the report, the research presented the appropriate recommendations to assist school management in decision making, considering the importance of protecting the public heritage from the damages caused by the atmospheric discharges.

Brazil is a country with high incidences of atmospheric discharges and during the year, several people are killed by these discharges. The main known discharge protection measure is the SPDA (Atmospheric Discharge Protection System). In this sense, this work proposes to present the measurements of SPDA (System of Protection Against Atmospheric Discharges) in a school located in the city of Manaus and its role for local security, by measuring the variables of an SPDA system, demonstration of the technical conditions of the SPDA and arguments that point out the relevance of the correct procedure for the realization of this process and importance of spda. For this, bibliographic research and on-site field study of the entire spda installation process was carried out in the buildings, multi-sport court and school water box. According to the studies conducted, it was observed that as measurements of ohmic resistances measured were low, very close to 0 ohms. The stress measures were collected, which were also low. The INSTALLED SPDA went to the Cage of Faraday and Franklin. For the school under study, the implanted SPDA obeyed all the standards that regulate it. The college is an environment frequented by many people of different age groups, the installation of spda implanted and sized ensures the protection of heritage, as well as safety and protection to life, because in case of an atmospheric discharge, there is a system who will receive it and lead it there is a path designed for it. If there were no, the building would be fully exposed to this risk and so would people. Therefore, even if spda does not guarantee absolute protection, the protection range it meets is representative, thus ensuring in a certain way the safety of people and protection of building and people. It was also found that the maintenance of the SPDA should be done annually from the start date of the technical report, to ensure the effectiveness of the system.

Malaysia is a fast developing country which thrives on the growth of its population and economy. Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia with an area of 243 km2 has a population of 1.4 million [1]. From the statistics, the number of passengers using intercity train services in Malaysia in was 187,345,149 in the year 2012 [2]. Comfortability of a service is a major factor that influences the public. The research will be conducted at the City of Kuala Lumpur, PUTRA LRT (Kelana Jaya Line) and MONOREL Line is selected as the main focus of the research. The data collection will be conducted in the train coaches with two parameters. The noise and vibrations in the train coaches will be taken using the Sound Level Meter (NOR118) and Vibration Meter (Movipack 01dB-Steel) respectively. The noise data were obtained from the interior of the train coaches during operation, while the vibrations were obtained from the wall surface of the coach interior. The vibration aspect for this research is more focused on three parameters which are displacement (μm), vibration velocity (mm/s) and vibration frequency (Hz)[7]. Questionnaires were given out to the train passengers in order to obtain public opinions and satisfaction feedbacks relating their experiences on the train coaches. In this paper it also discusses on the outcomes of the field research work conducted and it was found that PUTRA LRT has a lower vibration value when compared to the MONOREL. The public opinion has also showed unanimous agreement to the field observations conducted by the researchers. However, MONOREL records lower noise levels compared to PUTRA LRT which means quieter journey experience to the commuters. It is hoped that this study will enable the operators to enhance their service weaknesses with the public playing a part in improving the urban rail transit in the City of Kuala Lumpur. The Turkish world's opera history gave its first example in 1908 with the opera "Leyli and Majnun" by Azerbaijani composer Üzeyir Hacıbeyli. According to many sources, "Leyli and Majnun" is described as the first opera of the Turkish world and the Islamic world, and the east. The most important feature of this opera is the masterful synthesis of classical western music and folk music. The opera, which was composed for the first time in this way, influenced the east with its staging and ensured that the art of opera was adopted by the public. The great composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli was born in the city of Shusha in Azerbaijan, which was developed in the field of literature and music and called the "natural conservatory." He developed his existing talent here and built it on solid foundations. He was interested in music and literature, wrote many books, articles, and was a writer for newspapers. The subject of the opera Leyli and Majnun is taken from Fuzuli's "Leyli and Majnun" poetry of the same name. At the age of 13, the composer decided to write this opera, influenced by the theater show "At the tomb of Majnun Leyli'' which he watched in Shusha, his home city. He started working on opera in 1907 when he was only 22 years old. By bringing a different perspective to opera, he used the tonal structure of western music with 'mugham,' also known as Azerbaijani folk music. This type of opera is also called "Mugam Opera.'' The opera, which was composed and performed despite the conditions of the period, preserved its originality by combining two cultures and was performed many times in other countries. Operas from the Turkish world are rarely staged in our country, and there is a need for such an article because the opera "Leyli and Majnun" has not been staged much in Turkey and there are very few theses, articles, and books about it. In this study; Different titles have been created such as the history of Azerbaijan opera, the life of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, the composer's process of creating the opera, and the content of the opera Leyli and Majnun. Keywords: Leyli and Majnun, Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Turkish World, Opera

While there are a growing number of ‘counter-hegemonic’ monuments in Australia, the numerous workers’ memorials commemorating heroic male figures ¬– coalminers, truck drivers, timber workers and wharf labourers – retain the exclusionary characteristic of traditional or ‘institutional’ memorialising. Many such memorials nourish a masculinist, albeit working class, vision of Australia’s nation building efforts, while commemoration of the lives of women – beyond ‘the exceptional’ – is rare in the public sphere. This article examines one such rarity: the statue of ‘Joy’ commemorating the lives of women who worked as prostitutes in the ‘red light’ district of East Sydney, an urban environment then in the later stages of gentrification. ‘Joy’ is a memorial resembling the more recent tradition of ‘new genre’ public art; art that ‘seeks to disrupt prevailing conceptions of the city’. When the larger-than-life cement, marble dust and steel statue took up her position on the street in East Sydney, New South Wales, it elicited widespread controversy. It is these different responses that are the subject of this article. They provide a snapshot of late-twentieth century Sydney views on prostitution and history.

Few Fellows of our Society of recent years have had such varied activities as the subject of this memoir, who died on 2 September 1960 after a full and busy life. College and University officer and administrator, astronomer, soldier, Unitarian, prominent in affairs of international science, in psychical research, in the public life of the city of Cambridge and of the county— in all these different ways he served with great distinction. To some he was known as Professor Stratton, to many in the Services and in public life as Colonel Stratton, but to a multitude of friends and acquaintances he was just ‘Chubby’. This name, bestowed upon him in his early days in College to describe his physical appearance—he was short and solidly built, with a round, pleasant face—became to many as much a mark of their affection as a nickname. For he was much loved. I have known no other man who had so many friends and so many acquaintances anxious to become his friend. Among many outstanding traits of character he had a genius for making friends wherever he went, friends of all ages and of all kinds. And, in the midst of his very busy life, he managed somehow or other to keep his friendships in constant repair.
