Several teaching and learning methods, alternative to the traditional method of content transmission and reception, are being proposed and discussed by researchers, aiming to improve the professionals' formation. One of the methods being applied in various educational areas and at different levels of education is the Problem Based Learning (PBL). However, there is still not much evidence about the advantages and disadvantages of applying this method in the formative process of students in postgraduate courses. Consequently, the objective of this work is to evaluate the perception of postgraduate students of a Stricto Sensu course after experiencing the PBL method in their formative disciplines. Through the application of a questionnaire, the perceptions of students who used the PBL method and the traditional teaching method, respectively, were collected in two disciplines of the Interdisciplinary Master's Degree in Sustainability, from a private university in the state of São Paulo - Brazil. The results show the feeling at the beginning and during the learning process using PBL; the perception of the PBL when compared with the traditional teaching method; and the perception of specific skills developed with the PBL. Finally, it can be said that PBL is a teaching method with broad potential in the learning process of a postgraduate course, both for the possibility of building knowledge autonomously, and for the development of specific competences and skills related to postgraduate study and research activities.

Many of the recent studies have focused on the Flipped classroom as an instructional strategy. The massive practice of technology by digital natives offers opportunities to provide educational environments that cover the possibility of learning efficiently. Numerous studies have currently conducted concentrated on the flipped classroom (flipped instruction) and its effects on learning. However, teachers and learners are not familiar with the flipped classroom. Therefore, teachers and learners still have restrictions to change the traditional method of teaching to the flipped instruction. Teachers’ rejection, worry and unwilling to implement the flipped classroom could be illustrated through the following aspects: first, teachers’ lack of knowledge about the flipped classroom and the implementation of the flipped classroom. Second, teachers’ lack of information about the empirical studies of the effect of flipped learning on the learning process. Therefore, the current study aims to define and illustrate the features, implementation, advantages, and disadvantages of the flipped classroom to familiarize teachers and students with the flipped classroom method. Besides, the second aim of the study is to demonstrate and compare some empirical studies of the effect of the flipped classroom on learning environment so as to display the influence of the flipped classroom on the learning process and remove teachers’ doubt about the outcome of implementing flipped classroom in the classes. Based on the explanation of the previous studies, it could be concluded that the flipped classroom is an effective and positive teaching and learning method which is appropriate to the current educational system, and the teachers need to be aware of the effect and implementation of the flipped classroom in order to change the traditional method of teaching to the flipped learning model, and have efficient knowledge about implementing the flipped teaching method effectively.

Under the current circumstances of foreign academic degree students in University of Science and Technology Liaoning (the foreign academic degree students come from different countries and have different foundations, different languages and different learning habits), based on the PBL theory, this work has proposed the teaching-method reformation of foreign degree students, which is combining the group study and assignment-oriented study together to reinforce students' learning process, and to improve the teaching effect. There are five steps in teaching-method reformation: questions prepared by instructors, references researching, group communication and study, in- class discussion and teacher's evaluation and summary. It is conducive to the rational allocation of the proportion of “teaching” and “learning”, promoting students' active learning. The methodology would help improve the quality of the teachers and evoke self-esteem and self-confidence of the students, stimulate their enterprising spirit.
