This article constitutes the editio princeps of the Coptic manuscripts from the private collection of Alexandr Palnikov (1857–1917), presently housed at the University History Museum of Perm State University. All these manuscripts are written on papyrus and can be dated to the second half of the first millennium C. E. The twenty-five fragments with Coptic text come from ten different manuscripts. Of those, two seem to be literary; the rest, documentary. The transcription of the Coptic text is accompanied by a Russian translation and a papyrological commentary.

The Ural State Law University solemnly celebrated its centenary. It updated the appeal to the past of the university, to the traditions of Russian legal education and science. The anniversary became simultaneously an event, an object of study, and a strategy for learning the legal-university history. The aim of the article is to defie promising, largely interrelated historical and legal subjects of the history of the law university. Multifaceted signifiance of the anniversary for the law university is considered: its role in the development of academic culture and corporate commemorative practices, in promoting the image of the university, in gaining new knowledge on the university, in studying the pre-institute period of its history (1918–1931). The problem of the sources of knowledge on the history of the USLU is defied. The particular importance of legitimizing the transition periods is described. For example, the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of 1919 explicitly recognized the university in Irkutsk and the faculty of law as the basis of our university. The author raised the question of the need to interpret sources that are not typical for the law university history’ such as oral history, museum subjects. The article noted the importance of politics and ideology in the history of law university, as well as the prospects of its consideration through the prism of the anthropological approach.

ABSTRACT The Collectio Mineralium (1765) currently preserved at the Historical Archive of the Natural History Museum of the University of Firenze, is the unpublished catalog of the mineralogical collection that belonged to Emperor Leopold II (1747–1792). The catalog is a 110-page register, with the golden emblem of the House of Habsburg at the center of the binding, containing information about 242 mineralogical samples. Each specimen is carefully described (i.e., habit, metal content, product value) and its locality given. The interpretation of the text has also returned information on most of the mining deposits in the Austro-Hungarian territories in the eighteenth century. Therefore, the interpretation of this catalog—that on the basis of the literature appears to be the first catalog of a collection belonged to a Habsburg emperor—represents an important step toward enhancing our understanding of Habsburg natural history collections and reflected the transition from wonder-rooms to commodity collecting. Leopold's private collection was no longer an ‘instrument of wonder’ but it became representative of scientific collecting characterized by the establishment of systematic mineralogy, and by a careful economic evaluation of the mineralogical samples collected as a symbol of the power of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Apterous and alate viviparous females and the alate males of Macrosiphum eastopi Barjadze & Blackman sp. n. living on Oberna multifida Ikonn. (=Silene multifida Rohrb.) (Caryophyllaceae) are described from the Republic of Georgia (Caucasus). Type specimens are deposited at the Institute of Zoology, Ilia State University (IZISU), Tbilisi, Georgia; the Natural History Museum (BMNH), London, U.K.; and the University of Catania (UCI), Sicily, Italy. Apterous and alate viviparous females of its close relative M. hartigi Hille Ris Lambers, 1947, living on Silene vulgaris (Moench) Garcke and Stellaria holostea L. (Caryophyllaceae) are redescribed, based on co-types and other material from Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland. The hitherto unknown fundatrix, oviparous females and alate males of M. hartigi are described from Italy and Switzerland. Macrosiphum eastopi sp. n. is differentiated from the morphologically similar M. hartigi and compared with other Macrosiphum species living on Caryophyllaceae. A key is provided to apterous viviparous females of all aphid species recorded on Oberna multifida.

This paper describes the copy of the Statuta Collegii doctorum Artium et Medicinae issued for the University of Pavia in 1409, recently rediscovered at the Pavia University History Museum. The most ancient part of the manuscript, which dates to 16th century, witnesses the complete text of the 15th century Statuta, whereas the copy previously known, which dates to 18th century, lacks of ten chapters. The manuscript also contains subsequent amendments and most of the names of the members of the Collegium from 1409 to 1762. Particular attention is paid, in this presentation, to the institutional framework implied by the Statuta; with that aim, its formula of approval (dated February 1409) and the chapter which lists the books on which doctoral examinations in Pavia were based are transcribed.

The paper analyzes the role of the city forming construction of the Kuibyshev hydroelectric power station (KGS) on the Volga and opening in a small town of Stavropol a branch of Kuibyshev Industrial Institute (KII) affiliated to Kuibyshevgidrostroy (since 2001 – Togliatti State University). The research is focused on historical and pedagogical analysis of the processes which influenced the university formation and development, its facility development in the first years of the university history. The paper considers the aspects of the planned construction of the university buildings in the Central District in the new town of Stavropol, and the projects that were not implemented, or built and functioned for a short time. The analysis is focused on the initial stages of the improvement of university premises and territory. Based on the analysis of archival data and museum expositions an imaginary route of an excursion over the territory of the university of that period was recreated. For the first time, two-stage plan for the reconstruction of the compact accommodation for students of the KII branch is published. The first stage of the study covers the period from 1951 to 1953, during which the infrastructure of the university was created for its temporary operation until the city of Stavropol was totally flooded. The results of the second stage of the study (the period of the construction of the hydroelectric power station from 1954 (after the flooding of the historical territory of the city of Stavropol) till 1958) made it possible to reconstruct the university infrastructure in the new territory of the city. The original buildings were almost completely lost – buildings for a different use were erected in their place. Therefore, recognition of the earliest existing territories that are part of the university infrastructure is of particular value. It has been established that an important role in the creation of the university facilities was played by the government, city authorities and the management of the construction site of the Kuibyshev hydroelectric power station. The formation of the first higher school in Stavropol, which later grew into Togliatti State University, contributed to the rapid development of the entire urban infrastructure. It was revealed that for the period of the KGS construction the university facilities and resources provided the opportunity for high-quality training of engineering personnel that met international standards.

The article presents possible reflexive positions in the interaction between the teacher and the student and shows the dynamics of this interaction, i.e. gives a hierarchy of positions which the student can occupy in the educational process depending on how independent they are in their activity. The article also highlights the content of scientific and research work of students of the University in English classes on the basis of work with foreign texts in the macro-discourse for the “Oriental studies” speciality. The given foundations of the organization and content of scientific and research work of students have been regularly used in English language classes, as well as in optional forms of scientific activity. The students have shown good results and passion for this kind of work, which confirms the correctness of this approach.
