Providing the brewing industry with locally produced raw materials is important both from an economic point of view and in terms of import substitution. Breeders create brewing barley varieties with a reduced protein content, however, in production they often use universal varieties that combine high yields with an average protein content of 11–12%. For such varieties, it is necessary to develop technological methods for obtaining a crop with specified properties, depending on the purposes of using the products. The quality indicators of barley grain and the efficiency of its production are significantly influenced by mineral fertilizers and the minimization of soil cultivation. In this regard, the authors studied the effect of minimal tillage on the yield and grain quality of spring barley of the Vladimir variety at two levels of mineral nutrition (without fertilizers 26 and with full supply oif mineral fertilizer – N35P40K135) in a two-factor field experiment carried out in 2018–2019 on the medium-loamy light gray forest soil. The experiment helped determine the yield and structure of the crop, the content of protein, starch, and grain hoodness (hull content). It was found that the lack of precipitation during the barley tillering – heading period leads to a decrease in grain yield by 40.0–54.8% as compared with the conditions of increased moisturizing. At the same time, there was an increase in the grain protein content by 1.4–1.7% and the grain filminess by 0.5–0.9%. The use of moderate rates of complete mineral fertilizer (N35P40K85) led to an increase in the barley yield by an average of 13.2% and the grain protein content by an average of 0.2%. On the other hand, it led to a decrease in the grain filminess by 0.2% and starch content by 0.4–0.6%. The positive effect of nitrogen fertilizers on the increase in protein content in barley grain was higher under minimal tillage. Under minimal tillage, regardless of the level of moisture supply and mineral nutrition, there was a tendency towards a decrease in the barley yield by an average of 3.9%, mainly due to a decrease in the density of the productive stalk. There was also a tendency towards a decrease in the protein content in the barley grain – by 0.3% – when no complete mineral fertilizer was used.

The article analyzes the current state and improvement of elements of the technology of growing valuable forage and food crops, spring barley in Ukraine. It is noted that in recent years the area under large crops and the yield of this crop have decreased significantly. It is emphasized that further improvement of technologies should be focused on the transition to more use of biological agents to increase yields. Researchers have shown that the effectiveness of the use of humid preparations GK-6M, GK-4MK, GK-MK - on crops of spring barley Dokuchaivsky 15, due to foliar feeding of plants in the tiller ring phase. The main justification of the article is the results of field research conducted in 2015–2019. Maximum indicators, namely: increase in leaf area by 46–38 %, stem height by 8,3 cm; the number of grains in the ear – 4,8 pieces; ear lengths – 1,9 cm; mass of grain in the ear – 0,33 g; masses of 1000 grains – at 12,0 %; nature of grain – 34,9 g – was obtained by treating plants with humid preparation GK-6M. Foliar feeding of plants in the tiller ring phase with the studied drugs provided the largest increase in the yield of spring barley grain – 1,08 t/ha, provided the use of growth stimulant GK-6M. A slightly smaller effect of foliar fertilization of plants on the yield of spring barley was observed from the growth stimulator GK-4MK – the increase in grain yield was 0,83 t/ha and from the growth stimulant GK-MK – the increase in grain yield – 0,66 t/ha. The obtained increments are significant, mathematically proven. Further improvement of agrotechnologies due to wider use of biological means of increase of productivity and quality of production is offered. Keywords: spring barley, plant growth stimulants, foliar feeding, yield.

The effect of GA3 on ribonuclease activity in the embryos and endosperm of barley seeds was investigated during dormancy and after its end. Incubation of dormancy grain with GA3 stimulated its germination, increased the dry weight of the embryos and their protein content. Ribonuclease activity in seeds treated with GA3 was considerably enhanced. The increase was more rapid and intensive in the embryos than in the endosperm. The action of GA3 was most effective, particularly as regards the endosperm, on grain which had already passed through the stage of dormancy and had reached physiological maturity. This is evidence that the internal factor regulating the process of dormancy exerts a stronger influence on the activity of ribonuclease than does exogenic giberrellic acid.

Abstract The purpose of the research is to study the effect of the fungicide Lamador and the humic preparation Rostok on the quality of spring wheat and spring barley in the conditions of the northern forest-steppe of the Tyumen region. According to the yield, we found that pre-sowing seeds treatment with Lamador protectant and joint treatment with Rostock contributed to an increase in yield by 0.70 t/ha of spring wheat and 0.15 t/ha of spring barley, in the option with the pre-sowing seeds treatment with Lamador protectant and Rostock preparation by 0.90 t/ha and 0.10 t/ha. The highest yield of spring wheat was noted in the third option – 4.10 t/ha, of spring barley in the second option – 3.52 t/ha. An increase in the thousand kernel weight was noted in the crops under study. The highest thousand kernel weight was observed for spring wheat and spring barley in the third option – 30.2 g and 54.3 g, respectively. The maximum protein content in the spring wheat grain was noted in the third option –13.3%, which is higher than the control option by 1.3%, for spring barley we also noted protein increase by 0.4-0.5%. Thus, the experimental application of the fungicide Lamador together with the preparation Rostok for wheat seeds treatment demonstrated a positive effect of the protectants on plants in the agro-climatic conditions of the forest-steppe zone of the Tyumen region and contributed to an increase in crop yield by 28% for spring wheat and 4% for spring barley, which proved the need for their use in the plant protection system, to increase the productivity and quality of the grain obtained.

In the Siberian District, including the Tyumen region, a great contribution into production of foodgrain has been made by valuable and strong varieties of spring soft wheat Iren, Omskaya 36, Novosibirskaya 31. It should be noted that elements of cultivation technology of these varieties for seeds have been developed insufficiently. In the article, the 2016-2018 data have been analyzed according to the productivity and quality of seeds of the chosen wheat varieties in dependence to the level of mineral nutrition (for planned productivity of 4.5 and 6 t/ha). It has been established that in the conditions of the northern forest-steppe of the Tyumen region the level of mineral nutrition for productivity of 4-5 t/ha provided high quality of seeds. In the variant with NPK of 4 t/ha the yield of seeds of the general productivity was 73.0-77.8%, the mass of 1000 grains – 33.9-38.5, the protein content – 15.3-16.8%, the energy of germination – 58.0-67.3%, the laboratory viability – 94.3-96.5%. The main part of seeds (67-74%) sprouted in 5-6 seminal roots and when resowing in 2017-2018 it gave dense, strong shoots. Seeds from the chosen variant had advantage before the control without fertilizers and before variants with higher level of mineral nutrition in many quality indicators.  It has been established that germination energy of seeds closely correlated with protein content (r = 0.72…0.82) and insignificantly – with the mass of 1000 grains (r = 0.27…0.28). Between productivity and energy of germination of seeds the correlation was negative(r = -0,32…-0,40)

In order to maximize the potential of productivity of spring barley varieties, it is important to optimize the conditions for plant growth and development, which are, first of all, provided by the latest intensive agricultural technologies, which provide for the correct placement of crops in crop rotation after the respective precursors; optimal supply of plants with nutrients, taking into account their content in the soil; fractional application of nitrogen fertilizers during the growing season by phases of growth and stages of organogenesis; the use of retardants, integrated protection of plants against weeds, pests, diseases, timely and quality implementation of all agrotechnical measures. Research to study the effectiveness of different terms of spring barley sowing and doses of nitrogen fertilizers were conducted during 2018 - 2019 in the conditions of the research field of VSAU v. Agronomichne of Vinnytsia region on gray ashed soils. Weather conditions during the years of the research differed from the average long-term data with high temperature conditions and low rainfall, and accordingly the most favorable year for the growth and development of spring barley was 2018. It is shown the 2-years investigation results on study the effect of sowing dates and nitrogen fertilizations on productivity elements and quality indexes of spring barley grain under conditions of Right-Bank Forest-Steppe on gray forest soils. Accordingly, the highest levels of harvest of barley cultivars at different sowing dates were obtained under conditions of 2018. t should also be noted that the delay of sowing by 6 days in the years of research leads to a decrease in the yield level on average for all varieties by 0,42 – 0,64 t / ha, and a delay of 14 days leads to a decrease by 1,37 – 1,80 t / ha. The use of nitrogen fertilizers leads to an increase in the yield level of both cultivated varieties, and the highest crop yields of the Svarog variety were obtained in the experiment where the background + N60 was applied in the foliar fertilization (4,87 t / ha), and the lowest respectively in the control variant 3,16 t /ha, in the Armax variety a similar situation is observed, however, with lower indicators respectively 4,54 and 3,06 t / ha. The lowest values of protein content in the grain were obtained in the control variant where only N17 P17 K17 was applied to rows when sowing, and the use of nitrogen fertilization leads to an increase in this indicator and the highest values obtained in the variant of experiment 4, where Background (N17 P17 K17) + N60 in the foliar fertilization on the feeding phase of the tube exit. The article presents the results of spring barley crops and the effect of foliar fertilization on them. Prospects and effectiveness of biological products as a basic fertilizer for cereals. Spring barley is a valuable food, fodder and technical crop. Pearl barley and barley groats are made from vitreous and coarse-grained two-row barley grain. Most barley is used for feed purposes. In 1 kg. grain contains 1.2 feed units and 100 g of digestible protein. Spring barley contains a lot of protein (9-12%), carbohydrates (70-75%), pentazoles (7-11%), sucrose (1.7-2%), fiber (3.8-5.5%), fat (1.6-2%), ash (2-3%). Spring barley grain is characterized by high nutritional value and is widely used in feed production, confectionery, brewing. However, in the dynamics of its yield there are significant fluctuations, which is associated with both agro-climatic conditions and organizational and economic. Having a short growing season, underdeveloped root system, the culture is quite demanding on the provision of basic factors of plant life, including nutrients. The system of fertilization of spring barley is determined primarily by predecessors. It has a valuable ability to make the best use of the aftereffects of organic and mineral fertilizers applied to the previous crop. If spring barley is sown after well-fertilized row crops (sugar beet, potatoes), under which 40-50 t / ha of manure and mineral fertilizers are applied within N80P80K80 - N120P120K120, then fertilizers are not applied directly under barley at all. Against this background, barley with proper care can form 40-50 kg / ha of grain. It is clear that in case of incomplete supply of sugar beets or potatoes with fertilizers, barley will require additional application of macronutrients. Barley responds very well to fertilizer application, especially in conditions of sufficient moisture. The increase in yield from mineral fertilizers can reach 15-20 kg / ha. To prevent lodging of plants, it is necessary to ensure the correct ratio of nutrients - nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Given the condition of the soil cover and low volumes of fertilizer application, we consider the issues of optimization of mineral nutrition of spring barley to be relevant and in need of refinement. An important component of the plant nutrition system is the use of microfertilizers. Therefore, the purpose of our research is to establish the reaction of spring barley to the complex use of microfertilizers, crop formation and grain quality in the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine [3] Key words: spring barley, foliar feeding, biological products.
