When considering the personality and work of Gracjan Achrem-Achremowicz, a citizen of Vilnius, one must keep in mind the richness of his interests and talents: he was a painter, a printmaker, a bibliophile, a collector of antique prints, a publisher, an educator, a poet and a translator, and he knew several languages, including Hebrew and English. His passions and activities, though versatile, were most strongly associated with artistic (workshop) prinmaking, the graphic design of books, and with the printed word. In my paper, I aim to define the achievements of this artist as those of one of the few students of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Vil- nius who was committed to graphics at a time when teaching this discipline was not a priority (before 1930), and at the same time as an artist who had the  opportunity of studying abroad.

The article employs Walter Ballmer's experience as a Swiss graphic designer working in Milan in the second half of the twentieth century as a case study to think about national design discourses outside national borders, show their constructed nature, and explore their impact on individual lives and careers. Drawing on primary sources collected in the archive and through interviews, it maps out the socio-cultural network that gave meaning to Swiss graphic design and questions how this was perceived, understood, and performed in a specific time and place by Ballmer, his assistants, the broader graphic design community, and his clients.

Information visualization is more inclined to two-dimension design in traditional design field. As known to us all, it is unable to be applied in three-dimension. However, with the rapid development of design science, a growing number of people who are engaged in design have found that the application of information visualization can’t be only restricted to graphic design as graphic design is gradually crossing with space design.

The primary objective of this study was to find out how practising graphic designers maintain creativity in a digital environment. The study also investigated three factors that may positively influence their creativity. First, whether practising creative experimentation outside commercial constraints positively impacts a designer's ability to produce creative design. Second, how drawing assists original design. Third, whether enriching sensory stimulation helps graphic designers maintain creativity. An action research method was used. The project reviewed current literature and gathered empirical data through qualitative interviews and a workshop. In addition, a practical component was developed that consisted of drawings made from observation, drawings as concept experiments and examples of a commercial design and illustration. Results proved that creativity is a multifaceted phenomenon, and it plays a pivotal role in contemporary graphic design. The three factors, practising creative experimentation, drawing, and sensory enrichment, proved to be beneficial to the creative abilities of graphic designers. The study concluded by acknowledging the challenges of the digital era within the field, and the importance for practising graphic designers to maintain creativity.

This article addresses the Tropicalist movement, the iconic Brazilian countercultural phenomenon from the late 1960s. The discussion focuses on its main visual manifestation: graphic design. We aim to demonstrate that the work of graphic designer Rogério Duarte is one of the structural pillars of this anti-establishment movement. Tropicália is often associated with music, while other contributions such as graphic design are less known or taken as a later visual response. We propose and present an analysis of the role of Duarte at the creation of the movement and its development during the late 1960s and early 1970s. His critical vision and knowledge of the Brazilian cultural mosaic led to the construction of one of widest countercultural movements of the 20th century, with a range of manifestations that included not only graphic design and music, but also theatre, cinema, and the visual arts. Tropicália was indeed more political than the American and British psychedelic manifestations, in which it was visually inspired. It was also more than a cultural movement or an anti-academic manifestation: it was a means to criticize and work around the Brazilian government and its oppression.
