This study aims to determine the effect of local arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on weed density, growth and yield of sweet corn in marginal soils. This study used a randomized block design with local AMF propagules which consisted of 4 levels: 0 g/planting hole or control (A0), 15 g/planting hole (A1), 30 g/planting hole (A2) and 45 g/planting hole (A3). The research parameters observed were: weed density, plant height, stem diameter, crop yield, and the percentage of AMF infection in the roots of corn plants. The results showed that the highest weed dominance value at the age of 14 DAP was Cyperus rotundus as 36.8% in treatment of AMF 45 g/planting hole (A3), age 56 DAP the highest weed dominance value was Hyptis capitata as 47.1% in the treatment of AMF 30 g/planting hole. The best plant height and stem diameter were found in the treatment of AMF 45 g/planting holes (A3) at 56 DAP, the average plant height reached 234.05 cm and the average stem diameter reached 3.72 cm. Increased production of corn plants that were given local AMF ranged from 2.70 to 3.10 tons ha-1 or an average increase in overall corn crop production of 2.86 tons ha-1. The average percentage of mycorrhiza fungi infections in the highest roots of corn plants in the treatment of AMF 45 g/planting hole (A3) as 94%.   Key words: Arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi; vesicles; hypha; maize; ultisols

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis mikoriza, varietas dan interaksi jenis mikoriza dan varietas terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman cabai pada tanah Incepticol. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Iesuum Krueng Raya Aceh Besar, Rumah Kaca dan Laboratorium Fisiologi Tumbuhan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala Darussalam Banda Aceh dari bulan Mei sampai September 2018. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial 3 x 2 dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah jenis mikoriza dan varietas. Jenis mikoriza yang digunakan adalah Glomus mosseae, Gigaspora sp dan Campuran serta varietas yang digunakan adalah varietas Lado F1 dan Perintis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan jenis mikoriza berpengaruh nyata pada tinggi tanaman 30 dan 45 HSTdan jumlah cabang produktif. Jenis mikoriza terbaik terdapat pada jenis mikoriza campuran (Glomus mosseae dan Gigaspora sp). Pada varietas berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman 15,30 dan 45 HST, diameter batang 30 dan 40 HST dan jumlah cabang produktif serta berpengaruh nyata pada diameter batang 45 HST. Jenis varietas terbaik terdapat pada varietas Lado. Interaksi antara jenis mikoriza dan jenis varietas berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman 30 HST dan jumlah cabang produktif serta berpengaruh nyata pada diameter batang 30 HST.Interaksi antara jenis mikoriza dan varietas terbaik tedapat pada jenis mikoriza campuran (Glomus mosseae dan Gigaspora sp) dengan varietas Lado F1.The Effect of Mycorrhizal Types on the Growth of Some Chili Varieties in Incepticol Soil Krueng Raya Aceh BesarAbstract. This research was carried out at the Krueng Raya Iesuum Experimental Garden in Aceh Besar, greenhouse and laboratory of plant physiology, Faculty of Agriculture of Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam, Banda Aceh from Mei to September 2018. The analysis of data used in this study was Randomized Block Design -Factorial 3x2 with 3 replications. The factors observed in this research were the type of mycorrhiza and varieties. Types of mycorrhiza used are Glomus mosseae, Gigaspora, and the combination. Varieties used are Lado F1 and Perintis. The result of this research showed that types of mycorrhiza take effect significantly on plant height 30 dan 45 DAP and productive branch numbers. The mixed of mycorrhiza gives the best result on growth and yield of chili plant. The varieties of chili plants highly significant take effect on plant height 15, 30 and 45 DAP, stem diameter 30 and 40 HST and productive branch numbers and significantly affect on stem diameter 45 DAP. Lado F1 gives the best result on growth and yield. The interactions of mycorrhiza and varieties type highly significant take effect on plant height 30 HST and productive branch number and significantly take effect on stem diameter 30 HST. The combination of mixed mycorrhiza and Lado F1 treatment gives the best result on growth and yield of chili plants.

Abstrak. Ultisol merupakan salah satu tanah marginal yang memerlukan pengelolaan yang tepat untuk meningkatkan kesuburannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemberian Fungi Mikoriza Arbuskula (FMA) dan kompos limbah kakao terhadap kolonisasi FMA, dan pertumbuhan bibit kakao pada Ultisol. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial dengan dua faktor perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah jenis FMA yaitu tanpa FMA (F0), Glomus sp (F1), dan Glomus sp. + Gigaspora sp. (F2). Faktor kedua adalah dosis kompos yaitu 0 ton.ha-1 (K0), 20 ton.ha-1 (K1), dan 30 ton.ha-1(K2). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa FMA berpengaruh nyata terhadap kolonisasi mikoriza, namun tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman  pada 30, 60, 90 HST, diameter batang pada 30, 60, 90 HST, dan luas daun pada 90 HST.  Pemberian kompos limbah kakao berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman pada 90 HST, namun tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman pada 30 dan 60 HST, diameter batang pada 30, 60 90 HST, dan luas daun pada 90 HST.  Kombinasi FMA dan kompos limbah kakao berpengaruh nyata terhadap diameter batang pada 30 HST namun tidak berpengaruh  nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman pada 30, 60, 90 HST, diameter batang pada 60 dan 90 HST, dan luas daun pada 90 HST. Perlakuan FMA jenis Glomus sp. + Gigaspora sp. dan kompos 20 g.pot-1 memberikan pengaruh terbaik terhadap kolonisasi mikoriza dan pertumbuhan tanaman. The effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and compost of cocoa waste on myccorrhiza colonization, and the cocoa seedling growth on UltisolAbstract. Ultisol is one of marginal soils which requires proper management to increase its fertility. This study aims to determine the administration of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (FMA) and cocoa waste compost to FMA colonization, and the growth of cacao seedlings on Ultisols. This research used factorial randomized block design (RBD) with two treatment factors and three replications. The first factor is the type of FMA that is without FMA (F0), Glomus sp (F1), and Glomus sp. + Gigaspora sp. (F2). The second factor is the compost dose which is 0 tons.ha-1 (K0), 20 tons.ha-1 (K1), and 30 tons.ha-1 (K2). The results showed that FMA significantly affected mycorrhizal colonization, but did not significantly affect plant height at 30, 60, 90 HST, stem diameter at 30, 60, 90 HST, and leaf area at 90 HST. Cocoa waste compost has a significant effect on plant height at 90 HST, but no significant effect on plant height at 30 and 60 HST, stem diameter at 30, 60 90 HST, and leaf area at 90 HST. The combination of AMF and compost of cocoa waste significantly affected the stem diameter at 30 HST but did not significantly affect the plant height at 30, 60, 90 HST, stem diameter at 60 and 90 HST, and leaf area at 90 HST. Treatment of FMA type Glomus sp. + Gigaspora sp. and compost 20 g.pot-1 provides the best effect on mycorrhizal colonization and plant growth.

Water stress in sweet corn plants due effect of climatic events, such as El Niño, is difficult to monitor, leading to considerable losses. Silicon (Si) as an exogenous resistance elicitor may reduce water stress effects. The relationship between sweet corn plant age and its development, under induced water stress and leaf potassium silicate applications were evaluated. This work was carried out with the hybrid Tropical Plus®, in a randomized factorial block design with 15, 30, 45 and 60 kPa as soil water tensions in plots and potassium silicate doses (0, 6, 12 and 24 L ha-1) in subplots. Stem diameter, plant height and leaf number per plant were evaluated at 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 days after seeding. Root length was measured on the 90th day after seeding. Sweet corn plants submitted to water stress conditions and Si application showed an age-dependent response. Water stress did not decrease stem diameter, plant height and number of leaves per plant sprayed with Si. Root length was longer with 60 kPa soil water tension. Silicon reduced negative impacts of water stress on sweet corn plants.

Potatoes (Solanum tuberesum, L) are one of the main foods for the needs of the world community. Therefore, increasing potato crop production is considered important. For this purpose, the utilization of a mixture of rice husk biochar with compost can provide the best results up to three times the planting season. Coffee skin can also be found in form of compost for the utilization process. However, due to the lack of farmer’s knowledge about the benefits that can be provided by skin compost to maintain the level of soil fertility. This study aims to analys the effect of biochar and coffee skin compost on the growth and yield of potato crops. Plant height, number of shoots, number of tubers per clump, and per plot tuber weight was a parameter of observation. This experiment used a factorial randomized planting block design using several doses of biochar and coffee skin compost.  The treatment of biochar dosage did not significantly affect all parameters observed. The treatment of the effect of doses of coffee skin compost had a very significant effect on plant height at all ages of observation. The average plant height increases with the higher doses of red coffee skin compost given has a very significant effect on the number of tubers per clump and the weight of per plot tubers. There was no real interaction between the biochar dose and the red coffee skin compost dosage against all observed parameters.

Introduction: This research was conducted to determine the effect of several types of local microorganism solutions and manures on the growth and yield of peanut and their impact on the physical properties of ultisols. Materials and Methods: The researches was conducted in Simalingkar B, Medan using Factorial Randomized Block Design within three replications. The first factor was types of microbe sources of local microbial solutions, include un-treated waste (M0), pineapple (M1), orange (M2), and tamarillo (M3) wastes. The second factor was manure types, inluce un-treated manure (P0), chicken (P1), cow (P2), and goat (P3) manures. The parameters were: soil physical characteristics (bulk density, water content and total of pore space), plant height, stem diameter, number of pods, and dry seeds yield. Results: The types of local microorganism solutions only affect to plant height of peanut, but has insignificant effect on the physical properties of ultisols, and stem diameter, the number of filled pods.plant-1, and the dry seeds yield.ha-1 of peanut. The types of manure had significantly effected on plant height and number of filled pods.plant-1, but had insignificant effect on stem diameter, dry seeds yield.ha-1 and the physical properties of ultisols. The interaction of MOL sources and manure did not significantly affect the growth and yield of peanut as well as the physical properties of ultisols. Orange MOL and chicken manure could be increase the plant height of peanut by 18.61% and 6.75%, respectively, compared to un-treated. Goat manure showed the highest number of pods.plant-1 by 6.32% compared to un-treated.

Abstrak. Cabai merah merupakan komoditas hortikultural yang termasuk golongan sayuran rempah yang termasuk famili terung-terungan dan sebagai penyedap masakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh pemberian jenis pupuk organik terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman cabai merah dan untuk melihat pengaruh varietas terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman cabai merah serta untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya interaksi antara jenis pupuk organik dan varietas cabai merah. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Januari sampai dengan bulan Juni 2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial. Faktor yang diteliti terdiri dari dua faktor yaitu pupuk organik dan varietas. Faktor pertama jenis pupuk organik yang terdiri dari  3 taraf yaitu kontrol, pupuk kandang sapi dan pupuk kandang ayam, sedangkan faktor kedua varietas cabai merah yang terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu Varietas TM-999, varietas Odeng dan varietas Lede Uwe gayo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pupuk organik berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap jumlah buah per tanaman dan berat buah per tanaman serta terdapat pengaruh yang nyata  terhadap jumlah cabang produktif dan potensi hasil ton/ha, namun terdapat pengaruh tidak nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman umur 15, 30 dan 45 hari setelah tanam dan diameter batang umur 15, 30 dan 45 hari setelah tanam. Pemberian pupuk organik pada berat buah per tanaman dan potensi hasil terbaik diperoleh pada pemberian pupuk kandang ayam. Sedangkan perlakuan varietas berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap jumlah cabang produktif, berat buah per tanaman dan potensi hasil, namun terdapat pengaruh yang tidak nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman umur 15, 30 dan 45 hari setelah tanam, diameter batang umur 15, 30 dan 45 hari setelah tanam dan jumlah buah per tanaman. Jumlah cabang produktif, berat buah per tanaman dan potensi hasil tanaman cabai merah terbaik diperoleh pada penggunaan varietas TM 999. Terdapat interaksi yang sangat nyata antara pupuk organik dengan varietas terhadap jumlah buah per tanaman, berat buah per tanaman dan terdapat interaksi nyata terhadap potensi hasil. Kata kunci : Cabai Merah, Pupuk Organik, VarietasAbstrac. Red chili is a horticultural commodity that belongs to the spice vegetable group and part of the eggplant family that is used as a food flavoring. This study aims to look at the effect of applying organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of red chili plants;to see the effect of varieties on the growth and yield of red chili plants; and to find out whether there is an interaction between types of organic fertilizer and red chili varieties. This study employed factorial randomized block design (RBD) with two factors studied namely organic fertilizer and varieties. The first factor is the type of organic fertilizer consisting of 3 levels, namely control, cow manure and chicken manure, while the second factor is red chili varieties consisting of 3 levels, namely the TM-999 variety, Odeng variety and the Gayo Lede Uwe variety. The results showed that the treatment of organic fertilizer had a very significant effect on the number of productive branches and the potential yield of tons/ha, but there was no significant effect on plant height at ages 15, 30 and 45 days after planting and stem diameter 15, 30 and 45 days after planting. The fertilizer application at the fruit weight per plant and the best potential results obtained in the provision of chicken manure. Whereas, the treatment of varieties has a very significant effect on the number of productive branches, fruit weight per plant and yield potential, but there is no significant effect on plant height 15, 30 and 45 days after planting, stem diameter 15, 30 and 45 days after planting and number of fruits per plant. The number of productive branches, fruit weight per plant and the best yield potential of red chili plants were obtained from the use of TM 999 varieties. There was a very real interaction between organic fertilizer and varieties on the number of fruits per plant; fruit weight per plant; and there was a real interaction with yield potential.Keywords:Red Chili, Organic Fertilizer, Varieties

Fertilizers and fertilization technology have important roles in increasing crop production including lowland rice. In response to the issue, a field experiment was conducted to study the effects of micronutrients on growth and yield of lowland rice. The experiment was carried out at Cihideung Ilir Village, Dermaga Sub-district, Bogor Regency from November 2015 until March 2016. The experiment consisted of 8 treatments, namely control (without fertilization), NPK-standard, NPK-standard  + ¼ dosage of Hortigro Rice fertilizer, and ¾ NPK  + ¼  until 11/4 dosages of Hortigro Rice fertilizer as a source of macronutrients N, P, K and micronutrients of Mn, Cu, Zn, B, and Mo. The treatments were arranged in a Randomized Block Design with 3 replications. Parameters observed during the research were plant height, tiller number, and yield of grain and straw of INPARI-32 lowland rice as crop indicator. The  results  showed that among other treatments, the highest plant height was resulted from the application of ¾ NPK-standard + ¼ Hortigro Rice, i.e. around 124 cm at 60 days after planting. The highest harvesting dry weight of grain and straw were observed in NPK-standard + 1/4 of Hortigro Rice fertilizer treatment, i.e. around 9.0 Mg ha-1 and 25.9 Mg ha-1, respectively. This yield showed a significant difference with ¾ NPK-standard combined with ¾  -11/4 dosages of Hortigro Rice. The highest  dry weight of  milled grains was  resulted in the application of  ¾ NPK-standard + 1/2 Hortigro Rice, i.e. around 7.3 Mg ha-1, which is significantly different from that in ¾ NPK-standard combined with 1.0 - 11/4 dosages of Hortigro Rice treatments, while the highest dry weight of straw was provided by NPK-standard, i.e. around 14.0 Mg ha-1. The highest  dry weight of 1000 milled grains and ratio of  dry weight of milled grain to straw were provided by ¾ NPK-standard + 1/2 Hortigro Rice around 32.0 gram and  0.63, respectively. The results indicated that the application of micronutrient fertilizer of Hortigro Rice in combination with NPK fertilizers can potentially increase lowland rice productivity due to the micronutrients content of Mn, Cu, Zn, B, and Mo in it.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of thermally dried sewage sludge on soil fertility, growth and yield of sunflower. The experiment was conducted in a Nitosol area of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, in Montes Claros-MG, Brazil. The treatments consisted of four doses of sewage sludge (0, 10, 20 or 30 t ha-1, dry weight basis), with six replicates in a randomized block design. The levels of nutrients in soil and plant, soil fertility indices, stem diameter, plant height, head diameter and grain yield were evaluated. Stem diameter, plant height, head diameter and grain yield increased with increasing doses of sewage sludge. The application of the residue increased linearly the contents of soil organic matter and N in sunflower leaves. On the other hand, pH, the exchangeable bases, total and effective cation exchange capacity, base saturation, H+Al, Al, soil contents of P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Zn, Cu, Mn, Fe and B, and the leaf contents of P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Zn, Cu, Mn, Fe and B were not influenced by the application of sewage sludge doses of up to 30 t ha-1.

Soil fertility decline as a result of the use of inorganic fertilizers. Tithonia diversifolia is an green manure and EM4 is a mixture of beneficial microorganisms.  Application of Tithonia and EM4 on sweet corn is an effort to replace the use of inorganic fertilizers. This study aims to obtain the interaction in application of Tithonia and EM4, to compare at different doses of green manure Tithonia, and  to compare on the application of multiple doses of different EM4.  Completely Randomized Block Design is used which consist of two factors. The first factor is the dose of  Tithonia consisting of: 0 tons ha-1, 10 tons ha-1, 20 tons ha-1 and 30 ton ha-1.  The second factor is the dose EM4 comprising: 0 ml L-1, 10 ml L-1 and 20 ml L-1 of water. The results showed that Tithonia diversifolia and EM4 have no effect on the growth and yield of sweet corn. Tithonia diversifolia of 30 tons ha-1 provide the highest plant height and the highest number of leaves and and the largest stem diameter and the highest level of leaf greenish. There is a tendency on the ascending EM4 dosage, will increase the average plant height, leaf number, stem diameter and leaf greenish level. Keywords:Tithonia, EM4, sweet corn.

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dosis ampas tahu dan konsentrasi pupuk agrobost serta interaksi antara terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman jagung manis. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan dan Laboratorium Fisiologi Tumbuhan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh pada bulan Januari sampai April 2018. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok pola faktorial 4 x 3 dengan 3 kali ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah dosis ampas tahu dan faktor kedua adalah konsentrasi pupuk Agrobost. Peubah yang diamati yaitu tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, panjang tongkol berkelobot, panjang tongkol tanpa kelobot, berat tongkol berkelobot, berat tongkol tanpa kelobot dan potensi hasil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dosis ampas tahu berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman 45 HST, diameter batang umur 30 HST dan 45 HST, panjang tongkol berkelobot, tanpa kelobot, berat tongkol berkelobot dan tanpa kelobot, potensi hasil berkelobot dan tanpa kelobot, berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman 15 HST dan 30 HST serta diameter batang 15 HST. Perlakuan konsentrasi pupuk Agrobost berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap diameter batang 30 dan 45 HST, panjang tongkol berkelobot, panjang tongkol tanpa kelobot, berat tongkol berkelobot, berat tongkol tanpa kelobot, potensi hasil berkelobot dan potensi hasil tanpa kelobot. Namun tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi 15 dan 45 HST serta diameter 15 HST. Tidak terdapat interaksi yang  nyata antara dosis ampas tahu dan konsentrasi pupuk Agrobost terhadap semua peubah  pengamatan.  Perlakuan dosis ampas tahu 10, 20 dan 30 ton/ha  memberikan pertumbuhan dan hasil jagung  manis yang sama baiknya, namun dari segi ekonomis 10 ton/ha lebih efektif untuk digunakan. Perlakuan pupuk agrobost yang lebih baik di jumpai pada konsentrasi 15 ml/l air yang memberikan pertumbuhan dan hasil jagung manis dibandingkan dengan kontrol dan 30 ml/l air.Kata kunci : Ampas Tahu, Agrobost, Jagung ManisEfect of Dosage Tofu Dregs and Agrobost Fetilezer to Growth and Yield of Sweet Corn Crops Zea mays saccharat Sturt.Abstrack. This research was conducted to know wheter the effect of dosage tofu dregs and agrobost fertilizer consentration and interaction between both of it to growth and yield of sweet corn crops. This research did at. Experimental Farm and Plant Phaysiology Laboratory of Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh, on January to April 2018. The design was used  Randomized Block Design (RBD) 4 x 3 factorial pattern with 3 times repeated. The first factor was dosage of tofu dregs (D) and the second factor was agrobost consentration (T). The observed variables were plant height, stem diameter, length of cob weighted, length of cob without weighted, weight of cob weighted, weight of cob weight without weight and yield potential. The results showed that dosage of tofu dregs very significant effect on plant height of 45 DAP, stem diameter of 30 DAP and 45 DAP, length of cob weighted, length of cob without weighted, weight of cob weighted and weight of cob without weighted, yield potency of cob weighted and yield potency of cob without weighted. The significant effect on  plant height of 15 DAP and 30 DAP and stem diameter of 15 DAP. Agrobost fertilizer concentration was very significant effect on stem diameter of 30 and 45 DAP, length of cob weighted, length of cob without weighted, weight of cob weighted, weight of cob without weighted, yield potency of cob weighted and yield potency without weighted. However, no significant effect on the plant height of  15 and 45 DAP and the diameter of 15 DAP. There were no interaction between dregs of tofu and Agrobost fertilizer concentration on all observation parameters. The treatment of  dregs tofu 10, 20 and 30 tons/ha the same growth and yield of sweet corn, but terms of economical 10 tons/ha is more effective to use. The treatment of agrobost fertilizer  was found better at concentration of 15 ml/l water which gave growth and sweet corn yield compared to the control and 30 ml/l water.Keyword: Dregs of Tofu, agrobost, Sweet Corn
