The intensifi cation of modern industrial poultry farming as the most progressive and dynamically developing branch of agriculture aimed at raising productivity and increasing production volumes, inevitably leads to numerous problems related to poultry health. One of the most common ways to solve this problem is to use antibacterial drugs. The results of scientifi c and economic experiment on the use of the phytobiotic additive “Farmatan VSO (Butitan)” in feeding broiler chickens of cross Cobb-500 have been provided in the article. The inclusion in the poultry diet of the phytobiotic “Farmatan VSO (Butitan)” in the amount for compound feed Start 800 g/t, Growth and Finish – 400 g/t leads to increase in the live weight of broilers by 3,0 % compared to the control group. At the same time the average daily gain of live weight in the 4th experimental group was 73 g, which was by 2,8 % more than in the control group. The use of phytobiotic additives in the feeding of broiler chickens contributes to the highest livability of poultry (98,1 %). It has been found that the best indicators for feed expenditures have been noted in the 3rd and 4th experimental groups 1,47 and 1,48 kg, which were 3,3 and 2,6 % lower than in the control group. Thus, the authors have found that the highest live weight, average daily gain, livability and lowest expenditures of feed per unit of production diff ered in broiler chickens of 4th experimental group where in the compound feed antibiotic Flavomycin has been replaced on phytobiotic feed additive “Farmatan VSO (Butican)” in the compound feed Start 800 g/t, Growth and Finish- 400 g/t. Production testing of the use of “Farmatan VSO (Butitan)” has shown the high eff ectiveness of phytobiotics as a mean of replacing the feed antibiotic and improving the livestock indicators of broiler chickens rearing.

In the present study, a possible nature immunostimulant and growth promoter—humic substances (HS) originating from Siberian leonardite mineraloid—were tested on juvenile Clarias gariepinus performance. Feed additive was applied onto commercial pelleted feed at four HS levels—0, 1, 3, and 6% w/w (HS0, HS1, HS3, HS6, respectively). Diets were tested in five repetitions (in total, n = 1800 individuals, mean body weight 28.1 ± 6.2 g) for 56 days. Growth and production parameters, fish condition and somatic indices, and overall mortality were evaluated after 14, 28, 42, and 56 days of exposure. Whereas, plasma samples were collected only after 0, 28, and 56 days, when fish health status was assessed with biochemical parameters (total proteins, TP; alanine aminotransferase, ALT; aspartate aminotransferase, AST; lactate dehydrogenase, LDH; cholesterol, CHOL; triglycerides, TAG) and fish antioxidant status with glutathione (reduced glutathione, GSH; oxidized glutathione, GSSG; glutathione ratio GSH/GSSG). Although a significantly positive effect of HS feed additive on growth performance was not found in the present study, moderately positive effects were found regarding biochemical parameters (ALT, AST, LDH, CHOL, and TAG) and antioxidants (GSH/GSSG ratio) that were improved especially in the HS3 group.

The reproductive traits of sows are of paramount importance in the production of high-quality pork. The world experience of pig farming shows the need to solve first of all the feed problem. Diets unbalanced in the content of vitamins restrain the manifestation of genetically inherent high prolificacy of sows. The purpose of the research was to study the influence of feeding the vitamin feed additive “LipoCar” on the reproductive traits of sows and the biochemical parameters of blood serum. The results of research on the introduction of vitamin feed additive “LipoCar” into the diet of pregnant sows have been presented in the article. The experiment has been carried out in the production conditions in JSC “Linevsky pedigree farm” on sows of Large White breed. Pregnant sows have received a basic diet, balanced for all the normalized elements of nutrition. Sows of the experimental group in the composition of the basic diet fed the feed additive “LipoCar”. The dosage of the drug “Lipocar” was 2,1 g/head/day. “Lipocar” has been fed for 20 days. The total duration of the experiment was 3 months. When introducing the vitamin feed additive “LipoCar” into the main diet of sows in the second half of pregnancy the increase in the number of piglets in the litter by 1,6-6,8 % and the weight of the litter – by 5,6-56,2 % (P ≤ 0,001) have been revealed in comparison with the control group of animals. There was a higher content of carotene in the blood serum of sows of the experimental group by 50,0 % (P ≤ 0,01), vitamin A - by 48,7 % (P ≤ 0,05), and total protein – by 4,9 % (P ≤ 0,05).

One of the most important factors for increasing efficiency is the organization of complete ration feeding is to provide farm animals with all the necessary micro- and macroelements. In this regard, rations should be developed on the basis of detailed norms, taking into account the actual chemical composition and nutritional value of the feed used. The purpose of the research was to study the influence of the feed additive Biovitel on the morphological and biochemical parameters of the blood of steers of Hereford breed under intensive fattening technology. On the base of laboratory blood tests it was possible to trace the effect of the feed protein additive Biovitel on the morphological and biochemical parameters of the blood of experimental animals. The correlation of hematological parameters and productivity of animals when using the feed protein additive Biovitel has been evaluated. It has been found that the use of the protein feed additive Biovitel for steers during the fattening period is an effective means to reduce production losses and has a positive effect on the morphological and biochemical parameters of animal blood. The obtained data indicate that the blood parameters were higher in the animals of the experimental group throughout the entire period of research, which contributes to the increase in the physiological status of the animal organism. The revealed correlation coefficients of the live weight of steers with the biochemical parameters of the blood of animals have shown the presence of closer correlation coefficients in the experimental group of steers have been received the feed additive Biovitel.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the dietary effect of feeding pigs with diets enriched with sweet chestnut wood (<em>Castanea sativa</em> Mill.) or oregano (<em>Origanum vulgaris</em> L.) extract on the microbiological and chemical characteristics of cooked pork ham. Three groups of 10 pigs were fed with a control diet (CTRL), with the CTRL diet enriched with 0.2% of oregano extract (OR) and with the CTRL diet enriched with 0.2% of sweet chestnut wood extract (SCW), respectively. Six cooked hams per group were produced, sliced and packaged under a modified atmosphere (N2:CO2=80:20) and stored at refrigeration temperature (4±1°C). Three packages per cooked ham were sampled for analyses at three different storage times (0, 10 and 20 days). At day 0 time, antioxidant capacity of the products (ORACFL assay) and chemical composition were performed. At each sampling time, from all the samples the following analyses were performed: Total Microbial Count (TMC), Lactic Acid Bacteria count (LAB), <em>Enterobacteriaceae</em> count, <em>Listeria monocytogenes</em>, pH value, colour coordinates (L*, a*, b*), total basic volatile nitrogen (TBVN) and thio-barbituric reactive substances (TBARs) determinations. No differences in TMC, LAB and <em>Enterobacteriaceae</em> count, pH, TBVN, chemical composition and L* values were registered between the three groups at all the sampling times considered. No <em>Listeria monocytogenes</em> was detected in the samples tested. Significant differences were registered for ORACFL at 0 days, a* and b* values and TBARs value at 10 and 20 days of storage, with higher values for ORACFL, a* and b* values and lower values for TBARs in SCW and OR than CTRL. No antimicrobial effect could be recorded for OR and SCW but a higher oxidative stability, also highlighted by the colour maintenance, was observed in both OR and SCW.

The aim of the work was to study the organo-mineral feed additive in «Selecel» on the reproductive function of polar foxes, growth-weight and morpho-biochemical parameters of puppies. The feed additive was added taking into account the dry weight of the diet. It was found that the females receiving «Selecel» brought more offspring, the young from them were larger and more viable. The blood counts were within the normal range for this type of animals.
