Owing to the heterogeneity and inherent uncertainty of services, the selection of service suppliers is a complicated multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM) problem in which fuzzy criteria and stochastic criteria coexist. During the past few decades, many real-world supplier selection problems have been resolved using MAGDM methods. Nevertheless, extant research on supplier selection considers either fuzzy criteria or stochastic criteria, and hence most of these methods cannot address the complex and unstructured nature of contemporary service supplier selection problems. In this study, a novel technique for order preference by similarity to the ideal solution (TOPSIS) approach, integrating both fuzzy criteria and stochastic criteria, is developed; in this approach, the interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy (IVIF) cross-entropy for fuzzy criteria and the Euclidean distance for stochastic criteria are used to acquire the rankings of alternatives. Moreover, a sensitivity analysis is conducted for a case study of hoisting service supplier selection, and a comparative analysis with other existing methods is performed to confirm the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach.

Supplier selection is one of the most important activities in supply chain management. However, the method of selecting appropriate supplier is not straightforward as it involves number of potential suppliers with diverse criteria. This paper aims to select the best supplier using interval type-2 fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (IT2FTOPSIS) method. The method is used to a case study of computer components supplier selection. Of the four candidate suppliers, it is found that the supplier S3 is the best candidate. It indicates that the IT2FTOPSIS method offers a feasible solution to supplier selection problem.

This article analyzes the ideology and practice of multi-unit competition that pervades neoliberal subjectivities and produces the “ideal” flexible worker within contemporary global capitalism. It demonstrates how state and capitalist interests converge to influence the selection of the ideal transnational migrant worker, how prospective migrants adapt to these expectations, and the consequences of such enactments, particularly for migrants, but also for the societies in which they live and work. Multiple levels of actors—employers, state bureaucrats, and migrants themselves—collude in producing the flexible, subaltern citizen, which includes constructions and relations of class, race, gender, and nationality/citizenship. The case study focuses on Mexican and Jamaican participants in Canada's Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program, a managed migration program that legally employs circular migrant farmworkers from Mexico and several English-speaking Caribbean countries in Canadian agriculture.

The selection of hospital sites is one of the most important choice a decision maker has to take so as to resist the pandemic. The decision may considerably affect the outbreak transmission in terms of efficiency , budget, etc. The main targeted objective of this study is to find the ideal location where to set up a hospital in the willaya of Oran Alg. For this reason, we have used a geographic information system coupled to the multi-criteria analysis method AHP in order to evaluate diverse criteria of physiological positioning , environmental and economical. Another objective of this study is to evaluate the advanced techniques of the automatic learning . the method of the random forest (RF) for the patterning of the hospital site selection in the willaya of Oran. The result of our study may be useful to decision makers to know the suitability of the sites as it provides a high level of confidence and consequently accelerate the power to control the COVID19 pandemic.

Supplier selection is an important component of supply chain management in today?s global competitive environment. Hence, the evaluation and selection of suppliers have received considerable attention in the literature. Many attributes of suppliers, other than cost, are considered in the evaluation and selection process. Therefore, the process of evaluation and selection of suppliers is a multi-criteria decision making process. The methodology adopted to solve the supplier selection problem is intuitionistic fuzzy TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to the Ideal Solution). Generally, TOPSIS is based on the concept of minimum distance from the positive ideal solution and maximum distance from the negative ideal solution. We examine the deficiencies of using only one metric function in TOPSIS and propose the use of spherical metric function in addition to the commonly used metric functions. For empirical supplier selection problems, more than one metric function should be used.

Abstract The recent revolution in the use of renewable energy worldwide has opened many dimensions of research and development for sustainable energy. In this context, the use of wind energy has received notable attention. One critical decision in the development of a wind farm is the selection of the most appropriate turbine compatible with the characteristics of the geographical location under consideration in order to harness maximum energy. This selection process considers multiple decision criteria which are often in conflict with each other, as improving one criterion negatively affects one or more other criteria. Therefore, it is desired to find a tradeoff solution where all selection criteria are simultaneously optimized to the best possible level. This paper proposes a TOPSIS (The Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) based approach for multi-criteria selection of wind turbine. Three decision criteria, namely, hub height, wind speed, and net capacity factor are used in the decision process. A case study is shown on real data collected from the Aljouf region located at an altitude of 753 meters above sea level in the northern part of Saudi Arabia. Seventeen turbines with rated capacities ranging from 1.5 GW to 3 GW from various manufacturers are evaluated. Results indicate that Vestas V110 turned out to be the most appropriate turbine for the underlying site.

In this article, methodologies have been proposed for site selection of sub-station considering technical and non-technical constraints. Firstly, a systematic frame has been developed considering various factors that influence the optimal location of the sub-station. Various factors considered are evaluated using DEMATEL-QFD. An evaluation has been done between the outcome of the TOPSIS (Technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution) method and the COPRAS (Compressed Proportional Assessment) method. Finally, Spearman rank co-relation co-efficients indicates the strength of association of both the methodologies. A case study is done using GIS to prove the justification of the methodologies to the applied area. The application of the methodologies will help the decision maker improve the plan, location and grid renovation of the distribution sub-stations.

The theory of interval valued fuzzy sets is very valuable for modeling impressions of decision makers. In addition, it gives ability to quantify the ambiguous nature of subjective judgments in an easy way. In this paper, by extending the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), it is proposed a useful method based on generalized interval valued trapezoidal fuzzy numbers (GITrFNs) for solving multiple criteria decision analysis (MCDA) problems. In view of complexity in handling sophisticated data of GITrFNs, this paper employs the concept of signed distances to establish a simple and effective MCDA method based on the main structure of TOPSIS. An algorithm based on TOPSIS method is established to determine the priority order of given alternatives by using properties of signed distances. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed method is illustrated by a practical example of supplier selection.
