Abstract This article examines a series of disputes within the Faculty of Law at the University of Paris as a point of entry into the political culture and cultural politics of the late ancien régime. What began with a disagreement over ceremonial red robes among the faculty’s members escalated into a legal conflict pitting corporatist and egalitarian visions of social organization and collective decision-making against one another. The institutional and material specificity of the disputes, the evolution of the faculty members’ arguments across three cases within a fourteen-year period, and the ambiguous and ambivalent outcome of those cases highlight the incremental processes of culture change in pre-revolutionary France and the ancien régime origins of the legal and civic egalitarianism that would transform France in and after 1789.

The article presents the circumstances of the resumption of activities of Polish universities in Warsaw and Vilnius in 1915 and 1919. It describes the political situation that accompanied both events. In the case of the University of Warsaw, it was the realities of World War I and the desire of the emperors of Germany and Austria-Hungary to win over Poles against the Russians. In the case of Vilnius University, it was the renewal of Polish scientific and cultural life and confirmation of the annexation of the Vilnius Region to the Republic of Poland, which was at the time still at war with Soviet Russia.The author presents the first structures of the revived universities and the profiles of their rectors: prof. Józef Brudziński in Warsaw and prof. Michał Siedlecki in Vilnius. The focus is also placed on recreating the celebrations themselves, which have already been described by contemporaries as historical. The course of these events and their artistic setting have been reconstructed on the basis of historical accounts (newspapers, photographs). Much of the discussed material has been included as illustrations and recalled for the first time in one hundred years.

Professor Claude Cohen-Tannoudji is a French physicist and Nobel Laureate recognized for his research on laser cooling and trapping of atoms. Born in Algeria, he completed his high school education in Algiers before going to Paris to attend the École Normale Supérieure. He became a professor at the University of Paris and then at the Collège de France in 1973 and is currently still active in research.

John Robertson Henderson was born in Scotland and educated at the University of Edinburgh, where he qualified as a doctor. His interest in marine natural history was fostered at the Scottish Marine Station for Scientific Research at Granton (near Edinburgh) where his focus on anomuran crustaceans emerged, to the extent that he was eventually invited to compile the anomuran volume of the Challenger expedition reports. He left Scotland for India in autumn 1885 to take up the Chair of Zoology at Madras Christian College, shortly after its establishment. He continued working on crustacean taxonomy, producing substantial contributions to the field; returning to Scotland in retirement in 1919. The apparent absence of communication with Alfred William Alcock, a surgeon-naturalist with overlapping interests in India, is highlighted but not resolved.

"A Short Modern History of Studying Sacrobosco’s De sphaera. The treatise generally known as De sphaera offered at the beginning of the 13th century a general image of the structure of the cosmos. In this paper I’m first trying to present a triple stake with which this treaty of Johannes de Sacrobosco (c. 1195 - c. 1256). This effort is intended to draw a context upon the treaty on which I will present in the second part of this paper namely, a short modern history of studying this treaty starting from the beginning of the 20th century up to this day. The first stake consists in the well-known episode of translation of the XI-XII centuries in the Latin milieu of the Greek and Arabic treaties. The treatise De sphaera taking over, assimilating and comparing some of the new translations of the texts dedicated to astronomy. The second Consists in the fact that Sacrobosco`s work can be considered a response to a need of renewal of the curriculum dedicated to astronomy at the University of Paris. And the third consists in the novelty and the need to use the De sphaera treatise in the Parisian University’s curriculum of the 13th century. Research is considered a function aimed at obtaining new knowledge and its application for the solution to problems or questions of a scientific nature, The universities framed in the fulfillment of their social function have a complex task given by training a competent professional who assumes research as part of their training and who learns to ask questions that they are able to solve through scientific research.  Scientific research is an indicator of the quality of processes in the university environment, so it must be increased by virtue of the results of the work carried out by research teachers and students the objective of this work is to know the perception of the teachers of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Guayaquil about the scientific activity. Objective: to know the perception of the teachers of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Guayaquil about the scientific activity. Methods: theoretical and empirical level were used, a questionnaire with closed questions aimed at knowing the opinions on the research activity in this institution was applied. Result: that of the sample analyzed 309 (39.3%) said they agreed with the training for the writing of scientific articles. 38.6% said they agree with the training on research projects. Conclusion: that teacher’s research should be enhanced to ensure the formation and development of research skills in students.
