The aim of this article was to investigate how police investigation leaders learn leadership and whether the facilitation of learning activities and learning methods might bridge the well-known gap between teaching and learning leadership. Using action research, we constructed an ‘i-leader’ learning pool consisting of police investigation leaders. The pool provided interactive and collaborative learning activities that included reflection, knowledge sharing and social support. Participants were receptive to this learning initiative, but also argued that ‘learning by doing’ is most important because it allows for communication and cooperation between colleagues in the context of their everyday leadership practice. They acknowledged the need for reflection and argued that the pool provides important reflection time, which they lack in their everyday practice. Participants also found the learning methods, particularly the ‘group support methodology’ and the new network useful for their own leadership development. However, using these new learning methods ‘back home’ was more challenging. Participants did not have time to prioritize and develop this new network. Providing learning methods and building a network takes time and must be relevant to everyday leadership practice. The significance of their leadership practice and how to accumulate experience as the basis for reflection was acknowledged, but still needs to be applied within leadership practice. Bridging the gap between teaching and learning is not just about providing learning and reflection methods, but also about learning how to apply new knowledge through experience, where reflection ensures that learning in practice is not ‘due to change’.

Based on research into the long term impact of participation in drama-based workshops focusing on goal setting, this workshop hoped to investigate how we can make the performative more ‘sticky’. How can performative approaches be combined with other modes of learning, methods of teaching to allow students and teachers new pathways to learning? Taking inspiration from the symposium question – ‘Wherein exactly lies the benefit of applying performative approaches?’ – this workshop asked participants to play with, and reflect on, different approaches to performativity in the classroom/seminar/lecture setting, with the aim of allowing participants to create ‘sticky impact’ – impact from participation that stays with the learner. The workshop was a practice based session with a focus on performative exercises and activities that have been/could be used in a teaching and learning context. The session began with an initial introduction via slides outlining the workshops themes, theoretical contexts, and the practice based nature of the workshop. Following this the workshop section began with participants engaging in a series of performative drama activities that allowed participants to suggest/influence/lead how the activity developed. Computer programming courses are among the important components of the curriculum to be studied, not only in the school of Computing and Informatics, but also in most of the field including Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering Science departments. In this research, a study was conducted to investigate and explore the views of students for the failure and difficulties they faced in learning fundamental programming courses. There are many factors that influence the high rate of failure of students in computer programming courses. This paper focuses on the teaching and learning methodologies and strategies that are implemented in teaching of programming courses. This is a major factor for consideration; hence an investigation into the causes of failure of students in computer programming courses from the learner perspective with regard to the teaching methodology used by teachers to teach these courses is relevant and very important concept. Computer programming courses form part of the core concentration areas for students especially studying in school of computing and informatics as an undergraduate degree program. Computer programming students are expected to prove capabilities in the principles of programming and logic that are being taught in the course; even though some of these concepts are highly intellectual and multifaceted. Their opinions to the usefulness of the teaching methods being implemented in computer programming courses were required for. The needs and concerns about the teaching and learning methods are highlighted in the survey and discussed thereby leading to the making of suggestions about the ways to improve the teaching and learning methods that are used in computer programming courses in order to advance understanding of computer programming, when studied by students thereby minimizing failure rates of those students.

The purpose  of this activity is for increasing  students interest  in learning  at MI Nasrul  Ulum Klagensrampat. This activity uses a learning  method in conveying material  to students.By applying this method the writer hopes that the learning process can be achieved properly. Therefore, it is very important for educators  to recognize several kinds of learning  methods so that students feel happy and comfortable when learning takes place. The writing of this work were supported by the researcher’s activity after doing identification  and communication with the teacher,  so that the researchers and the teacher  were able to find out the obstacles faced by the students in teaching and learning  activity which has been done. In this activity, the researcher applied various methods of effective and innovative teaching which were able to increase students learning interest. The learning methods are puzzle method, flashcard method, silent way method, make a match method, snowball method, bamboo method, and monopoly method

In an education, learning is supported by various methods, media, and learning models to improve the quality of learning. In this article, the author only focuses on one example of the method used to assist the teaching and learning process. The method is a way whose function is as a tool to achieve a goal. The better the method, the more effective the attainment of the goal. This writing aims to describe the inquiry method regarding the strengths and weaknesses in the process of learning folk poetry and the reconstruction of the inquiry method in the process of learning folk poetry. This writing is a non-research scientific article, where only the author's ideas are expressed. Compiled from several theories such as learning folk poetry, learning methods, learning methods in the 2013 curriculum, and related to inquiry learning methods. The results of this paper are found the weaknesses and strengths of the inquiry method in learning poetry and the weaknesses are reconstructed to make it better or more effective.

Vocabulary teaching and learning principles assist in providing effective teaching and learning methods, in accordance with the learners’ proficiency level. However, studies that looked into the relevancy of those principles are rather limited. Thus, this study focuses on finding the common practices of vocabulary teaching and learning principles in the classroom. Interviews involving three experts were done to determine their vocabulary teaching and learning principles application in their teaching. Based on the data analysed using Atlas t.i, out of ten Vocabulary Teaching and Learning Principles, only eight were practiced by the participants. The findings revealed that these experts, even though practice the principles, the approaches were varied. Finally, the data points to the need for future studies on the importance of having good vocabulary instructions in teaching and learning vocabulary.

Learning media in general is a tool for teaching and learning. Everything that can be used to stimulate the thoughts, feelings, attention and abilities or skills of students so as to encourage the learning process. This limitation is quite broad and includes the understanding of resources, environment, people and methods used for learning / training purposes. Barriers to the use of teaching aids in supporting student interest in learning, obstacles include: conditioning students' attention to learning with teaching aids, teacher learning methods that tend to be less varied so that students are less enthusiastic in learning if the teacher is monotonous, the teaching aids available in schools are incomplete, making teaching aids in accordance with the material and student input is difficult, the minimum time to prepare learning with teaching aids.
