Striped catfish Pangasianodon hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878) has a high economic value and relatively fast growth, so that optimum stocking density and supplement of natural ingredients, such as Curcuma domestica Val., Kaempferia galanga Linn., and Curcuma xanthorriza Robx. can increase growth and immunity. This study aimed to obtain the optimum stocking density and herbal supplement dosage in feed to increase the growth and survival rates of striped catfish. An experimental method by applying factorial design was used, i.e. the dose and stocking density factors. The dosage of herbal supplements used were 100 mL kg-1 feed (D1), 200 mL kg-1 (D2) and 300 mL kg-1 (D3). Stocking density used was 50 m-3 (P1) and 75 m-3 (P2). The fish used were 8.5±0.5 cm long and weighed 7.5±0.3 g, kept in floating cages of 1 m x 1.5 m x 1 m. Fish maintenance was carried out for 60 days with feeding frequency of three times a day, as much as 10% of body weight. The results showed that the treatment of 200 mL kg-1 dosage and 75 m-3 stocking densities was the best treatment. This treatment showed that specific growth rate, absolute weight, absolute length and feed efficiency were 4.86%, 119.07 g, 15.45 cm, 82.93%, respectively. A supplement dose of 200 mL kg-1 in feed and stocking densities of 75 m-3 could increase growth rates, survival, and feed utilization efficiency of striped catfish.

ABSTRACT: Anomalocardia brasiliana post-larvae were cultured for 28 days to evaluate the effect of stocking density on their growth and survival rate. Three stocking densities were tested 40, 80 and 160 post-larvae cm-2, in experimental units (2-L) with static cultivation system and total water renewal at each 48 hours. The experimental design was completely randomized with three treatments and three repetitions each. Stocking density of 40 post-larvae cm-2 reached 1 mm length within 24 days, while only 18% of the post-larvae at density of 80 post-larvae cm-2 reached 1 mm length in the same time. The density of 40 post-larvae cm-2 had the highest specific growth rate, 4.98±0.08% day-1. The survival rates of post-larvae at lower densities were significantly higher (53.24±4.60% and 52.95±3.32%, on 40 and 80 post-larvae cm-2, respectively) compared to higher stocking density (31.54±0.70%). In the cultivation of A. brasiliana post-larvae, stocking density must be managed during growth. The density of 160 post-larvae cm-2 can only be used until the post-larvae reach 600μm in length, then they should be at 40 post-larvae cm-2 density to keep the maximum daily growth rate.

Sand goby (Oxyeleotris marmorata) is one of freshwater fish that has high economic value and is more desired for its thick meat, bone less, and tasteful. Salinity is one of the most important environmental factors in fish culture. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal salinity concentration on growth and survival of sand goby fish. A completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used in this study with four treatments of salinity levels comprising A) Control; B) 1 ppt; C) 3 ppt; D) 5 ppt. Each treatment was consisted of three replicates. The result showed significant differences (P<0.05) in specific growth rate, absolute length, absolute weight, and blood glucose among the treatments against control after 56 days cultured. Seed reared under the salinity of 3 ppt was better than other treatments in terms of specific growth rate (0.94±0.09%), absolute length (2.53±0.35 mm), absolute weight (37.3±6.28 mg), and blood glucose (0.06±0.01 g/dl). Based on the present result, it was suggested that 3 ppt of salinity is better for optimize the growth and survival of sand goby.

Baung (Hemibagrus nemurus) is one of the endogeneous freshwater fish that has economic value. Baung still rarely cultivated and only relies on catches, so its need to be cultivated. Live feed must be given the appropriate amount because the fish will grow not optimally if the feed is a few or too much. Moina sp. is one of the live feeds that can be given to baung larvae. The nutritions content of Moina sp. were 37.38% protein, 13.29% fat, 0.00% crude fiber, 11.00% ash, and 99.60% moisture content. Size of Moina sp. that suitable for larvae ranges is 500 – 1,000 μm.The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of live feed Moina sp. with different doses in feeding regime on growth and survival of larvae baung and to determine the best dose of Moina sp. on growth and survival larvae baung. The research was carried out at the Technical Implementation Unit of the Fish Larvae Center (UPT BBI) Sawangan, Magelang District in March – May 2018. The individuals of D3 larvae with a length of 0.6 ± 0.1 cm were used in the culture. The research was conducted using experimental method with completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replicates. Those treatments  were treatment A (5ind / ml), B (10 ind / ml), C (15 ind / ml), and D (20 ind / ml).The results showed that the different dose of live feed Moina sp. significantly affected (P <0.01) on TKP, Pm, SGR, EPP, PER and RGR but not significantly affected  (P>0.05) on SR. in. treatment D showed the best value of absolute length, SGR and SR in D3D15 stage were 0.9 ± 0.10, 7.04 ± 0.5, 90 ± 3.3,respectivel. In other addition of  D15-D28 had absolute length, SGR, FCR, Feed utilization efficiency, PER, RGR and SR were 0.8 ± 0.10, SGR 3.55 ± 0.17 , 1.31 ± 0.1, 76.76 ± 6.2,1.53 ± 0.1, 5.24 ± 0.5, 85.22 ± 3.5.
