The aims of this research were to find out the correlation between students’ mastery of lexical collocation and their reading comprehension. This research applied correlational study which used quantitative design. The subjects were 66 of the Fifth-Semester Students of English Education Study Program at University of Bengkulu in Academic Year 2018/2019. The data were collected from two instruments: (1) lexical collocation test was used to get data about students’ mastery of lexical collocation and (2) reading comprehension test was used to get data about students’ reading comprehension achievement. The result of the two instruments counted by using Pearson’s Product Moment formula and checked it by using SPSS 22 Program. The conclusion were (1) The result score of lexical collocation test showed that 53% of the students got score over 70, it means that half of the total subject of the students have a good knowledge of collocation especially in lexical collocation. (2) There was high significant correlation between students’ mastery of lexical collocation and their reading comprehension. The result of calculation using Pearson Product moment formula and SPSS 22 Program can be seen in table 4.1 which showed the score of arithmetic r > the score of r table (0,825 > 0,315). It means that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected.

The objectives of this study were (1) to describe the students’ Reading habit, multiple intelligences, and writing mastery, (2) to find out whether or not there was significant correlation among the students’ Reading habit, multiple intelligences, and writing mastery, and (3) to find out whether or not the students’ Reading habit and multiple intelligences contributed to their writing mastery. In this study, 76 undergraduate EFL students of English Education Study Program of Sriwijaya University in the academic year 2017/2018 were chosen as a samples by means of purposive sampling. This study applied correlational research design. The data were collected by using questionnaires and test, and were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment correlation coefficient and regression analysis. The results showed that (1) most of the students (50%)  were in the average level of reading habit; most of the students (15.7%) had six dominant intelligences; most of the students (57.8%) were in the good level of writing mastery; (2) reading attitude was the only habit which had a negative and significant correlation to the students’ writing mastery (r= -271, p< 0.018); reading attitude also had positive and negative and significant correlation to the students’ ideas  (r= 0.367, p< 0.001) and thesis voice audience (r= -0.236, p=< 0.040); logical intelligence was the only intelligence which had negative and significant correlation to the students’ writing mastery (r= -0.238, p= 0.038); ideas was the only the aspect of writing had a positive  and significant correlation to the students’ logical intelligence (r= 0.267, p= 0.020) and intrapersonal intelligence (r= 0.250, p= 0.029); (3) reading attitude became the best predictor and influenced the students’ writing mastery with 7.3% contribution (R2 = 0.073).

Experimental with factorial design was used in this research by using 40 samples of the third semester students of English Education Study Program of UNRIKA classified into high and middle instrumental motivation. The validity used content validity while reliability of the data measured by Cronbach Alpha using SPSS 24. The data were collected through Onomatopoeia test and Gardner’s instrumental motivation questionnaire. It was found from the analysis that both of the data were normal, homogenous and all hyphoteses had a significant effect. Keywords: Onomatopoeia in Comic Strips, Instrumental Motivation, Reading

The aims of the study were to look at the link between English as a foreign language (EFL) student teachers’ reading speed and reading comprehension achievement and whether it influenced their reading comprehension achievement or not. The population of the study was 583 active EFL student teachers in one English Education Study Program at an Indonesian state Islamic University. By using purposive sampling technique, there were 87 students involved as participants in this study. The data were gained by using two kinds of tests, reading speed test and reading comprehension test. Descriptive statistics, Pearson Product Moment Correlation was employed to analyze the data. From the data analyses, it was found that the correlation between EFL student teachers’ English reading speed attitude and their reading comprehension achievement did not exist. As the result, the second problem was eliminated. In short, reading speed did not have any relation to reading comprehension achievement.

Reading is a very important activity to get abundant information and add new knowledge. As students, reading activities have a very dominant role because they are required to be more scientific and rational in giving opinions or providing information both in oral and written. Besides, students' attitudes towards reading also have an important role. This study focused on their English reading comprehension and attitudes towards reading in English. This study aims to determine whether there is a significant relationship between students' attitudes with the result of reading comprehension. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires and reading comprehension tests for students of STKIP PGRI Jombang in the English Education Study Program. The Pearson Coefficient Product Moment is used to determine whether there is a significant relationship between students' attitudes with the result of reading comprehension. From the results found from the SPSS 16 application with a sample of 63 students in the 2019 class, there is a correlation of 0.478. These result indicates that students' reading attitudes are positively related to their reading comprehension. Thus, students must continue to read to improve their English reading skill.
