This study aims at identifying the extent to which IAS 34 (Interim financial reporting) is applied in the Jordanian public shareholding companies, along with highlighting the impact of its application on individual investors at these companies. Study population consists of all Jordanian public shareholding industrial companies (45 companies) listed at Amman Stock Exchange. Due to the large number of the study population, preparers of financial statements (employees of companies), and individual investors, we have selected a simple random sample. The total number of preparers of financial statements (employees), and individual investors were (500) individuals who were selected for the sample. The results showed that all companies are committed to issue and publish interim financial reports within the period specified for that purpose. There is a statistically significant relationship between the variables relevant to the company including (the firm's nature, profitability, and age) and the compliance with issuing the reports and the information content of the financial statements. Moreover there are statistically significant differences in the extent to which IAS 34 is applied in the Jordanian public shareholding companies. These differences arise due to the personal and occupational characteristics of the preparers of financial statements (gender, age, qualification, position, and experience).

The need for international financial reporting standards (IFRS) emerged due to the increasing degree of interdependence between global capital markets and the need for investors to obtain reliable and honest financial information in expressing economic events, in order to find a common financial language, and this is what IFRS provide. Nevertheless, the research aimed to measure the impact of the adoption of IFRS on the quality of earnings in the Iraqi banks listed in the Iraqi Stock Exchange for a sample of 30 banks. The Beneish model was used to measure the quality of earnings, while Mann-Whitney was used to measure and prove the hypothesis of the research. However, the research reached a set of conclusions, including that although the IFRS should contribute to improving the quality of financial reporting, the adoption of these standards in commercial banks listed in the Iraq Stock Exchange did not contribute to achieving quality in earnings even after adopting those standards. Furthermore, a Beneish model is an important tool for auditors, financial analysts, investors, and creditors who have the ability to understand the financial statements or those who have a reasonable understanding of the nature of those financial statements in measuring the quality of earnings, because it is a simple and easy to implement tool.

According to the IASB's IFRS framework, qualitative characteristics are the attributes that make the information provided in financial statements useful to others. This study was conducted to investigate the quality of financial reports before and after adopting IFRSs in Ghana, and also the influence of firm-specific characteristics which include firm size, profitability, debt equity ratio, liquidity and audit firm size on the quality of financial information disclosed by firms listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange. The research was conducted through detailed analysis of the pre-official adoption period, (2006) and post adoption period, (2008) financial statements of the listed firms.  Descriptive analysis was performed to provide the background statistics of the variables examined.  This was followed by regression analysis which forms the main data analysis.  The results of the quality of financial information disclosure mean of 76.80% (pre adoption) and 87.09% (post adoption) for the two years indicate that the quality of financial reports has improved significantly after adopting IFRSs. The study thus confirms that the implementation of IFRSs generally reinforce accounting disclosure quality.  It also indicates listed firms' overwhelming compliance with the IASB's IFRS Framework. The results of the multiple regression analysis show that company size, represented by net assets and Auditor type were found to be associated at a statistically significant level with the quality of financial information disclosed.  With the improvement in the quality of the financial reports after adopting IFRS users are assured of useful information for financial decision-making.Keywords: Quality of financial reports' disclosure, Firm-specific characteristics, International Financial Reporting Standards, Mandatory disclosure, Ghana. JEL Classifications: M40, M41, M48

Different from previous studies in Vietnam, this paper focuses on fraud risk, identifying the factors that affect the risk of financial reporting fraud of listed companies in Vietnam. Moreover, the research aims to forecast the possibility of fraudulent financial statements of listed companies in Vietnam. Based on M-score models (Beneish, 1999) and F-score model (Dechow et al., 2011), this research develops experimental results based on a sample of 307 companies with 3684 financial statements observations from 2007 to 2018. Research results show that the higher financial leverage in firms’ financial statements, the higher risk of financial statements, and the higher fraud’s tendency. Moreover, the findings also show that perennial firms, bigger firms, and listed firms, they likely to have a higher tendency of financial statement fraud. Research results show that the higher the financial leverage ratio, the more errors in reporting, the higher the tendency for fraud. At the same time, the older a business, the larger its scale and listed on the stock exchange, the more likely it is that the financial statements are fraudulent.

The main purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) adoption and Audit Quality (AQ) on Earnings Management (EM) practices in Saudi Arabia listed firms. EM is measured by the discretionary accrual using Healy (1985) and Kothari, Leone, and Wasley (2005) models. The research sample contains 16 Saudi listed firms during the period from 2014 to 2019. Statistical analysis including t-test and linear regression were used to test the research hypotheses. The investigation indicates that there is a negative relationship between IFRS adoption and EM practices, especially if it is combined with AQ, while it found a positive relationship between firms’ size and accrual EM, and no significant impact of AQ on firms’ debt ratio and EM practices. The importance of these results lies in providing clear evidence that the adoption of IFRS in developing countries has helped reduce earnings manipulation practices, which contributes to gaining confidence in Saudi firms and thus attracting many foreign investments.
