Theoretical Foundations of Informatics is a classic branch of discrete mathematics taught to students in various information, mathematical and technical fields. The presentation of the material is mainly carried out using matrix algebra. This article describes a methodology for teaching the topic of error correcting coding to pedagogical university students as part of the course on theoretical foundations of informatics and considers an algorithm for obtaining a Hamming code through a tabular template. An original implementation of the considered algorithm in PascalABC. NET is proposed. When writing code, modern techniques are used: dynamic arrays, slices, safe slices, conditional (ternary) operation, foreach loop, sequence methods, lambda expressions, tuples, documenting comments, etc. The functions of the School module from the official delivery of the PascalABC.NET compiler are used to work with binary numbers. The described methodology has been tested in teaching 4-year students of the pedagogical direction, the profile "Mathematics and Informatics" of the Orenburg State Pedagogical University and has shown its applicability. In  addition, it is possible to use the proposed approach for teaching schoolchildren at a specialized level or in extracurricular work.

The emergence of an increasing number of foreign students in Russian universities indicates the importance of the Russian higher education system in the world community. At the same time, a new problem emerged on the agenda — how to train foreigners from abroad with high quality, taking into account their different readiness in mastering the Russian language and different subject training. The article describes the problems that foreign students face when studying informatics at a pedagogical university. The combined profiles, including “Informatics”, of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Mordovian State Pedagogical Institute named after M. E. Evsevjev were the experimental research site. On the example of the “Theoretical Foundations of Informatics” discipline, the ways of teaching informatics are shown. Examples of assignments, including tasks for independent work, for teaching foreign students to informatics at the specified university are given.

The purpose of this study is (1) to examine Australian university students' awareness of the benefits of Web 2.0 technologies and (2) to investigate the factors that influence students to adopt Web 2.0 technologies to supplement in-class learning, using the theoretical foundations of both Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) and Decomposed Theory of Planned Behaviour (DTPB). Findings indicated that most students in this study's sample were aware of the benefits of Web 2.0 technologies to supplement in-class instructions. The findings also indicated that students' attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control were strong determinants of their intention to use Web 2.0 technologies.

The textbook presents the theoretical foundations of building a harmonious composition, describes the three main laws of composition (the law of integrity, the law of balance and the law of dominance), and considers the elements and means of harmonizing the composition. A separate Chapter is devoted to the issues of color in the composition, and offers options for creating harmonious color solutions. Semiotic aspects are considered, characteristics and features of creating signs-icons, signs-indexes and signs-symbols are given. One of the chapters is devoted to visual illusions in composition. It is intended for University students studying in the direction 54.03.01 "Design", teachers, as well as for a wide range of artists, designers and Amateurs interested in creating a harmonious composition.

The paper presents a number of problem research situations of reading in the University pedagogical training. The paper’s focus is on the Belarusian State Pedagogical University students’ addressing the heritage of the Polish pedagogue Janusz Korczak. Described are common readers’ strategies used by students in the process of learning and marginal textual tactics creating the possibilities of diversification of readers’ practices in class. The condition for such kind of transformation is Korczak’s specific design of pedagogical statement which enables him to act as a “screen” for students to project and implement their pedagogical experiences.

The article deals with the problem of organizing and conducting a pedagogical Olympiad for students. The theoretical foundations of the organization of Olympiads in pedagogy, disclosed in the scientific literature, are presented. The purpose of the article is to determine the essential characteristics of this form of extracurricular work with students, the organizational conditions that are important for solving the problems of modern higher education. The article describes the technology of preparation and implementation of the Pedagogical Olympiad in a higher education institution focused on the training of a competent specialist: the stages of activity, the purpose and objectives, competitive tasks and the tool for their evaluation, organizational conditions. The article presents the experience of conducting such an extra-university event at the Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University. The description of the Olympiad tasks developed taking into account the competence approach and in the context of innovative technologies of teaching in higher education is given. The methodological foundations of the organization are revealed.

At present special attention is paid to research activities in the education of university students. When selecting specific activities to involve students in research activities, many factors should be considered. The main two factors are: the level of organization of research activities in the university and the level of student involvement in research activities. The article proposes an original model for assessing the effectiveness of the system of forms aimed at the involvement of students in research activities. The model is based on the analysis of the forms implemented in Ulyanovsk State Pedagogical University named after I.N. Ulyanov. The authors’ model, unlike the well-known ones, allows to analyze the level of organization of research activities in the university and the level of students’ involvement in research activities.

The purpose of this chapter is: (1) to examine Australian university students' awareness of the benefits of Web 2.0 technologies, and (2) to investigate the factors that influence students to adopt Web 2.0 technologies to supplement in-class learning, using the theoretical foundations of both Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) and Decomposed Theory of Planned Behaviour (DTPB). Web survey data of 60 students studying in 14 universities and 1 undergraduate college across Australia were used to examine the aforementioned purposes. Findings indicate that most students in this study's sample were aware of the benefits of Web 2.0 technologies to supplement in-class instructions. The findings also indicate that students' attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control were strong determinants of their intention to use Web 2.0 technologies.
