The counseling competence of a counselor trainer is further enhanced when they are able to perform self-reflection on everything that has been and is being done on the process of counseling operated. This survey was conducted to determine the relation of self-reflection with the three dimension of counseling competence; performing helping skill, managing the counseling process, and handling challenging counseling situations. A total of 100 trainee counselors from four public universities in Malaysia were involved in this study. The instrument used in this study is Self-awareness and Management Strategies (SAMS) Scale to measured the self-reflection, and the Counselor Activity Self- Efficacy Scales (CASES) to measured the counseling competence. Result of the Pearson Product Moment Coefficient indicated there is a significant relationship between self-reflection with counseling competence; performing helping skill and counseling competence;handling challenging counselling A disscussion of the findings are presented and several implications and recommendations for further development of counseling competence of trainee counselors.

Self-Reflection (SR) has received a high degree of attention in extant Counseling Competence (CC). The present study sought to determine the relation of SR subscale; self awareness, and managing strategies with the three general areas in CC; performing helping skill, managing the counseling process, and handling challenging counseling situations. A total of 100 counselor trainees completed The Self-awareness and Management Strategies (SAMS) Scale to measured the SR, and the Counselor Activity Self-Efficacy Scales (CASES) to measured the CC. Result of the Pearson Product Moment Coefficient indicated there is a significant relationship between SR; Self-awareness with CC;handling challenging counselling, and SR;management strategies with all the three general areas in CC. A disscussion of the findings are presented and several implications and recommendations for further development of CC a proposed.

Abstract This study examined the relationship between mental toughness (MT) and self-awareness in a sample of 175 male and 158 female South African tennis athletes (mean age = 29.09 years, s.d. = 14.00). The participants completed the Sport Mental Toughness Questionnaire and the Self-Reflection and Insight Scale to assess MT (confidence, constancy, control) and self-awareness (self-reflection and self-insight) dimensions, respectively. Linear regression indicated that self-insight (β=0.49), but not self-reflection (β=0.02), predicted global MT. Multivariate regression analyses were significant for self-reflection (ηp²=0.11) and self-insight (ηp²=0.24). Self-reflection predicted confidence and constancy (ηp²=0.05 and 0.06, respectively), whereas self-insight predicted all three MT subcomponents (ηp²=0.12 to 0.14). The findings extend prior qualitative research evidence supporting the relevance of self-awareness to the MT of competitive tennis athletes, with self-reflection and insight forming prospective routes through which athletes’ MT may be developed.

The objective of this study is to determine the influence of faculty workload on job satisfaction among lecturers in four public universities in Kelantan. Sample was randomly selected through systematic procedure. There were 320 samples responded the self-administered questionnaires. The data was analysed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation and the result indicated that there was negative significant relationship between daily faculty workload and job satisfaction. Organization should consider this variable in promoting satisfaction among employees in order to enhance organizational citizenship.

The study correlated self-awareness competence and administrative behavior of academic administrators in public universities South-South geo-political zone in Nigeria. The research question and hypothesis proposed establish the significance of correlation between the independent and dependent variables. As a result, 13 public universities and 550 academic heads in six States, South-South Nigeria was grouped into clusters and seven universities and 350 respondents were sampled in Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta States. Two independent measurement scales titled Self- Awareness Questionnaire (SEAQ) and Administrative Behaviour Questionnaire (ABQ) computed with Cronbatch Alpha presented 0.75 and 0.78 reliability index. However, final analysis was based on 200 quantitative responses actively gathered and computed with Pearson product moment coefficient for relationship, and hypothesis was tested with z statistics at 0.05 significant level. Available empirical evidence from the study revealed r-value of 0.308 for self-awareness, which affirmed positive relationship between the understudied variables. Furthermore, the tested hypothesis showed z-rcal 0.778 at df 199 greater than zrcrit 0.195 and the observed correlation between self-awareness competence and administrative behaviour was statistically significant. In conclusion, academic heads in public universities were encouraged to further enhance their self-awareness domain of emotional intelligence because their action and inaction have greater consequences to their role behaviour, institutional goals and organisational climate of universities.

The Shadow archetype as an unconscious psychological determinant indicates the manifestation of anxiety, unconscious fear and depression of teens, boys and girls. Under the dominance of the Shadow archetype of personality, some individual adolescents show signs of anxiety, depression, and this state begins to dominate their Ego, an archetype that testifies to Self-identity and Self-awareness of the ‘I’, which can lead to loss of control over their behavior. Young students — boys show a correlation between the anima scales and the self. ‘Self’ as an archetype of personality, affecting the development and formation of personality of an individual, indicates the existence of a strong direct relationship between these scales, that is, with high Self-indicators of ‘Self’, high indicators of the anima scale are demonstrated. A statically significant relationship is found between the ego and Self-scales, as well as between the Shadow and Self-scales. With high indices of the ‘Self’, with the development and formation of individuality of the individual, high indices of Ego scales and Shadow are demonstrated.

We investigated the relationships among the self-reflection and self-insight components of self-awareness, and resilience and stress in competitive South African tennis players. A sample of 175 male and 158 female athletes (Mage = 29.09 years, SD = 14.00) completed the Self-Reflection and Insight Scale, the Resilience Scale for Adults, and the stress items from the Recovery-Stress Questionnaire for Athletes. The results indicated that both self-reflection and self-insight were positively correlated with resilience, and that self-insight, but not selfreflection, was negatively correlated with stress. Multivariate regression analysis revealed that self-insight was the single significant predictor of both resilience and stress. Our findings provide support for the importance of self-awareness, particularly self-insight, in mitigating stress and promoting resilience among tennis athletes. The implications of engaging in selfreflective practices and attaining self-insight in terms of improved athletic performance outcomes are discussed.

Abstract The experience of hearing one’s own voice during the act of speaking is a form of self-awareness and self-reflection that occurs in relation to and in interaction with the flow of experience, including the experience of other selves and their voices. Self-communication is deeply implicated in and necessary for interpersonal communication (Harris 1996). And yet, it is the latter which is generally taken to be the paradigm case of human languaging. The fundamental role of self-communication is neglected in the language sciences. Starting with the important fact that we hear our own voice when we speak (Harris 1996, chap. 11), this paper examines the central role of self-communication in the emergence of the self and the self’s role in languaging.
