Vocabulary is one of the important elements of the English language. There are many media which can be used in teaching vocabulary to young learners. In this research, the researcher used video on YouTube to teach vocabulary. The research focuses on how students’ engagement during the implementation of video on YouTube in teaching vocabulary at an English course. In this research, the researcher used descriptive–qualitative research, and observation and documentation were used for collecting the data. This research was conducted at an English course in Bogor, in which the participants are seven young learners at grade two. The findings of this research were classified into two themes; students’ response to the classroom activities and the teacher instruction, and student’s engagement to the use of video on YouTube. It is revealed that most young learners at an English course were engaged during the implementation of the video on YouTube in teaching vocabulary. They also gave positive responses to the learning activity and preferred learning English vocabulary by using video on YouTube.

Vocabulary as one of English component and it’s very important to learn. Before the students master the four skills they have to know some vocabularies to support them in learning English. English vocabulary as one of the language skill elements has an important role for young learners in learning foreign languages. In presenting English, especially vocabulary, the teacher should be creative in choosing materials and able to stimulate the student's interest. The teacher needs to manipulate some strategies to support the teaching and learning process. Teaching English for young learner is different from teaching adults in a way that they are often more enthusiastic, active and easily adaptive than adults. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research. This research is a descriptive qualitative research that focuses on vocabulary building strategy in teaching vocabulary to young learners. It describes the technique and method used by the teacher in teaching English vocabulary to young learner.

In Indonesia, English is taught even in the most basic educational institutions, that is Kindergarten. But, most of the Kindergarten teacher did not graduate from English department, so the English they taught often contain the mistakes. This study aimed to identify the mistakes that was made by the teacher during teaching and learning English. The designed of this study is descriptive-qualitative research. The data of this study was collected from the sentences containing mistakes spoken by the teacher in teaching and learning activity at Kindergarten Ar-Roihan Lawang. The result of this study showed that the teacher did some mistakes when she taught English in the class. The researcher found 32 mistakes made by the teacher. The most mistakes made by the teacher is structure of the sentences with 18 mistakes, the second is the plural of nouns with 8 mistakes, and the last is tenses with 6 mistakes.

<p>The purpose of this study was to describe the use of Total Physical Response (TPR) method on young learners English Language Teaching (ELT) at Panti Asuhan Yauma. The method of the research is descriptive qualitative. In this research the researcher describes the activities carried out by teachers and students by using TPR method. The data resources are from teacher and students in Panti Asuhan Yauma Jakarta. The class consists of 30 students which their ages were around 5 to 11 years old. The data collected through observation in learning activities. The instruments were pre-test and post-test with 2 (two) criterion being assessed, namely vocabulary and comprehension. They were divided into 5 (five) elements such as accuracy of word, understanding each word, word choice, understanding the meaning, and speaking easily. The results showed that there was an improvement in vocabulary score about 27.40 and comprehension score about 28.77. The research finding first showed that when using the TPR method children enjoyed and were also very active in learning English. The researcher hopes that the study contributes to the activities of teaching and learning English, especially teaching English for young learners. It was proved by the score from pre-test and post-test.</p>

This article aims at sharing information on how pictionary game is used to increase the learners’ vacabulary mastery in the process of teaching and learning. It is clear that vocabulary is one of components of English language. When the learners are reading, they need to master vocabulary related to certain topic. Therefore vocabulary is important thing in learning English. However, mastering English vocabularies is not easy. English is foreign language in which learning English is often considered to be difficult to comprehend. This problem can be seen from the unsatisfactory result when learning English. The learning processs commonly used in the classroom just puts the teacher as a center of learning. It means that the teacher always dominates him/herself to teach, not to focus on how the learners learn effectively. This makes the learners passive and less interested in following the course of learning. In fact the learners’ interest is the most important factor in the study. Interest can be developed if the learning process run with fun, vary, and conducive athmosphere. There are many factors that can support the existance of an increase in the study, i.e. teachers, learners, materials, media, methods, and other learning sources. One factor that can help the learners learn vocabulary is the use of pictionary game. In this study, pictionary game is a classic game of drawing and guessing pictures. Pictionary game can also increase the imagination of learners, where learners are asked to draw according to the word given by the teachers. Things that are needed to play pictionary game are a list or card of vocabulary items, whiteboard, calkboard, or smart board and markers. Pictionary game will help learners to get involved in classroom activities. Other advantages of using pictionary game can be concluded that it provides fun language practice in the various language skills.

This study is try to find out the students’ attitude towards English language learning in Jombang elementary schools. Attitude is one of the factors that influence the language acquisition. The study used qualitative research methodology. The data were gathered by using questionnaire. The findings showed that most of the students have positive attitude towards English. But, there is a finding that showed the students’ competence in learning English is poor. Positive attitude did not influence their competence in acquiring English. Some suggestions for government to make a guide or curriculum of English teaching –learning in elementary school. So that the teachers know how to teach English for young learner appropriately.

English language lessons have become compulsory secondary schools. Especially, in era of globalization writing is very important The purpose of this study is to investigate students' difficulties in writing recount text through Project Based Learning. This study used descriptive qualitative research. The data was gathered through questionaire. The questionnaire were administered to eight grade students of SMPN 3 Batujajar in the academic year of 2019/2020. The questionnaires consist of 5 statements related to aspects of writing. The data was analyzed descriptively.The result showed that most of students got difficulties in writing related to five aspect of writing, such as content (23,33%), grammar or language use (56,67%), organization (36,67%), mechanic (43,33%), and vocabulary (26,67%).

This study aims to know the students’ perceptions about the use of cooperative learning activity in learning English. This study use qualitative research. The sample of this study involved 31 students in class XI social two at SMA Cipta Mandiri in the academic year 2017/2018. In collecting the data the researchers use questionnaire of 20 (twenty) questions that relate to cooperative learning activity. The result of this study shows that most of students agreed if the teacher use cooperative learning activity in the classroom. The students though that through cooperative learning activity, the lesson more interesting and helps them acquire knowledge easily.Keywords:   Students’ Perception, Cooperative Learning Actvity

This research aims to describe the implementation of English Zone (EZo) activities in learning English speaking skills for young learners. Employing qualitative descriptive study, this research included observation of teaching and learning process, and interview that was administered to 10 students from Kampung Sawah, West Hadimulyo. Ten meetings were observed thoroughly. Each observation took place in English language classroom every Sunday at Al-Fatimah Mosque. This research presented the implementation of English Zone (EZo) to young learners and students’ responses to the implementation of EZo. The findings illuminated the powerful ways in which EZo was able to improve students’ speaking skill. The students were having fun in the classroom which made them actively participate IN speaking practice with their friends or teachers. The findings further highlighted that EZo showed a good result in improving students’ confidence during their speaking practice. EZo helped them to speak more and decreased hesitation. This research discusses the involving chain massage to accommodate young learners' learning style in which is conducted at grade 4 of one elementary school in Bandung. The aim of this research are (1) involving chain massage games in teaching English to the young learner, especially in grade 4 of an elementary school in Bandung, (2) finding out teacher’s and children’s responses toward the implementation of chain message in TEYL. This research uses a qualitative study where there are 40 students and one English teacher as the participants. The findings of this study show that chain messages can be considered as an effective activity of TEYL.The children seem to learn English more excitedly by game. With regard to the teacher, chain message game creates classroom activities more interesting and joyful because the children’s are involved in. Moreover, this game is also support different learning style of the children, visual, auditory and kinesthetic. However, the teachers found some obstacles in implementing the technique because they still children who easily get bored.

The research aims at describing teacher’s process in building teacher-students relationship in teaching and learning reading through alphabet cube to 15 young learners 5-6 years old and a teacher as the sample at RA AL-Barokah Jenggawah. This is a descriptive-qualitative research with data collection through observation, interview and documentation. In building teacher-students relationship in teaching and learning reading through alphabet cube, building a sense of community within the classroom and creating consistent routines and procedures were the highest frequency among all with 95 % and 93 % implementation. On the contrary, the use of humor, create consequences for behavior together and show courtesy were the lowest implementation by the teacher with 30 % and 47 % implementation. Other components implemented by the teachers included giving attention, motivation, sense of togetherness, individual assistance, proximity, feedback and using praise indicated the average percentage implementation from 63%-89%. It can be concluded that most of the activities in thirteen components in building teacher-students relationship in teaching reading using alphabet cube to the students at RA Al-Barokah Jenggawah were implemented above fifteen percent by the teacher.
