The main modules of the 011-1-02N Remdetal installation for steel tape electrical resistance welding are described. The plant malfunctions arising during operation are identified. The analysis of the influence of these faults on the formation of a high-quality surface layer during the restoration of parts is performed. Recommendations on the maintenance operations of the modules under consideration are given.

In CAID software based on NURBS technology, the quality of curve directly affects the quality of surface, and the post-editing and modification of the surface, so good curve is the core and key to build high-quality surface. In this paper, combining the basic theory of NURBS curves with practical experience, we conduct an in-depth study in the method of controlling the quality of the NURBS curves, and propose an implementation to improve the quality of the NURBS curves.

It is generally observed that special channels exit in many key components of machine, such as non-linear tube, applied in military or civil industries. Its surface finish is a crucial factor in the whole performance of machine. In military and civil fields, many key parts have special passages, such as non-linear tube. The surface quality of non-linear tube usually decides the general using property of the whole equipment. The abrasive flow machining technology can effectively improve the surface quality of non-linear tube parts and promote the using property of the whole equipment. The technology of solid-liquid two-phase abrasive flow machining can obtain higher enhancement in surface quality. To investigate the processing technology of abrasive flow machining for non-linear tube–injection nozzle, we performed a full factorial experiment modifying critical process parameters such as particle density, particle size, and abrasive viscosity during the machining. The study investigated the relationship among abrasive particle physical property, surface quality of non-linear tube, and the optimal parameters. At the same time, we deduced the regression equation which takes the abrasive particle physical property as the key factor. Through full factorial experimental study, it is found that under the experimental conditions of this article, abrasive flow polishing process serves best when the abrasive concentration is 10% and the particle size is 6 μm. Moreover, the verification experiment of the non-linear nozzle is carried out. The average value of the experimental data is located in the prediction interval, which confirmed the accuracy of the whole factor test. The experimental results can provide technical support for further research of abrasive flow machining theory. The research results in this article have profound theoretical significance and practical value for improving the machining efficiency of non-linear parts and obtaining high-quality-surface passages. The study data possess important theory significance and practical value for improving the processing efficiency for non-linear tube and obtaining a high-quality surface channel. The experimental results can provide technology support for further study on abrasive flow machining theory.

Abstract The study was concerned with the effect of severe deformation induced in one pass, by hydrostatic extrusion on the properties of fine aluminum, aluminum-silicon alloy, copper and silver wires. The influence of adiabatic heating which takes place during deformation on the mechanical properties and microstructure of the wires was examined. The quality of the surface of the wires was estimated. It has been demonstrated that fine aluminum and silver wires processed by hydrostatic extrusion have very good mechanical properties and a high-quality surface.

The availability of high-quality surface data acquired by recent Mars missions and the development of increasingly accurate methods for analysis have made it possible to identify, describe, and analyze many geological and geomorphological processes previously unknown or unstudied on Mars. Among these, the slow and large-scale slope deformational phenomena, generally known as Deep-Seated Gravitational Slope Deformations (DSGSDs), are of particular interest. Since the early 2000s, several studies were conducted in order to identify and analyze Martian large-scale gravitational processes. Similar to what happens on Earth, these phenomena apparently occur in diverse morpho-structural conditions on Mars. Nevertheless, the difficulty of directly studying geological, structural, and geomorphological characteristics of the planet makes the analysis of these phenomena particularly complex, leaving numerous questions to be answered. This paper reports a synthesis of all the known studies conducted on large-scale deformational processes on Mars to date, in order to provide a complete and exhaustive picture of the phenomena. After the synthesis of the literature studies, the specific characteristics of the phenomena are analyzed, and the remaining main open issued are described.

To investigate the possibility of developing a new surface modification method by the combined process of ELID grinding and high-temperature oxidization, we treated ELID finished specimens and polished specimens by high-temperature oxidization in the atmosphere and performed detailed analysis to determine how the treatment would change the specimen surfaces. The ELID-series showed high quality surface roughness and excellent tribological characteristics as compared with the polished-series. The improved surface properties of the ELID-series seem to result from formation of fine, uniform structures of spinel-type multiple oxides FeCr 2 O 4 and Cr 2 O 3 on the surface by high-temperature oxidization.
