Forty-four hyacinth bean genotypes were evaluated for different qualitative and quantitative characters during July 2005 to February 2006 at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur. The genotypes showed considerable variations for most of the morpho-physical traits. Shape, size and colour of vein, leaf, petiole, stem, flower, pod and seed varied among the genotypes. Days to first flower ranged from 47.6 to 136.3 days indicating the presence of early variety. Individual pod weight varied from 1.47 (HB042) to 12.3g (HB009). The genotype HB027 produced the maximum number of pods/ plant (425) closely followed by HB001 (385). Similar trend was observed for pod yield/plant. The genotype HB027 produced the highest pod yield/plant (3.45kg) followed by HB001 (3.35kg). 100-green seed weight ranged from 4.0g to 73.33g, which indicated the presence of bold seeded genotypes. Among the genotypes, HB027 and HB007 produced very bold green seed and higher green pod yield/plant, therefore, they can be selected for both pod and green seed production purpose. Variations in growth and yield of three hyacinth bean genotypes collected from Sitakundu of Chittagong, were investigated at the Agricultural Research Station (ARS) of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Pahartali, Chittagong during November 2011 to March 2012, where BARI Seem-4 was used as standard control. The minimum number of days for pod formation (54 days) was recorded in BARI Seem-4, while the maximum was in DLP 002 (62 days). The highest number of pods (324) per plant was obtained from DLP 001 followed by DLP 003 (212.33) and the lowest (148.33) was obtained from BARI Seem-4. The maximum weight (12.61 g) of single pod was observed in DLP 003, which is close to that of DLP 002 (12.23 g). The minimum weight of single pod (7.08g) was however observed in DLP 001. Weight of 100-green seed (117.17 g) was maximum in DLP 002, while that of DLP 001 was the minimum (85.90 g).The maximum green seed (61.86 %) was found in DLP 003 and the minimum was in DLP 001 (47.89 %). DLP 003 produced the highest pod yield (26.77 t/ha) which was followed by DLP 001 (22.94 t/ha), while BARI Seem-4 produced the lowest (17.43 t/ha), which is close to that of DLP 002 (19.57 t/ha).The Agriculturists 2014; 12(2) 01-05

Studies on genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance were carried out with 14 genotypes of Lablab bean (Lablab purpureus L.) cultivated at the Agro-ecological zone9 (AEZ-9) comprising the Old Brahmaputra Floodplain Soil. Considerable amount of genotypic and phenotypic coefficient of variation was observed for all characters studied. Phenotypic variation was greater than that of the genotypic variations for all the characters. The greater portion of total phenotypic variation was due to the genotypic variation. Highest genetic and phenotypic variation were observed for green pod yield per plant (1882.68 and 2108.43, respectively) and 100-green seed weight (1380.91 and 1452.07, respectively) Heritability values were higher for days to maturity (81.37) , number of raceme per plant (80.62), pod length (99.43), pod width (99.27), green pod yield per plant (89.29), dry shelling percentage (91.58), seed yield per plant (84.93) and protein content (98.11) indicating the better potentials of improving these characters for improvement of yield. Lignosus bean is a perennial vine of Fabaceae. Green seeds, tender leaves and twigs are used as vegetable and dry split cotyledons as pulse soup. Canopy characters, growth and biochemical features of the two genotypes, ‘G1’ and ‘G2’, of Lignosus bean were studied. Numbers of leaf meter-1 vine, % fertile inflorescence plant-1, green pod yield plant-1 and dry mass plant-1 were greater in G1 genotype (10.11, 73.17%, 3.21 kg and 2.68 kg, respectively) than G2 genotype (9.55, 66.52%, 2.80 kg and 1.97 kg, respectively). On the other hand, leaflet area, inflorescence length, number of node and pod inflorescence-1, fresh pod length and width, hundred fresh seed weight and shell ratio were higher in G2 genotype (33.26 cm2 , 9.47 cm, 24.33, 3.51, 6.99 cm, 1.55 cm, 125.08 g, 83.61%, respectively) than that in the G1 one (29.04 cm2 , 0.61 cm, 8.32 cm, 16.0, 2.52, 6.56 cm, 1.35 cm, 80.57 g, 72.69%, respectively). Total soluble solids of seed; and total chlorophyll of leaf and seed were also higher in G2 (31.43%, 59.19 mg/l and 0.83 mg/l, respectively) but Vitamin C of green seed was higher in G1 genotype (43.84 mg%). The paper presents the results of some of the qualitative and quantitative parameters of Clematis flammula plants study. The plants have been naturalized in different phytocenotic conditions of the Southern Coast of Crimea. It has been found that in the studied plants most of the parameters of leaves and flowers are characterized by an average variability (10 <Cv <30). Plants also differ in the shape and dissection of the leaves. Low coefficient of variation (Cv, up to 10%) of a seed weight indicates an insignificant variability of this parameter.The parameter such as the length of the leaf petiole (Cv, 43-59%) is distinguished by a high variability.

An experiment for diversity analysis with 66 genotypes of lablab bean (Lablab purpureus L.) was conducted at Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) during 2009-2010. Data were collected from all experimental plants on the following characters: days to first flowering, days to 50% flowering, days to first pod setting, no. of pods per plant, wt. of 20 pods (g), pod yield per plant (g), pod length (cm), number of seeds per pod, number of seeds per plant, 100-seed weight (g), and seed yield per plant (g). As per multivariate analysis, the genotypes were grouped into seven clusters. The highest number of genotypes 15 was included in cluster V followed by cluster II, which contained 13 genotypes. Cluster III, I, VI, IV contained 12, 11, 6, and 5 genotypes, respectively. The cluster VII which included 4 genotypes was the smallest among the 7 clusters. It is important to note that the highest amount of genetic divergence within the cluster group was noticed in the cluster VII having only 4 genotypes. The inter-cluster distances (D2) were higher than the intra-cluster distances. The inter-cluster D2 values varied from 2059.094 to 19302.6. The distances between the cluster VII and V; VII and VI; VII and II and VII and I were comparatively high than the other inter-cluster distances. The genotypes of these clusters were thus more diversified for yield and yield contributing characters. The intracluster distance (8502.795) observed in cluster VII revealed maximum diversity among themselves. While the least variation (625.372) was noticed between genotypes of the cluster II signifying the closeness of the genotypes included in this cluster. Data on the contribution of individual characters towards divergence suggested that no. of pods per plant contributed maximum (34.033%) to the genetic divergence followed by pod yield per plant and 100-seed weight. The genotypes of the cluster VII produced highest pods per plant and those of the cluster II produced lowest pod yield per plant. Seed yield per plant was found to be highest in cluster VII and lowest in cluster II. Results of the study suggested that selection for these traits in climbing genotypes might be effective. By strategically using this diversity, the breeder can develop high yielding varieties of lablab bean. Bangladesh J. Agril. Forty four hyacinth bean genotypes were studied to estimate the variability, heritability, genetic advance and correlation coefficients. There was a large variation among the genotypes for all the characters among which the number of pods per plant had highest (122 to 425). Green pod yield per plant varied from 0.46 kg to 3.45 kg indicating the presence of high yielding genotypes. High genotypic coefficient of variation was obtained for 100-green seed weight, pod yield per plant, number of pods per plant and harvesting duration. The highest heritability was observed for days to first flower (98.39%) followed by days to first harvest (96.1 %).The pod yield per plant also exhibited high heritability of 77.9% with highest genetic advance (68.28) indicating the possibility of selection to improve this traits. Yield of green pods showed highly significant and positive association with number of pods per plant (r=0.71**), individual pod weight (r=0.54**) and harvesting duration (r=0.198*), which indicates the importance of these characters during selection for high yielding genotypes in hyacinth bean. The results of the study carried out during 2009-2010 with lablab bean (Lablab purpureus) are presented in this paper. Data were recorded from all experimental plants on the following characters as number of pods/plant, pod yield/plant (g), number of seeds/pod, number of seeds/plant; seed yield/plant (g), Range, mean, genetic parameter, correlation co-efficient and path coefficient were studied. High heritability coupled with high expected genetic advance in percentage of mean were observed for most of the characters. The coefficients of correlation showed that seed yield/plant was positively and significantly correlated with days to first flowering, days to 50% flowering, days to first pod setting, number of pods/plant, pod yield/plant and seeds/pod, number of seeds/plant, and seed yield. Path coefficient analysis showed that days to first flowering, days to 50% flowering, number of pods/plant, 20 pod weight (g), pod yield/plant, pod length, number of seeds/pod, number of seeds/plant, 100-seed weight influenced seed yield/plant directly in positive direction. Among the characters, number of seeds/plant had high positive correlation with seed yield/plant. Days to first pod setting exhibited negative direct effects on seed yield. From this result, it can be concluded that days to first flowering, days to 50% flowering, number of pods/plant, pod yield/plant, number of seeds/pod, number of seeds/plant, 100-seed weight are the most important yield contributing characters as they influenced pod yield and seed yield directly in positive direction. The wide range of uses of Moringa oleifera in recent time has witnessed increasing demand of its foliar and seed products in nutritional, medical and ecological applications. The upsurge of demand for these products needs to be balanced with new varieties of improved performance to meet the supply chain. To achieve this, morphological diversity assessment is prerequisite for future crop improvement programme. Therefore, numerical analyses of the external morphology of leaf and fruit of thirty accessions of Moringa oleifera were assessed. The study was carried out on both qualitative and quantitative characters to assess the diversity at morphological level to establish the phenetic relationships and the delimitation of accessions. Relationship studies showed considerable correlation between the leaf and fruits characters that produced clear and reproducible threats and were selected for diversity study. Numerical analysis of the qualitative and quantitative characters clustered the accessions into five groups – operational taxonomic units (OTUs) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 were clustered in group one; OTUs 6 and 8 were clustered in group two and three respectively; OTUs 15 and 16 in group four and OUT 23 in group five cluster membership. Principal Component Analysis was carried out to augment the Cluster Analysis which showed large morphological diversity existing in accessions of Moringa oleifera hence, infraspecific classification is hereby proposed.  These analysis particularly traits related to leaf and fruits yield can also be utilised for crop improvement programme.

The subject of this paper is to evaluate criteria in the decision-making process for choosing new usable office facilities in light of a big company or public service seeking for new usable office facilities. The criteria defining the requirements for individual selection variants enter into this decision-making process. These criteria have qualitative and quantitative characters. In order to model the criteria, it is desirable that their values are standardized. The method of standardization of these criteria is given in this paper. In this paper, attention is paid to the decision-making process in the course of choosing new usable facilities in administration objects. This decision-making process is based on input data analyses and on conclusions for a certain selection variant resulting from them.
