Both genetic and environmental factors including parenting style are responsible for the causation of schizophrenia. A young adult developed delusion regarding alien as well as some characters of the computer games he used to play. Later he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. There was evidence of intrafamilial conflict with lack of good relationship with father. His introverted nature, lack of social interactions and some irrelevant behavior were found as being reinforced by her mother. There may be an association of schizophrenia with parenting style which may be modifiable. Bang J Psychiatry June 2018; 32(1): 22-23

Persistence of a distant goal is an important personality trait that determines academic and social success. Recent studies have shown that individual differences in persistence involve both genetic and environmental factors; however, these studies have not examined the role of maternal factors on a young children's persistence. The present study examined whether mothers' persistence is associated with persistence in children aged 3–6 years. In addition, the associations between mothers' persistence/parenting style and children's self-control/social development (prosocial behaviors and difficulties) were examined. Our results showed that maternal persistence is essential for the child's persistence. Children's self-control and social development were also associated with the mothers' persistence and parenting style. Our findings suggest that a young child's persistence may develop under the influence of a familiar adult (i.e., mother) and characterizes their social development, highlighting the importance of persistence in parenting.

Intelligence is one of the capital to navigate the future. This intelligence is influenced by two fundamental factors, namely genetic and environmental factors. Genetic factors have contributed to 30-40 percent, the rest is environmental factors that play a role. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of predominant breastfeeding and type of parenting style on the level of intelligence (IQ) of children aged 3-6 years in Kindergarten Earth Kasih Bunda Kediri. The study design used was an observational analytic populations are mothers of children aged 3-6 years in kindergarten Earth Kasih Bunda Kediri as many as 30 people. The sample in this study as much as 28taken by random sampling technique. multivariate data analysis with linear regression techniques to look at the influence of predominant breast feeding and type of parenting style on the level of intelligence (IQ) of children. The results of multivariate analysis showed that the variables simultaneously predominant breastfeeding and type of parenting style affects the level of intelligence (IQ) in which parenting variables have the greatest influence with the value of α = 0.016, followed by predominantly breast-feeding variable with a value of α = 0.043. Can be concluded that the longer the predominant breastfeeding, the better type of parenting can be predicted increase a child's IQ test results.; Key words: Predominant breastfeeding, parenting, IQ

Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) is constellation of contractions of multiple joints present at birth with fat or fibrous tissue partially or totally replacing muscles. Aetiological cause is from the interplay of genetic and environmental factors. It affects approximately 1 in 2-3000 live births. All four extremities are involved in50-60% of cases; lower limbs, in 30-40%, and upper limbs, in 10-15% of cases. Our patient is case of Amyoplasia with duodenal atresia. Had surgery and was seen in the clinic on follow up to 3 months. He has remain stable on physiotherapy.

AbstractReductionist thinking in neuroscience is manifest in the widespread use of animal models of neuropsychiatric disorders. Broader investigations of diverse behaviors in non-model organisms and longer-term study of the mechanisms of plasticity will yield fundamental insights into the neurobiological, developmental, genetic, and environmental factors contributing to the “massively multifactorial system networks” which go awry in mental disorders.
