A field experiment was carried out at Agronomy Field, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh during the period from November 2009 to March 2010 with a view to finding out the effect of appropriate dose of USG on growth and yield of wheat. Six levels of nitrogen (T0, T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5) were applied as treatments for growth and yield of wheat var. Bijoy for this study. Among the application of USG, treatment T5 produced the superior results on morpho-physiological and growth characters of wheat except number of non sterile spikelet where USG treatment T2 performs the best (1.82). As results, T5 produced the highest plant height (95.77 cm), number of total tiller hill-1 (4.96), no. of effective tiller (4.13), no of non effective tiller (1.00), number of total spikelet (20.22), no of spikelet spile-1 (10.92), sterile spieklet (18.70), no of grains spike-1 (46.27), 1000-grain yield (51.39 g), grain yield (2.42 t ha-1) and straw yield (4.06 tha-1).DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jesnr.v4i2.10164  J. The experiment was carried out at Agronomy Field Lab of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh during the period from November 2009 to March 2010 with a view of finding out the effect of appropriate dose of USG on growth and yield of wheat. Three wheat varieties viz. Shatabdi, Bijoy and Prodip and 6 levels of nitrogen (T0, T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5) were applied as treatments in this study. Among the application of USG on morpho-physiological and growth characters of wheat, the maximum plant height (98.33 cm), number of spikelet (21.33) and sterile spieklet (19.87) were found from V3T5. Similarly, V2T3 produced the highest no. of spikelet spile-1 (11.50) and grain yield (2.75 t ha-1) whereas similar treatment also showed the maximum no of non effective tiller (1.07) with V1T3.The treatment combination of V2T2 were recorded the highest on 1000-grain yield (51.98 g), no of non sterile spike (2.07) and no of grains spike-1 (48.87). The highest no of total tiller hill-1 (5.13) and effective tiller (4.33) were taken from the treatment combinations of V1T5. A field experiment was conducted at Kalikapur village of Kaliganj upazila under Satkhira district in order to observe the effects of flooding duration and additional application of K and S on transplanted boro rice cv. Binadhan-8 during January - May 2013. The experiment was laid out in a split-plot design where the main plots comprised of five flooding levels viz. continuous flooding (W1), flooding for 10 days (W2), flooding for 20 days (W3), flooding for 30 days (W4), flooding for 40 days (W5), and the sub-plots of four additional (over the recommended dose) nutrients rates viz. S43 + K25 (T1), K38 (T2), S32 + K38 (T3), and K50 (T4), with three replications. The duration of flooding showed significant positive effect on the yield and yield components of boro rice cv. Binadhan-8. The highest values for plant height (106.8 cm), panicle length (28.4 cm), number of plants hill-1 (15.3), grain yield (4.8 t ha-1) and straw yield (6.5 t ha-1) were recorded in continuous flooding (W1) while these values were decreased with the decrease in the duration of flooding from 40 days to 10 days. Additional application of K and S also significantly influenced all of the parameters. Results revealed that the highest values for plant height (102.8 cm), panicle length (26.6 cm), plants hill-1 (15.4), 1000-grain weight (23.9 g), grain yield (4.8 t ha-1) and straw yield (6.1t ha-1) were obtained from T3 where S and K were applied @ 32 and 38 Kg ha-1 in addition to the recommended fertilizer rate. The interaction of flooding and nutrients significantly manipulated the yield and yield attributes. Due to interaction of flooding and nutrients, the highest growth and yield was observed in continuous flooding with S32 + K38 (W1T3). The results indicated that the flooding with fresh water and use of additional nutrients (K and S) had a remarkable effect in growing boro rice cv. Binadhan-8 in saline soils of Bangladesh.Res. The research work was conducted at the Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during aman season from July to December 2015 to study the effect of nitrogen fertilizer and weed management on the growth and yield of transplant aman rice cv. BRRI dhan46. The experiment consisted of four fertilizer treatments viz. 0 kg N ha−1 (N0), 40 kg N ha−1(N1), 80 kg N ha−1(N2) and 120 kg N ha−1(N3) and four weeding treatments viz. one hand weeding at 20 DAT (W1), two hand weedings at 20 and 35 DAT (W2), three hand weedings at 20, 35 and 50 DAT (W3), weeding by Japanese rice weeder twice at 20 and 35 DAT (W4) and unweeded control (W5). The experiment was laid out in the randomized complete block design with three replications. The highest plant height (113.00 cm), number of total tillers hill−1 (8.74), number of effective tillers hill−1 (6.18), panicle length (21.98 cm), number of grains panicle−1 (114.20), grain yield (4.00 t ha−1), straw yield (5.25 t ha−1) and biological yield (9.25 t ha−1) were recorded in N2 (80 kg N ha−1) treatment. The lowest plant height (106.00 cm), number of total tillers hill-1 (7.20), number of effective tillers hill−1 (5.00), panicle length (20.70 cm), number of grains panicle−1 (97.60), grain yield (3.52 t ha−1), straw yield (4.46 t ha−1) and biological yield (7.97 t ha−1) were recorded from N0 (No nitrogen fertilizer control) treatment. On the other hand, the highest grain yield 4.23 t ha−1 was observed in three weedings condition because of the highest number of effective tillers hill−1 (6.81), number of grains panicle−1(111.10). The highest straw yield (5.51 t ha−1) was also found in three weeding condition. The lowest grain yield (3.40 t ha−1) was recorded in W5 (unweeded control) treatment. The lowest straw yield (4.31 t ha−1) was also observed in W5 (unweeded control) treatment because of the smallest plant (106.97 cm) and lower number of total tillers hill−1 (7.20). Therefore, 80 kg N ha−1along with three hand weedings at 20, 35 and 50 DAT may be used for obtaining the highest grain and straw yields of BRRI dhan46J. Bangladesh Agril. Effect of concentrate organic manure (wellgrow grain and wellgrow soil) and NPK improved the growth and yield of wheat. Significant improvement in terms of growth parameters like plant height, tillers, dry matter production and productive tillers with application of 120 : 60 : 60 NPK + 300 kg wellgrow soil/ha and at par with application of 120 : 60 : 60 NPK + 300 kg wellgrow grain/ha, treatment receiving 100% NPK + 300 kg wellgrow soil/ha resulted maximum grain yield (4545 kg /ha). Treatment of 100% NPK + 300 kg wellgrow grain/ha maintained higher straw yield (5715 kg/ha) and test weight (44.10 g) due to application of 100 % NPK along with 200 kg wellgrow soil/ha whereas it was at par with application of 75 and 100% NPK with both levels of wellgrow formulation. A field experiment was conducted at Rice Research Unit, Bapatla during Kharif, 2013 to observe the performance of hybrids under Krishna Western Delta. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with four replications. The treatments are 5 rice hybrids like DRRH2, DRRH3, KRH2, PA6201 and CRHR32. The results of study revealed that the hybrids exhibited superiority in respect of different growth parameters like plant height, number of tillers per hill, panicle length grain yield and straw yield. Among various tested rice hybrids, maximum grain yield (6408 kg/ha) and straw yield (7178 kg/ha) were recorded in PA6201 which might be due to better growth parameters and yield components of hybrids.

 A field experiment was conducted at the fields of Agriculture College , Anbar University, (alternative site Abu Ghraib) during  spring and fall seasons of 2017, to study the effect of soil and foliar application of potassium (140 kg.ha-1, 500, 1000 and 1500 mg-L-1) on growth and yield of three varieties of sorghum (Lelo, Inkath and Ishtar), The experiment was carried out according to the design of  (R.C.B.D) and in order of the split arrangement with three replicates.  Results shows, the cultivar Ishtar was superior in most studied characters such as plant height and leaf area ​​148.67, 152.25 cm, 5210, 4767 cm2.plant-1, in two seasons, respectively. The same cultivar gave the lowest number of days (from planting to 100% flowering), also it gave highest grain yield and highest harvest index which was 81.83 days and 4.93 ton.ha-1 and 25.15% respectively in spring season only. While the two varieties Lelo and Ishtar gave the lowest content of proline  leaves (2.11 and 0.18 mg.gm-1) in spring and fall seasons respectively. The highest concentration of potassium (1000mg L-1) was superior in plant height, leaf area and  grain yield (150.89, 155.78 cm, 5075, 4812 cm2 plant -1, 5.56, and 8.32 ton.ha-1) in two seasons  respectively.

A field experiment was conducted at Bilpar village of Sunamganj district in Bangladesh during November 2016 to May 2017 to find out the effects of Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) fertilizer on the growth and yield of boro rice in haor areas. Two factors viz. varieties (BRRI dhan29 and BRRI dhan58) and six TSP fertilizer levels [F1- 85 kg TSP ha-1 (Farmers’ practice), F2- 142 kg TSP ha-1, F3- 127 kg TSP ha-1, F4- 112 kg TSP ha-1 (BARC recommended dose), F5- 97 kg TSP ha-1, F6- 82 kg TSP ha-1] were included in the experiment. The experiment was conducted in the farmers’ field and laid out in a RCBD with three replications. Data were taken on plant height and tillers hill-1 at 15 days intervals. The yield and yield contributing parameters were also taken at harvest. Plant height, number of total tillers, effective tillers hill-1, panicle length, sterile spikelets, 1000 grain weight, grain and straw yield varied significantly due to variety. BRRI dhan58 produced higher number of effective tillers (10.60) and grains panicle-1 (136.9) over BRRI dhan29. BRRI dhan58 produced higher grain yield (8.92 t ha-1) compared to BRRI dhan29 (7.27 t ha-1). All the studied parameters differed significantly with the application of TSP fertilizer except non-effective tillers hill-1. Application of 112 kg TSP ha-1 produced the highest number of effective tillers hill-1 (12.00) and the lowest in farmers practice (7.20). Fertilizer Recommendation Guide based TSP fertilizer (112 kg ha-1) produced the highest grain yield (8.80 t ha-1) of boro rice and the lowest grain yield (7.40 t ha-1) in farmers’ practice. Results of the study elucidated that TSP application at 112 kg ha-1 was effective to improve the rice productivity.

The present experiment was conducted at Barrister Thakur Chhedilal College of Agriculture and Research Station, Bilaspur, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (C.G.) during Kharif season 2020-21. Entitled with “ Response of Nano N, Zn and Cu application on growth and yield of scented rice” including nano fertilizer nutrients with recommended dose of fertilizer 60:40:30 NPK kg ha-1. The experiment was presented in Randomized Block Design with three replication . The treatments was consisted of eigth treatments viz., Result revealed that treatment T8 (100 % PK + 50% N + 2 spray of nano N + Cu + Zn @ 4 + 2 + 2 ml liter-1 of water at 25 and 50 DAP), resulted the highest plant height, number of effective tillers at harvest , number of tillers per meter length at harvest, grain yield (32.83 qha-1), straw yield (66.51 q ha-1). Which was significantly superior over other treatments but was at par with T6 (100% PK + 50% N + 2 spray of nano N + Zn @ 4 + 2 ml liter-1 of water at 25 and 50 DAP ) with (28.91 qha-1) grain yield closely followed by the treatment T7, T5,T3.

This study was carried out with a view to evaluating the effect of foliar application of urea on BRRI dhan29. The experiment was laid out in a RCBD design with seven treatments (T1 : Full dose of prilled urea @ 140 Kg N ha-1) (control), T2 (50% prilled urea + 5 foliar spray @ 0.5% N solution @ 5.5 kg N spray-1),T3 (70% prilled urea + 3 foliar spray @ 0.5% N solution @ 5.5 kg N spray-1), T4 (50% prilled urea + 3 foliar spray @ 1.0% N solution @ 11 kg N spray-1), T5 (50% prilled urea + 5 foliar spray @ 0.5% N solution @ 5.5 kg N spray-1 + 5 t ha-1 cow dung), T6 (70% prilled urea + 3 foliar spray @ 0.5% N solution @ 5.5 kg N spray-1 + 5 t ha-1 cow dung) and T7 (50% prilled urea + 3 foliar spray @ 1.0% N solution @ 11 kg N spray-1 + 5 t ha-1 cow dung) and three replications. Soil and foliar application of nitrogen significantly influenced the growth and yield contributing characters like plant height, panicle length, and effective tillers hill-1 as well as the grain and straw yields of the crop. The treatment T5 produced the highest grain yield (6.68 t ha-1) which was statistically similar to yield from T7, T6. Treatment T2,T3 and T4 gave similar yield. The grain yields of these treatments were higher than those of T1 treatment (soil application of urea only). The T5 also produced the highest straw yield of the crop. The lowest grain yield of 4.72 t ha-1 and the lowest straw yield of 5.17 t ha-1 were recorded with T1 (control).Res. Agric., Livest. Fish.3(1): 79-85, April 2016

An experiment was conducted in the Agriculture Field Laboratory, Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) to evaluate the effects of age of seedlings on the yield and growth performance of transplanted Aus (T. Aus) rice variety from April 2019 to July 2019. The experiment was carried out assigning four age of seedlings (T1 = 22-day old, T2 = 24-day old, T3 = 27-day old, T4 = 30-day old) and two rice varieties (V1 = BRRI dhan83, V2 = BRRI dhan65). The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. In case of variety, the highest plant height (102.108 cm), the highest grain yield (2.643 t/ha), and the highest harvest index (32.317%) were obtained in BRRI dhan83 where the lowest plant height (87.804 cm), the lowest grain yield (2.431 t/ha) and the lowest harvest index (32.068%) were obtained in BRRRI dhan65. The age of seedlings had significantly affected total tillers/hill, effective tillers/hill, panicle length in T. Aus rice variety. The highest plant height (98.16 cm), straw yield (6.122 t/ha), the maximum number of effective tillers/hill (15.347) were obtained in 24 days old seedlings. The highest grain yield (2.634 t/ha) was obtained from 27 days old seedlings, and the highest harvest index (33.88%) was obtained from 22 days old seedlings. The lowest grain yield (2.429) was obtained from 24 days old seedlings, and the lowest panicle length (13.753 cm), harvest index (30.467%), and the minimum number of effective tillers/hill (13.753) were obtained from 30 days old seedlings. The lowest straw yield (5.075 t/ha) and plant height (93.16 cm) were obtained from 22 days old seedlings. In case of interaction, the highest plant height (104.667 cm) and the harvest index (34.86%) were observed in BRRI dhan83 at 27 days old seedlings. The highest straw yield (5.805 t/ha) was observed in BRRI dhan65 at 30 days old seedlings. The maximum number of effective tillers/hill (18.519) was observed in BRRI dhan83 at 24 days old seedlings. The highest grain yield (2.94 t/ha) was observed in BRRI dhan83 at 22 days old seedlings. The lowest plant height (80.67 cm) was observed in BRRI dhan65 at 27 days old seedlings. The minimum number of total tillers/hill (17.01) was observed in BRRI dhan83 at 22 days old seedlings; lowest panicle length (20.78 cm), the minimum number of grains/panicle (68.07) were observed in BRRI dhan65 at 24 days old seedlings; 1000 grains weight (22.76 g), the lowest grain yield (2.18 t/ha) were observed in BRRI dhan83 at 24 days old seedlings; the lowest straw yield (4.54 t/ha) was observed in BRRI dhan65 at 22 days seedlings old and lowest harvest index (29.09%) were observed in BRRI dhan65 at 30 days old seedlings. Based on the above results, it may be concluded that almost all of the yield and yield contributing characters of T. Aus rice performed best under the interaction between age of seedlings 22 days old seedlings and the variety BRRI dhan85.
