La Quebrada Santa Mónica es la fuente con el mayor aporte de agua al embalse la Nitrera, que abastece el consumo al municipio de Concordia, Antioquia; con el objetivo de conocer calidad de agua de la Quebrada y determinar si cumple con los criterios de calidad, se realizó la caracterización fisicoquímica y biológica empleando los macroinvertebrados acuáticos como bioindicadores. En tres estaciones de la quebrada, se tomaron muestras fisicoquímicas e hidrobiológicas durante tres campañas en el año 2017. Los resultados fisicoquímicos presentaron una variación espaciotemporal leve, se pudo determinar que el mes de noviembre se presentó el valor más alto de abundancia y riqueza de macroinvertebrados, siendo Phylloicus el taxa predominante. El índice BWWP/Col estuvo entre 52 y 119. La Quebrada Santa Mónica presenta una buena calidad de agua y la mayoría de los parámetros fisicoquímicos cumplen con la normatividad para ser fuente de abastecimiento de agua potable. The Santa Monica creek is the main source of the Nitrera reservoir, which supplies the drinking water to the municipality of Concordia. To determine the quality of the water in the Creek, and if it accomplish the standards, a physical-chemical and biological characterization was carried out using aquatic macroinvertebrates as bioindicators. Physical-chemical and hydro-biological samples were taken at three stations in the creek during three campaigns in 2017. The physicochemical results presented a slight spatial-temporal variation, and we determined that November presented the highest abundance and richness values of macroinvertebrates, being Phylloicus the predominant taxa. The BWWP/Col index values were between 52 and 119. Santa Mónica Creek has a good water quality, and most of the physical-chemical parameters accomplish the regulations to be a source for drinkable water supply.

Pendahuluan : Air merupakan sumber daya alam yang dilukan untuk hajat hidup orang banyak (Efendi, 2003). Berdasarkan . Men. Kes. No. 492/MENKES//IV/2010, bahwa air minum adalah air yang melalui proses pengolahan atau tanpa pengolahan memenuhi syarat kesehatan dapat langsung diminum. Desa Kukuh, Kecamatan Marga, Kabupaten Tabanan terbagi menjadi 8 banjar dinas, salah satunya adalah banjar dinas Tatag yang menjadi pusat dalam pemanfaatan sumber mata air minum pada wilayah desa tersebut. Metode: Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif tentang uji kelayakan kualitas air berdasarkan parameter kimia dan mikrobiologi dari sumber mata air di Desa Kukuh, Kecamatan Marga, Kabupaten Tabanan. Hasil: Hasil identifikasi kelayakan kualitas air minum yang telah dilakukan sebanyak tiga kali pengujian, yaitu pada bulan (Mei, Juli, September) pada tahun 2018 memberikan hasil: a). Pemeriksaan parameter kimia menunjukkan bahwa seluruh parameter yang diujikan berada pada standar yang dibolehkan, sedangkan b). Pemeriksaan parameter mikrobiologi menunjukkan hasil adanya kandungan bakteri Fecal coli pada sampel mata air dengan jumlah rata-rata 100 Fecal coli/100 mL. Diskusi : Berdasarkan hasil identifikasi pada parameter kimia menunjukkan bahwa hasil identifikasi parameter kimia telah sesuai dengan standar kualitas air minum, sedangkan parameter mikrobiologi belum memenuhi standar kualitas air minum disebabkan adanya kandungan bakteri Fecal coli pada sampel mata air dengan jumlah rata-rata  100 Fecal coli/100 mL. Kata Kunci : Kualitas mata air, Parameter Kimia, Parameter Mikrobiologi.   ABSTRACT Introduction: Water is a natural resource needed for the livelihood of many people. Drinking water is water with or without processing that meet health requirements and can be drunk directly, this is based on . Men Kes No. 492/MENKES//IV/2010. Kukuh Village, Marga District, Tabanan Regency is divided into 8 banjar dinas, one of which is the Banjar Tagtag, which is the center of the utilization of drinking water sources in the village area. Method: The type of research used is a descriptive study of the feasibility of water quality based on chemical and microbiological parameters on water from a spring source in Kukuh Village, Marga District, Tabanan Regency. Results: The results of the identification of the feasibility of drinking water quality that has been carried out three times tn the month of May, July, and September. The results of the identification of chemical and microbiological parameters were  : a). Chemical parameters, showed that all identified parameters are at the missible level. c). Microbiological parameters showed the results of Fecal coli contents in spring samples with and an average number of 100 Fecal coli/100 mL. Discussion: The results of the identification of chemical and microbiological parameters indicated that the identification of chemical parameters were in accordance with drinking water quality standards, while the microbiological parameters did not meet drinking water quality standards, because in the water sample there was the content of Fecal coli bacteria in the spring samples with and average number of 100 Fecal coli/100 mL. Abstract: Groundwater is one of the earth’s most widely distributed and most important natural resources. Groundwater exists, wherever water penetrates beneath the surface. The rocks beneath the surface are permeable enough to transmit water, and at places, the rate of infiltration is so sufficient that the rocks are saturated to an appreciable thickness. This water may be fresh or brackish in quality. As the fresh water constitutes very little quantity of the total water available, we must think as to how best we can exploit it, and utilize it. With the growth of population, today in many of the places water has become a critical source. In many places it is dwindling both in quality and quantity, creating problems for the communities involved. Water Quality Index indicates the quality of drinking water by assessing physical, chemical and biological parameters of water. India had the most studies, with 177 articles, followed by China, Brazil and the United States. This four countries together published 57% of studies on WQI. Groundwater quality implies the level of concentration of different constituents of water which is ultimately described if it is suitable or not for drinking or other purpose such as irrigation. There are mainly three types of constituents or parameters for describing quality of groundwater as physiological, chemical and biological parameters. These parameters are described below: EC ,TDS, K, Na, Ca ,Mg ,TH, Co3, HCO3, Cl, SO4 ,and also we determine some trace element such as Copper (Cu) ,Lead (Pb), Manganese (Mn) ,Nickel (Ni) ,Iron (Fe), Zinc (Zn). Background: Today possibility of rendering water non-potable by various types of contaminants (physical, chemical and biological) is of considerable importance. It is not only the microbial con­taminants but also the physical and chemical contaminants, playing an important role in compro­mising our health in many ways. The aim of this study was to assess the physical, chemical and the microbiological quality of commercially produced bottled water in Pokhara city. Methods: A study was conducted to assess the quality of bottled drinking water produced in Pokhara city. Total of 21 brands of bottled water was collected, first batch in monsoon season and second batch in pre-monsoon season, from the market. The physical, chemical and microbial as­sessment was carried out as per National Drinking Water Quality Standards, 2062. Coefficient of variation and t-test were applied where applicable. Results: Better water quality was found in Pre-monsoon season than that of monsoon season, in regard to microbial assessment. None of the samples in first batch tested positive for coliform whereas in second batch 38.2% of samples tested positive for coliform. Coefficient of variation for pH and chloride content was, 8.9% and 6.1%, 35.6% and24.19%, in pre-monsoon and monsoon season respectively. Both were found to be statistically significant. While other tested parameters were within normal limits. Conclusions: The quality bottled drinking water available for sale do not meet the standards given by National Drinking Water Quality Standards, particularly the microbial quality.

Backgroud: Nowadays, bottled water has become the most substitute water for cooking drinking water. Although bottled water seemed attractive, it is crucial to assess its quality. Objective: This quantitative study aimed to determine the quality of the 5 brands of bottled water circulating in Yogyakarta, in terms of physical parameters (temperature, smell, taste, color, turbidity, and TDS electroconductivity) and chemical parameters of water (pH, the presence of Cl-ions, and the presence of metals such as Cr, Fe, Zn, Cd). Methods: The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The instrument used to determine the quality of bottled water is the standard of drinking water quality standards. Result: The results showed that five samples of bottled water circulating in Yogyakarta, are all qualified bottled water both in terms of physical parameters (temperature, smell, taste, color, turbidity, electroconductivity, and TDS) and chemical parameters of water (pH , the presence of Cl-ions, and the presence of metals such as Cr, Fe, Zn, Cd). Conclusion: Five samples of bottled water circulating in Yogyakarta were suitable for consumption. Keywords: Bottled water, water analysis, water quality, water chemistry parameters

The objectives of this study were to clarify and evaluate the water quality of a number of rivers in East Kalimantan province of Indonesia. For this purpose, our study successfully utilized the benthic macroinvertebrates diversity as well as physical-chemical parameters of river’s water. For instance, based on the values of Average Score per Taxon (ASPT) and the National Sanitation Foundation-Water Quality Index (NSF-WQI), Karang Mumus River was categorized as polluted with Chironomus sp. and Melanoides tuberculata as codominant taxa. In addition, Jembayan River exhibited doubtful or moderate quality containing M. tuberculata and A. parvula as codominant taxa. However, Pampang River was found to be the cleanest river with Odonata and Baetidae families as codominant taxa.

The river is one of the forms of the aquatic ecosystem is open, which is also prone to the existence of a pollution.Pollution that occurs in a river is usually caused by environmental conditions and human activities around the river.The river water Pandayangan is one of the rivers that are widely used by the local community for a variety of activities, namely as a tourist attraction, bathing, washing, and others. This research is a descriptive research that aims to determine the water quality of the river in physics and chemistry of the location of the research based on the raw water quality. Research conducted at three locations and sampling the water for the third observation stations do the measurement of physical parameters such as Temperature, Color, and Turbidity while the chemical parameters include pH, BOD, Ammonia, Nitrite, Organic Number, Alkaliniti and Asiditi. Based on the results of testing the physical and chemical parameters then be concluded that the water quality of the river Pandayangan still meet the quality standards of water quality class B or raw water.

Abstract Water is a social requirement and an important factor in the ecological balance. Water from wells is good for direct consumption if the soil is not contaminated. The quality of drinking water is regulated by Law no. 458/2002 (transposing the Directive 98/83/EC on the quality of drinking water). The aim of this paper was to assess the physicochemical qualities of groundwaters from Brestea village, commune Denta, Timis County. The water samples were taken in 2015 from 10 functional wells. For the source whose physical and chemical parameters have exceeded the limit values, the monthly monitoring of the water quality (microbiological and physico-chemical properties) has been performed for 2 years. At the same time, the pH of the soil near the water sources was also measured. The results highlighted a good connection between the microorganisms from water and the nitrite, nitrate and ammonium content of water. The information can be further used to identify and eliminate the specific pollutants, areas and pollution sources.

In this paper, the authors analyze the drinking water quality of Peshawar city due to which authors concluded that water quality assessment of 18 locations inside Peshawar of various union council. Groundwater samples were collected from a tube well and subjected to physical, chemical and biological analysis to check their suitability for the purpose of drinking. Results exposed that out of 18 samples 10 samples of water were found unfit for drinking purposes. In the 10, samples most of the effect on the water quality was from the chemical and biological contamination. It is concluded that the old defective supply system, infrastructure and storage, as well as their lack of maintenance are the reason behind the pollution of drinking water in Peshawar.

The present study investigated the probable influence of latrines and groundwater flow on the water quality of shallow tube wells in Shinduria village (23?52' N and 90?14' E) of Dhaka district, Bangladesh. A questionnaire survey was made to collect basic information on tube wells and latrines. Four boreholes were drilled to investigate lithostratigraphy. Twenty one water samples were collected and their physico-chemical parameters (Dissolved Oxygen, pH, phosphate, sulphate, nitrate, nitrite and iron) were analyzed using standard method. Total viable bacterial count (TVBC), total coliform count (TCC), total faecal coliform count (TFCC), total salmonella shigella (TSS) and total vibrio count (TVC) were also made using membrane filtration method. Average depth of the tube wells was 120 ft and most of them were less then ten years old. About 85% latrines were ring slab type and about 50% of these were built during the last five years. From borehole data, a shallow aquifer was identified at a depth of hundred feet from where local people extract drinking water. Although most of the physico-chemical parameters of the tested samples were within the Department of Environment (DoE). But almost all of the tested samples failed to ensure the quality of acceptable level for drinking water recommended by World Health Organization (WHO) due to the presence of higher load of TVBC (5.07 × 10³ cfu/100 ml), TCC (8.44 × 103cfu/10 0ml), TFCC (5.16 × 10² cfu/100 ml) and TSS (1.10 × 103cfu/100 ml). Local geological conditions and proximity between tube well and latrine promoted bacterial transport towards tube well while groundwater flow direction from the adjacent Bangshi River influenced the phenomenon.
