This chapter focuses on the expansion of the Jewish press, the development of a lively Jewish art and music scene, and the strengthening of the interfaith movement. It discloses the creation of a wide variety of journals of differing Zionist, literary, and religious orientations that marked an important change in contemporary French Jewish life. It also investigates the journals that served as a vehicle to discuss new developments in the Jewish associational and cultural life of the day and provided a forum to discuss diverse aspects of Jewish culture and history. The chapter discusses the prominence of Jewish artists in the international Ecole de Paris as another important development in Jewish cultural life during the 1920s. It also describes French Jews that formed musical societies and choruses to perform Jewish music, from traditional religious compositions to Yiddish folk songs, in public settings.

AbstractSanskrit and Arabic Vocabulary Domination in Indonesian Absorption. Indonesianderived from Malay, Indonesian but not Malay, Indonesian because it is very differentfrom the Malay language. In the development, the Indonesian language is very muchabsorbed the vocabulary of various languages both foreign languages and regionallanguages . It is an indicator of the vitality of the Malay language, the nature of whichis very easy to accept new developments in adaptation to a modern language. Foreignlanguage vocabulary Indonesian absorbed in development include Sanskrit, thelanguage of India, Tamil, Portuguese, Persians, Chinese, Japanese, Dutch, German,Arabic, and English. While the language of the region include Javanese, Sundanese,Batak language, the language of Minangkabau, Palembang language, the languageof the Bugis, Banjar language, the language of the Papuan languages of Maluku,and others. Referring to the elements of universal culture, which absorbed the vocabularyincludes all the elements, ie the religious system and religious ceremony, and communityorganizations systems, knowledge systems, language, the arts and sports, livelihoodsystems, technologies and equipment, nature and environmental conditions, as well asthe feeling expression and psychosis. In this case the language of Sanskrit and Arabicranks first (9 elements), then the Java language (7 elements), Portuguese (6 elements),Dutch and Parsi (5 elements), English, Tamil, and Chinese (4 elements), as well asother languages relatively low. The height uptake in the vocabulary of the languagerelated to the elements of universal culture showed high intensity of communication,assimilation, acculturation inter-language user is concerned with the people and thenation of Indonesia. Dalam hal ini, bahasaSanskerta dan bahasa Arab menduduki urutan pertama (9 unsur), kemudian bahasaJawa (7 unsur), bahasa Portugis (6 unsur), bahasa Belanda dan Parsi (5 unsur),bahasa Inggris, Tamil, dan Cina (4 unsur), serta bahasa lainnya yang relatif rendah.Tingginya serapan kosakata dari bahasa di atas berkaitan dengan unsur budayauniversal menunjukkan tingginya intensitas komunikasi, asimilasi, akulturasiantarmasyarakat pemakai bahasa yang bersangkutan dengan masyarakat dan bangsaIndonesia. The visualization of organic macromolecules such as proteins, nucleic acids, viruses and virus components has reached its high degree of effectiveness owing to refinements and reliability of instruments and to the invention of methods for enhancing the structure of these materials within the electron image. The latter techniques have been most important because what can be seen depends upon the molecular and atomic character of the object as modified which is rarely evident in the pristine material. Structure may thus be displayed by the arts of positive and negative staining, shadow casting, replication and other techniques. Enhancement of contrast, which delineates bounds of isolated macromolecules has been effected progressively over the years as illustrated in Figs. 1, 2, 3 and 4 by these methods. We now look to the future wondering what other visions are waiting to be seen. The instrument designers will need to exact from the arts of fabrication the performance that theory has prescribed as well as methods for phase and interference contrast with explorations of the potentialities of very high and very low voltages. Chemistry must play an increasingly important part in future progress by providing specific stain molecules of high visibility, substrates of vanishing “noise” level and means for preservation of molecular structures that usually exist in a solvated condition.

Heterogeneous catalysts can be of varying complexity ranging from single or double phase systems to complicated mixtures of metals and oxides with additives to help promote chemical reactions, extend the life of the catalysts, prevent poisoning etc. Although catalysis occurs on the surface of most systems, detailed descriptions of the microstructure and chemistry of catalysts can be helpful for developing an understanding of the mechanism by which a catalyst facilitates a reaction. Recent years have seen continued development and improvement of various TEM, STEM and AEM techniques for yielding information on the structure and chemistry of catalysts on the nanometer scale. Here we review some quantitative approaches to catalyst characterization that have resulted from new developments in instrumentation.HREM has been used to examine structural features of catalysts often by employing profile imaging techniques to study atomic details on the surface. Digital recording techniques employing slow-scan CCD cameras have facilitated the use of low-dose imaging in zeolite structure analysis and electron crystallography. Fig. la shows a low-dose image from SSZ-33 zeolite revealing the presence of a stacking fault.

Despite advances in surgical management, it is estimated that 20–30% of children with repaired cleft palate will continue to have hypernasal speech and require a second surgery to create normal velopharyngeal function (Bricknell, McFadden, & Curran, 2002; Härtel, Karsten, & Gundlach, 1994; McWilliams, 1990). A qualitative perceptual assessment by a speech-language pathologist is considered the most important step of the evaluation for children with resonance disorders (Peterson-Falzone, Hardin-Jones, & Karnell, 2010). Direct and indirect instrumental analyses should be used to confirm or validate the perceptual evaluation of an experienced speech-language pathologist (Paal, Reulbach, Strobel-Schwarthoff, Nkenke, & Schuster, 2005). The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of current instrumental assessment methods used in cleft palate care. Both direct and indirect instrumental procedures will be reviewed with descriptions of the advantages and disadvantages of each. Lastly, new developments for evaluating velopharyngeal structures and function will be provided.

Die Transplantation hämatopoietischer Stammzellen umfasst heute Stammzellen aus Knochenmark, peripherem Blut oder Nabelschnurblut. Leukämien, Lymphoproliferative Erkrankungen, aplastische Anämie und schwere angeborene Erkrankungen des Knochenmarkes sind Hauptindikationen für allogene, lymphoproliferative Erkrankungen, Leukämien, solide Tumoren und schwere Autoimmunkrankheiten Hauptindikationen für autologe Transplantationen. Neue Verfahren wie reduzierte Konditionierung und selektive Gabe von Spenderlymphozyten eröffnen die Stammzelltransplantation auch für ältere Patienten und für solche mit vorbestehender Komorbidität. Wenn immer möglich, wird die Transplantation ab Diagnose in den Behandlungsplan integriert. Die Wahl des Verfahrens und des geeigneten Zeitpunktes wird nach individuellem Risikoprofil erstellt. Alter oder Diagnose sind nicht mehr alleinige Entscheidungskriterien. Als etablierte Therapieform dürfte die hämatopoietische Stammzelltransplantation als Modell dienen für Stammzelltransplantationen auch anderer Organe.
