The development of information and communication technologies offers innovative opportunities to establish business strategies focused on customer value co-creation. This situation is especially notable in the banking industry. e-Banking activities can support competitive advantages. However, the adoption of e-banking is not yet well-established among consumers. In this sense, the technology acceptance model (TAM) is considered essential in studying consumer behavior applied to adopt a particular technology. According to the TAM model, this study analyses the factors which influence bank customers to adopt e-banking to facilitate their banking services and support the process of value co-creation. Consequently, the authors examine five main aspects of the technology adoption model to provide a broad understanding of bank customers’ consumption of e-banking. A partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis is conducted to evaluate proposed relationships between factors and customers’ e-banking adoption.

Purpose Crowdfunding has become one of the preferred mechanisms to raise funds by startups and small entrepreneurs. As such, this paper aims to develop an appropriate framework for Sharīʿah-compliant equity-based crowdfunding (SEC) for entrepreneurship development in Malaysia. Design/methodology/approach The research begins by analyzing the intention of 200 entrepreneurs in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor regarding the use of crowdfunding to raise capital. The analysis is based on the theory of reasoned action (TRA), which is also associated with the technology acceptance model (TAM) and is effected by using structural equation modeling (SEM). Findings The entrepreneurs agree on the ease of use of crowdfunding in raising capital, although it appeared that they are quite reluctant to share their business ideas online. Subsequently, an SEC framework is proposed, to further enhance entrepreneurship development in Malaysia particularly in meeting the need for raising funds in line with Sharīʿah (Islamic law) principles. Practical implications This paper aims to contribute more to the development of a blueprint for an SEC platform for market players and regulators in Malaysia. Social implications This paper also aims to highlight the growing needs of entrepreneurs, particularly in Malaysia to have a Sharīʿah-compliant alternative to raise funds via crowdfunding. Originality/value This paper makes two main contributions. First, it provides evidence on Malaysian entrepreneurs’ intention to use crowdfunding for fundraising through TAM and SEM analysis. Second, it proposes an SEC framework for the development of entrepreneurs in Malaysia.

The use of e-training in healthcare has experienced considerable growth. The results of this study provide insights regarding the importance of technology compatibility attributes to behavioral intentions to continue the use of e-training by healthcare professionals. A model based on the technology acceptance literature has been used. The model adds the construct of healthcare practice compatibility to the Technology Acceptance Model as a predictor of behavioral intention to continued use of e-training by healthcare professionals. Using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), findings suggest that perceived practice compatibility, perceived workflow compatibility, and perceived task compatibility in e-training are essential to healthcare professionals' intent to continue use of e-training. The parsimonious model in this study is a more predictive model than the basic TAM model in explaining users' intentions to continue use of e-training.

Smart home services (SHSs) afford users an effective lifestyle management system, which provides human-oriented networking of smart devices and applications that enable users to control their homes from anywhere at any time. Despite the benefits of SHSs, however, their acceptance is very low. There remains a gap in the literature in terms of a comprehensive model that addresses users’ intention to use SHSs. To address this gap, the present study explored the factors that influence SHS acceptance among users based on well-established theoretical frameworks, such as the technology acceptance model, innovation diffusion theory, and the theory of planned behavior. To this end, the study integrated four additional factors, namely, perceived convenience, perceived connectedness, perceived cost, and perceived privacy risk, into the exploration and carried out structural equation modeling to quantitatively determine the effects of these factors. Questionnaires were administered to 750 users. The findings indicated that perceived compatibility, perceived convenience, perceived connectedness, perceived cost, perceived behavioral control with perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use directly and indirectly exerted a significant influence on users’ intention to use SHSs.

This study aims to investigate youth consumer's perception and intention towards online shopping through integration of technological acceptance model (TAM). Data were collected from 263 young people residing in Bhubaneswar city of Odisha, a state in the eastern region of India through a structured questionnaire during May/June 2015. The structural Equation modeling was employed to analyze the data and validate the research model. The results of this study indicated that different perception variables have different relationships with behavioral intention of youths towards online shopping. The results from this study will be useful for e-commerce companies in formulating appropriate marketing strategies, as well as developing appropriate applications that will attract more consumers by increasing their benefit perception. This study is confined to the response of 263 young people residing in Bhubaneswar city of Odisha. In future of similar types of study may be conducted in either part of the state as well as country with a relatively larger sample size including customers from different age groups. Although past literatures have focused on technological aspects of online shopping, few studies have examined the perception and intention of youth towards online shopping. Furthermore, most studies on online shopping perception have focused on the relationships between technology adoption factors and perception of users. This study provides a basis for further refinement of TAM model to predict behavioral intentions of consumers towards online shopping.
