Artificial intelligence (AI) and extended reality (XR) differ in their origin and primary objectives. However, their combination is emerging as a powerful tool for addressing prominent AI and XR challenges and opportunities for cross-development. To investigate the AI-XR combination, we mapped and analyzed published articles through a multi-stage screening strategy. We identified the main applications of the AI-XR combination, including autonomous cars, robotics, military, medical training, cancer diagnosis, entertainment, and gaming applications, advanced visualization methods, smart homes, affective computing, and driver education and training. In addition, we found that the primary motivation for developing the AI-XR applications include 1) training AI, 2) conferring intelligence on XR, and 3) interpreting XR- generated data. Finally, our results highlight the advancements and future perspectives of the AI-XR combination.

Subject. The article discusses how management transforms as artificial intelligence gets more important in governance, production and social life. Objectives. We identify and substantiate trends in management transformation as artificial intelligence evolves and gets more important in governance, production and social life. The article also provides our suggestions for management and training of managers dealing with artificial intelligence. Methods. The study employs methods of logic research, analysis and synthesis through the systems and creative approach, methodology of technological waves. Results. We analyzed the scope of management as is and found that threats and global challenges escalate due to the advent of artificial intelligence. We provide the rationale for recognizing the strategic culture as the self-organizing system of business process integration. We suggest and substantiate the concept of soft power with reference to strategic culture, which should be raised, inter alia, through the scientific school of conflict studies. We give our recommendations on how management and training of managers should be improved in dealing with artificial intelligence as it evolves. The novelty hereof is that we trace trends in management transformation as the role of artificial intelligence evolves and growth in governance, production and social life. Conclusions and Relevance. Generic solutions are not very effective for the Russian management practice during the transition to the sixth and seventh waves of innovation. Any programming product represents artificial intelligence, which simulates a personality very well, though unable to substitute a manager in motivating, governing and interacting with people.

Background:: The utilization of genetic data to investigate biological problems has recently become a vital approach. However, it is undeniable that the heterogeneity of original samples at the biological level is usually ignored when utilizing genetic data. Different cell-constitutions of a sample could differentiate the expression profile, and set considerable biases for downstream research. Matrix factorization (MF) which originated as a set of mathematical methods, has contributed massively to deconvoluting genetic profiles in silico, especially at the expression level. Objective: With the development of artificial intelligence algorithms and machine learning, the number of computational methods for solving heterogeneous problems is also rapidly abundant. However, a structural view from the angle of using MF to deconvolute genetic data is quite limited. This study was conducted to review the usages of MF methods on heterogeneous problems of genetic data on expression level. Methods: MF methods involved in deconvolution were reviewed according to their individual strengths. The demonstration is presented separately into three sections: application scenarios, method categories and summarization for tools. Specifically, application scenarios defined deconvoluting problem with applying scenarios. Method categories summarized MF algorithms contributed to different scenarios. Summarization for tools listed functions and developed web-servers over the latest decade. Additionally, challenges and opportunities of relative fields are discussed. Results and Conclusion: Based on the investigation, this study aims to present a relatively global picture to assist researchers to achieve a quicker access of deconvoluting genetic data in silico, further to help researchers in selecting suitable MF methods based on the different scenarios.

With an increased number of medical data generated every day, there is a strong need for reliable, automated evaluation tools. With high hopes and expectations, machine learning has the potential to revolutionize many fields of medicine, helping to make faster and more correct decisions and improving current standards of treatment. Today, machines can analyze, learn, communicate, and understand processed data and are used in health care increasingly. This review explains different models and the general process of machine learning and training the algorithms. Furthermore, it summarizes the most useful machine learning applications and tools in different branches of medicine and health care (radiology, pathology, pharmacology, infectious diseases, personalized decision making, and many others). The review also addresses the futuristic prospects and threats of applying artificial intelligence as an advanced, automated medicine tool.

Abstract Affective computing is a key research topic in artificial intelligence which is applied to psychology and machines. It consists of the estimation and measurement of human emotions. A person’s body language is one of the most significant sources of information during job interview, and it reflects a deep psychological state that is often missing from other data sources. In our work, we combine two tasks of pose estimation and emotion classification for emotional body gesture recognition to propose a deep multi-stage architecture that is able to deal with both tasks. Our deep pose decoding method detects and tracks the candidate’s skeleton in a video using a combination of depthwise convolutional network and detection-based method for 2D pose reconstruction. Moreover, we propose a representation technique based on the superposition of skeletons to generate for each video sequence a single image synthesizing the different poses of the subject. We call this image: ‘history pose image’, and it is used as input to the convolutional neural network model based on the Visual Geometry Group architecture. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our method in comparison with other methods in the state of the art on the standard Common Object in Context keypoint dataset and Face and Body gesture video database.

Esophageal cancer (EC) is the seventh most common cancer and the sixth cause of cancer death worldwide. Histologically, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) account for up to 90% and 20% of all ECs, respectively. Clinical symptoms such as dysphagia, odynophagia, and bolus impaction occur late in the natural history of the disease, and the diagnosis is often delayed. The prognosis of ESCC and EAC is poor in advanced stages, being survival rates less than 20% at five years. However, when the diagnosis is achieved early, curative treatment is possible, and survival exceeds 80%. For these reasons, mass screening strategies for EC are highly desirable, and several options are currently under investigation. Blood biomarkers offer an inexpensive, non-invasive screening strategy for cancers, and novel technologies have allowed the identification of candidate markers for EC. The esophagus is easily accessible via endoscopy, and endoscopic imaging represents the gold standard for cancer surveillance. However, lesion recognition during endoscopic procedures is hampered by interobserver variability. To fill this gap, artificial intelligence (AI) has recently been explored and provided encouraging results. In this review, we provide a summary of currently available options to achieve early diagnosis of EC, focusing on blood biomarkers, advanced endoscopy, and AI.

But, with these advancements also comes something called “future shock”.Practical implicationsFuture shock is the state of being unable to keep up with rapid social or technological change. As a result, the topic of artificial intelligence, and thus autonomous cars, is highly debated.Social implicationsThe study will be of interest to researchers, academics and the public in general.
