Changes in underground environments have been predicted by investigating underground bedrock conditions and analyzing the shapes of discontinuities in the rocks. The most commonly used method is to drill a borehole, insert a camera inside and capture the wall of the borehole in a photograph to investigate the discontinuities. However, if the images of the borehole cannot be captured, the characteristics of the discontinuities in the bedrock are analyzed by capturing the drilling cores in photographs. In this case, considerable time is required to analyze the drilling cores with the naked eye and measure the attitudes of the discontinuities developed in the cores in detail. Moreover, the results may vary depending on the researcher’s perspective. To overcome these limitations, this study develops a program for analyzing photographs of drilling cores. The program can automatically identify discontinuities in drilling cores and measure the attitudes through linear fitting using only drilling core photographs. In addition, we apply the program to practical field data to verify its applicability. We found that the program could provide more accurate and objective information on drilling cores than the currently used method and could more effectively organize the characteristics of fractures in the study area.

We have designed a periodically varying code that can avoid the problem of the local coherency and make the interference distribute uniformly in a given range; hence, it was better at suppressing incoherent interference (blending noise) and preserving coherent useful signals compared with a random dithering code. We have also devised a new form of the iterative method to remove interference generated from the simultaneous source acquisition. In each iteration, we have estimated the interference using the blending operator following the proposed formula and then subtracted the interference from the pseudodeblended data. To further eliminate the incoherent interference and constrain the inversion, the data were then transformed to an auxiliary sparse domain for applying a thresholding operator. During the iterations, the threshold was decreased from the largest value to zero following an exponential function. The exponentially decreasing threshold aimed to gradually pass the deblended data to a more acceptable model subspace. Two numerically blended synthetic data sets and one numerically blended practical field data set from an ocean bottom cable were used to demonstrate the usefulness of our proposed method and the better performance of the periodically varying code over the traditional random dithering code.

Over the past year I have done all of my work as an anthropologist in an electronic office. This work includes analyzing complex field data, designing data gathering forms, writing articles for publication, illustrating the articles with various diagrams, lecturing, grading papers, consulting, and carrying on the usual correspondence of a university professor. Before I first sat down in this electronic office on the day that I got a Macintosh 512K computer through my department, I spent considerable time reading computer journals and reviews of programs, learning to use the programs that seemed promising to me, evaluating their potential for a university anthropologist, and then designing the electronic office to aid me in performing all my usual tasks as well as some of my less usual but troublesome tasks.

The state of long-range order (LRO) and short-range order (SRO) in Ni4Mo has been a topic of interest for a considerable time (see Brooks et al.). The SRO is often referred to as 1½0 order from the apparent position of the diffuse maxima in diffraction patterns, which differs from the positions of the LRO (D1a) structure. Various studies have shown that a fully disordered state cannot be retained by quenching, as the atomic arrangements responsible for the 1½0 maxima are present at temperatures above the critical ordering temperature for LRO. Over 20 studies have attempted to identify the atomic arrangements associated with this state of order. A variety of models have been proposed, but no consensus has been reached. It has also been shown that 1 MeV electron irradiation at low temperatures (∼100 K) can produce the disordered phase in Ni4Mo. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atom probe field ion microscopy (APFIM), and electron irradiation disordering have been applied in the current study to further the understanding of the ordering processes in Ni4Mo.

SummaryIt has been suggested that human platelets possess the ability to phagocytose particulate matter similar to the polymorphonuclear leukocyte. However some difference of opinion has arisen regarding this contention, particularly as differences have been demonstrated with regard to the observed metabolic changes occurring in platelets related to such a process. The experiments reported in this paper were designed to observe the aerobic and anaerobic metabolism in human platelets during and following interiorization of two different particles, viz. polystyrene latex and thorotrast. The results of these experiments show a marked difference between both types of particles with regard to observable metabolic changes despite the rapid interiorization of both types of material. Some alteration occurs in both aerobic and anaerobic metabolism a considerable time after interiorization of latex, whereas no alteration could be demonstrated after interiorization of thorotrast. It is suggested that the interiorization of particulate matter is by some process other than phagocytosis and that observed metabolic changes related to latex may be due to a release reaction.

Regulation of the financial services authority (OJK) No. 31/POJK.05/2016 on Venture had arranged that the financial services agency on the basis of the law of pledge is in coaching and supervision OJK. Yet the existence of laws – invitation to Governing Enterprise pawn shops causing business activities conducted by the above parties are not yet regulated. The condition is feared could cause harm to the consumer society. The purpose of this research is to know the procedures, mechanisms, protection of goods and guarantee the consumer on an informal pledge financing, methods of determination of the cost of maintenance of the goods and the goods of the execution mechanism of the pledge as well as protection for the collateral items are viewed from the side of the consumer by looking at laws-invitations and Sharia. To find out whether the pledge have gotten permission from OJK. This research uses qualitative research methods with the study of library research, field data and simulations. The approach used in this study is the empirical juridical approach. Elaboration upon the results is discussed further in this article.
