The normative functioning of the stomatognathic system and masticatory apparatus requires specific coordination between several structures such as teeth with good occlusion, tongue without ankyloglossia or thrusting, and well-balanced facial muscles. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of non-normative primary functions such as breathing, swallowing, biting and chewing on the consonant pronunciation outcome in adults affected with facial skeletal deformities. Moreover, the authors would like to promote a new kind of speech therapy-orthognathic speech therapy. A total of 181 adults affected by skeletal class II and III malocclusion were included, along with the relationship between the malocclusion, speech deficiency (20 phonemes tested) and primary function disorders, in the subjects before and after surgical correction. The impact of surgery on pronunciation and primary function improvement and types of Polish phonemes most often misarticulated by Polish adults were also examined. Patients underwent combined treatment and received a full speech pathology examination. The treatment improved speech (p < 0.05), and primary functions (p < 0.05). Palatal, alveolar (p < 0.05), fricatives (p < 0.05), and labiodental consonant pronunciation (p < 0.05) improved. The surgical correction of malocclusion leads to better oral motor control and articulation of Polish consonants in adults.

Orthodontists correct dental malocclusion, but major facial skeleton deformations (skeletal malocclusion) are often subject to surgical correction. Several speech pathologies are associated with both of the occlusal anomalies mentioned above. The majority of articulation disorders and primary functions cannot be improved without skeletal correction. This study aimed to investigate the outcome of the multimodal and logopaedics treatment of Polish adults affected by skeletal malocclusion and speech-language pathology. A total of 37 adults affected by skeletal Class II and III malocclusion were included, along with the relationship between the malocclusion and speech deficiency (20 phonemes tested) in the subjects before and after surgical correction. The impact of surgery on pronunciation improvement and types of Polish phonemes most often misarticulated by Polish adults were also examined. Patients underwent combined treatment and received a full speech pathology examination. The treatment improved speech (p < 0.05), but the study did not prove that a specific surgery type was associated with pronunciation improvement. Some patients were provided with speech therapy during childhood, yet most had some minor difficulties with lip and tongue movements. Palatal, alveolar (p < 0.05), fricatives (p < 0.05), and labiodental consonant pronunciation (p < 0.05) improved. The surgical correction of malocclusion leads to better articulation of Polish consonants in adults and improves some primary functions.

Speech disorders are in almost all speech pathology accompanied by a symptom. They usually occur during speech development. Baby. First TV describes itself as a provider of shows 'designed to inspire a baby's learning'. However, if a child is presented to a continental strangling program that does not serve the mother tongue, it can have a lot of difficulty in shaping the language of her speech and not understanding the words and sentences of her parents and the environment. The subjects in this study carried out the following diagnostic tests: pedagogical-psychological examination, logaoedic examination, and neurological examination. The results research shows that besides the worse results on non-verbal intelligence tests, children who were exposed to the influence of Baby-TV from their 2 to 4-year-olds have achieved worse results on nonverbal tests as well as children whose parents included the Baby-TV program of 9 months to the gosling of the day. They say the worst German letters such as ß, R, Ö, Ä, Ü and do not associate German spoken words with the environment. The aim of this research was to examine the negative influence of BABY TV on the speech of children with age child, sex, nonverbal, verbal abilities, and development scale of understanding speech. The ability to speak and understand speech in relation to Reynell was also explored development scale of speech. Average and below-average values were obtained.

The purpose of this article is to present speech disorders of 91 years old patient suffering from advanced Parkinson’s disease (it is the last stage of the disease when all symptoms are stronger) and to draw attention to the need of mentioning the impact of speech therapy while describing the disease. In the article an author is introducing the patient and her current condition. Mainly it is focused on the speech therapy diagnosis that was based on particular aspects of speech (such as: general condition of the patient, phonation, comprehension of speech and naming, repea- ting, dialogues and storytelling, reading, counting and writing). In the final part, the effectiveness of speech therapy is presented. This publication might become  a leading example for other speech therapist on how to manage the therapy for people suffering from these types of disorders in speaking and communication.

Based on Russian and foreign sources in the field of medicine, psychology and speech therapy, an overview of the main approaches to the systematization of speech disorders in childhood is conducted. It is shown that despite the long and winding path of research, there are numerous descriptions of phenomenology, but there is no consensus about the nature and mechanisms of speech disorders in children. Currently, there are two main directions in the study of speech pathology in children: clinical and psycholinguistic. In a clinical approach, impaired speech is considered as a pathological condition with certain symptoms, etiology and pathogenesis. Psycholinguistic approach to speech pathology involves the correlation of the observed violation with the normal functioning of the processes of generation and perception of speech, as well as an assessment of the degree of formation of language ability. As a result, the analysis of clinical, psychological and psycholinguistic studies shows a lot of contradictions, pushing for an active search for more accurate nominations and differential diagnostic criteria for distinguishing between different states of a child’s speech deficiency. Thus, a tendency is shown to move to a new level of professional reflection from a narrowly focused (clinical, speech therapy, psychological) to a systemic one, in which the focus of scientists will be not only the problem of determining the disadaptive development, but also the prospects for the mental and speech development of the child.

Speech pathology is a scientific study of speech disorders. In this field, the study also analyzes and evaluates language abilities for the purpose of improving speech and hearing. Speech therapy first performs evaluation of speech ability, which is expensive. In order to solve this problem, software methodologies have been applied to language analysis, but most of them have been applied to only part of the whole process. In this study, the degree of language development is judged by determining the age group of the speaker (Pre-school children, Elementary school, Middle and high school, Adults, and Senior citizen) using deep learning and simple statistics. We use transcription data from the counseling contents and multi-kernel CNN model. At this time, in order to understand the characteristics of Korean language belonging agglutinative languages, experiments are carried out in words, morphemes, characters, jam, and Jamo with POS tag-level. And we analyze the distribution of the results for each sentence of the speakers to predict their age groups and to check the degree of language development. The proposed model shows an average accuracy of about 74.6 %.

Introduction: The maxillomandibular lateral growth imbalance with mandibular retrusion related to the maxilla indicates the skeletal Class II pattern. This craniofacial morphological abnormality is often attributed to nasorespiratory obstruction due to pharyngeal and palatine tonsils hypertrophy. The adenotonsillectomy is indicated to young patients with respiratory obstruction. However, there is no information in the scientific literature concerning the impact of tonsils surgically removal on craniofacial growth and development. Objective: To identify the association between adenotonsillectomy and skeletal Class II. Material and Methods: An unpaired case-control study was performed. Adult subjects who agreed to participate filled a questionnaire and after identification of the skeletal pattern through radiographic cephalometric analysis were allocated into two groups: CASE GROUP composed of 23 subjects with skeletal Class II malocclusion and CONTROL GROUP composed of 27 subjects without skeletal Class II malocclusion. With specific software the images were evaluated and measured to compare craniofacial measurements between the experimental groups and this data was interpreted to verify the association between skeletal Class II and the occurrence of adenotonsillectomy in early childhood. Results: the adenotonsillectomy demonstrated protective potential for skeletal Class II development due to a strong epidemiological association between adenotonsillectomy and skeletal Class II anteroposterior discrepancy (ORC = 0.33), without gender interference (ORA = 0.91). Conclusions: Among the long-term benefits of performing adenotonsillectomy in early childhood, it may be considered the prevention of craniofacial growth alterations such as Class II maxillomandibular discrepancy.
