Online reviews about the purchase of products or services provided have become the main source of users’ opinions. In order to gain profit or fame, usually spam reviews are written to promote or demote a few target products or services. This practice is known as review spamming. In the past few years, a variety of methods have been suggested in order to solve the issue of spam reviews. In this study, the researchers carry out a comprehensive review of existing studies on spam review detection using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Overall, 76 existing studies are reviewed and analyzed. The researchers evaluated the studies based on how features are extracted from review datasets and different methods and techniques that are employed to solve the review spam detection problem. Moreover, this study analyzes different metrics that are used for the evaluation of the review spam detection methods. This literature review identified two major feature extraction techniques and two different approaches to review spam detection. In addition, this study has identified different performance metrics that are commonly used to evaluate the accuracy of the review spam detection models. Lastly, this work presents an overall discussion about different feature extraction approaches from review datasets, the proposed taxonomy of spam review detection approaches, evaluation measures, and publicly available review datasets. Research gaps and future directions in the domain of spam review detection are also presented. This research identified that success factors of any review spam detection method have interdependencies. The feature’s extraction depends upon the review dataset, and the accuracy of review spam detection methods is dependent upon the selection of the feature engineering approach. Therefore, for the successful implementation of the spam review detection model and to achieve better accuracy, these factors are required to be considered in accordance with each other. To the best of the researchers’ knowledge, this is the first comprehensive review of existing studies in the domain of spam review detection using SLR process.

A wireless sensor network (WSN) is defined as a set of spatially distributed and interconnected sensor nodes. WSNs allow one to monitor and recognize environmental phenomena such as soil moisture, air pollution, and health data. Because of the very limited resources available in sensors, the collected data from WSNs are often characterized as unreliable or uncertain. However, applications using WSNs demand precise readings, and uncertainty in data reading can cause serious damage (e.g., health monitoring data). Therefore, an efficient local/distributed data processing algorithm is needed to ensure: (1) the extraction of precise and reliable values from noisy readings; (2) the detection of anomalies from data reported by sensors; and (3) the identification of outlier sensors in a WSN. Several works have been conducted to achieve these objectives using several techniques such as machine learning algorithms, mathematical modeling, and clustering. The purpose of this paper is to conduct a systematic literature review to report the available works on outlier and anomaly detection in WSNs. The paper highlights works conducted from January 2004 to October 2018. A total of 3520 papers are reviewed in the initial search process. Later, these papers are filtered by title, abstract, and contents, and a total of 117 papers are selected. These papers are examined to answer the defined research questions. The current paper presents an improved taxonomy of outlier detection techniques. This will help researchers and practitioners to find the most relevant and recent studies related to outlier detection in WSNs. Finally, the paper identifies existing gaps that future studies can fill.

The potential of academic entrepreneurship towards achieving sustainable development has been established. Likewise, sustainability is an inherent characteristic of the bioeconomy. Academics are expected to play significant roles in the successful implementation of bioeconomy through scientific research and entrepreneurship. This chapter takes academic entrepreneurship as a process that creates value from research and technology commercialisation in a bioeconomy towards achieving sustainable development in the society. The chapter employs a systematic literature review approach to identify the opportunities at the intersection of academic entrepreneurship, bioeconomy, and sustainable development. The framework of technological innovation systems (TIS) will guide this study. The chapter will conclude that the future of sustainable development in our resources-constrained planet lies in plethora of academic entrepreneurial opportunities and embracing such in the implementation of bioeconomy, an economic system that is viable for the future.

This study provides a systematic literature review on the balanced scorecard (BSC), highlights gaps in the literature and identifies areas for further research. We review a sample of 114 BSC articles published in 14 accounting and 56 management journals between 1992 and 2021. Each article must either be in the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC), Scopus-indexed or Academic Journal Guide (AJG) list, or receive at least 100 citations, as reported by Google Scholar. We separate the BSC literature into 11 major themes, examine the research methods, statistical tools used and identify the country affiliated with the authors. Companies typically use the BSC as a performance measurement system instead of a management control system. The BSC is more compatible with private versus public sector organizations. Successful implementation of the BSC requires support from the top management and effective communication and coordination. Additionally, a cause-and-effect relationship should exist among its four perspectives—customers, internal business, innovation and learning, and financial. BSC’s critics question its superiority over other performance measurement tools. But the number of supporters is much higher than the opponents. Articles mainly focus on developed, not developing, countries and tend to be conceptual papers rather than data-based empirical studies. The most commonly used statistical tool used is regression analysis. Our review of BSC articles provides insights about BSC strategy, implementation, execution and control that should be of interest to researchers and managers. However, this qualitative study uses judgment to identify BSC themes.

Blockchain is treated as a ledger system that manages data and their transactions using time-stamped blocks through cryptography and works in a decentralised manner over the computing network. Although blockchain is originally used as a backbone for the cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, its capabilities and applications have yet to be extended far beyond cryptocurrencies. In this paper, through conducting a latest systematic literature review aiming to produce new source of evidence, we identify potential applications of the blockchain technologies in healthcare. The comprehensive review looks at the professional and academic open-sourced journals published between 2008 to 2019 to recognise the potential of blockchain based approaches in the purpose of healthcare information disseminations, as well as to segregate issues for the implementation and development of blockchain applications. We identify several major application domains that present research opportunities and challenges for the future advancements and directions for the benefits of IS researchers and professionals.

The concern about the production of international standards to measure the sustainability of tourism is present today, especially the discourse on the introduction of new sources. This article aims to survey and describe the main approaches and methodologies to use big data to measure tourism sustainability. Successful cases are addressed by explaining the main opportunities and challenges for the creation of official tourist statistics. A comprehensive review of publications regarding this field was carried out by applying the systematic literature review technique. This contributes a knowledge base to destination management organisations to encourage the implementation of official tourism statistics systems using big data.
