In recent years, many scholars have dedicated their research to the development of low-cost sensors for monitoring of various parameters. Despite their high number of applications, the state of the art related to low-cost sensors in building monitoring has not been addressed. To fill this gap, this article presents a systematic review, following well-established methodology, to analyze the state of the art in two aspects of structural and indoor parameters of buildings, in the SCOPUS database. This analysis allows to illustrate the potential uses of low-cost sensors in the building sector and addresses the scholars the preferred communication protocols and the most common microcontrollers for installation of low-cost monitoring systems. In addition, special attention is paid to describe different areas of the two mentioned fields of building monitoring and the most crucial parameters to be monitored in buildings. Finally, the deficiencies in line with limited number of studies carried out in various fields of building monitoring are overviewed and a series of parameters that ought to be studied in the future are proposed.

The purpose of this study is to analyze and synthesize the recent research related to nationwide MOOC initiativesin Malaysian higher education that have been published from 2014 to 2018 in order to gain an overview of the growth ofMOOC in Malaysia and to identify the issues facing implementation of nationwide MOOC initiatives in the Malaysian highereducation context. This study utilized a descriptive systematic literature review (SLR) approach using systematic contentanalysis techniques to compile and analyze publications related to nationwide MOOC initiatives in the Malaysian highereducation system. The 25 MOOC studies reviewed are categorized into three sections: Malaysia MOOC, followed by asummary of researches relevant to Malaysia MOOC and finally, issues of the nationwide MOOC implementation in Malaysia.Several recommendations are provided to expand MOOC’s nationwide initiative in Malaysian higher education systems. Thesignificance of the paper is twofold: (a) to inform researchers, designers, and teachers, about the state of the art ofnationwide MOOC initiative in Malaysia; (b) to provide suggestions for adapting the nationwide MOOC initiative in Malaysianhigher education system and other countries sharing similar interests in institutionalizing their MOOC.

In this chapter, we discuss the importance of evaluating the usability of mobile applications using tools and technics that consider their specific characteristics. One common way to evaluate usability is using heuristics. However, since many assumptions regarding usability of computer applications are not true for mobile applications, a question arises: does there exist usability heuristics specific for this type of device? To answer this question, we conducted a systematic literature review. We mapped the encountered sets of heuristics to Nielsen's ten heuristics and identified additional ones specifically proposed for this kind of device. Our review indicates that research with respect to usability heuristics for mobile phones are still sparse. Nevertheless, this chapter provides an overview on the state of the art that can guide the design and evaluation of interfaces for mobile applications as well as provide a starting point for the evolution of such customized heuristics.

PurposeIndustry 4.0, artificial intelligence and digitalization have got a momentum in health care. However, scholars and practitioners do not agree on their implications on health services' quality and effectiveness. The article aims at shedding light on the applications, aftermaths and drawbacks of industry 4.0 in health care, summarizing the state of the art.Design/methodology/approachA systematic literature review was undertaken. We arranged an ad hoc research design, which was tailored to the study purposes. Three citation databases were queried. We collected 1,194 scientific papers which were carefully considered for inclusion in this systematic literature review. After three rounds of analysis, 40 papers were taken into consideration.FindingsIndustry 4.0, artificial intelligence and digitalization are revolutionizing the design and the delivery of care. They are expected to enhance health services' quality and effectiveness, paving the way for more direct patient–provider relationships. In addition, they have been argued to allow a more appropriate use of available resources. There is a dark side of health care 4.0 involving both management and ethical issues.Research limitations/implicationsIndustry 4.0 in health care should not be conceived as a self-nourishing innovation; rather, it needs to be carefully steered at both the policy and management levels. On the one hand, comprehensive governance models are required to realize the full potential of health 4.0. On the other hand, the drawbacks of industry 4.0 should be timely recognized and thoroughly addressed.Originality/valueThe article contextualizes the state of the art of industry 4.0 in the health care context, providing some insights for further conceptual and empirical developments.

In this era of technology, people rely on online posted reviews before buying any product. These reviews are very important for both the consumers and people. Consumers and people use this information for decision making while buying products or investing money in any product. This has inclined the spammers to generate spam or fake reviews so that they can recommend their products and beat the competitors. Spammers have developed many systems to generate the bulk of spam reviews within hours. Many techniques, strategies have been designed and recommended to resolve the issue of spam reviews. In this paper, a complete review of existing techniques and strategies for detecting spam review is discussed. Apart from reviewing the state-of-the-art research studies on spam review detection, a taxonomy on techniques of machine learning for spam review detection has been proposed. Moreover, its focus on research gaps and future recommendations for spam review identification.

Blockchain is one of the latest technologies attracting increasing attention from different actors in diverse fields, including the educational sector. The objective of this study is to offer an overview of the current state of the art related to blockchain in education that may serve as a reference for future initiatives in this field. For this, a systematic review of reference journals was carried out. Eleven databases were systematically searched and eligible papers that focused on blockchain in education that made significant contributions, and not only generic statements about the topic, were selected. As a result, 28 articles were analyzed. Lack of precision, and selection and analysis bias were then minimized by involving three researchers. The analysis of the selected papers provided invaluable insight and answered the research questions posed about the current state of the application of blockchain in education, about which of its characteristics can benefit this sector, and about the challenges that must be addressed. Blockchain may become a relevant technology in the educational field, and therefore many proofs of concept are being developed. However, there are still some relevant technological, regulatory and academic issues to be addressed to pave the way for the mainstream adoption of this technology.

This research aims to explore the research domain of IT governance in the SME context. To meet this objective, a small systematic literature review procedure is used. Results indicate that IT governance in the SME context has been researched previously, albeit not extensively. There seems to be consensus among authors that IT governance is important for SMEs as well as larger organizations. Additionally, many authors indicate that SME specificities will likely influence the nature and implementation of IT governance in the SME context. There also appears to be no great variety in research strategies used in this niche research domain. Regarding the contemporary state of IT governance in SMEs, authors seem to indicate that there is room for improvement. Finally, there is no published framework for IT governance that is tailored for SMEs, although the need for this is directly reported in the literature. This paper concludes by discussing some potential directions for future research, starting from the state-of-the-art of the research domain.

Since the emergence of virtual reality (VR) technologies, many researchers have argued on the benefits of their use for people with intellectual and multiple disabilities. However, up to this date there is not a single study that presents a detailed overview of the state of the art in virtual reality as a support tool for the treatment of people with intellectual and multiple disabilities, as well as Autism and Down Syndrome. The aim of this study is to provide a detailed overview of the state of the art in the virtual reality area focusing on people with multiple disabilities, that encompasses intellectual and physical disabilities. There is still no consensus on the effectiveness of VR-based treatments. Virtual reality can offer rich environment and features, but most of the researches focuses only in the experience to be inside a virtual place without taking advantage of what benefits VR provide us. Furthermore, most of our selected studies used non-immersive VR and AR. Thus, immersive VR is an open field with many opportunities to be explored. We believe VR has great potential to be effective in the treatment of people with intellectual and multiple disabilities.

BACKGROUND The increasingly pervasive presence of technology in the operating room (OR) raises the need to study the interaction between the surgeon and the computer system. A new generation of tools known as commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) devices that enable non-contact gesture-based human-computer interaction (HCI) are currently being explored as a solution in surgical environments. OBJECTIVE The aim of this systematic review was to provide an account of the state-of-the-art of COTS devices in the detection of manual gestures in surgery, and to identify their use as a simulation tool for teaching motor skills in minimally invasive surgery (MIS). METHODS A systematic literature review was conducted in PubMed, Embase, ScienceDirect and IEEE for articles published between January 2000 and 2016 on the use of COTS devices for gesture detection in surgical environments, and in simulation for surgical skills learning in MIS RESULTS A total of 2709 studies were identified, 76 of which met the search selection criteria. The Microsoft KinectTM and the Leap Motion ControllerTM were the most widely used COTS devices. The most common intervention was image manipulation in surgical and interventional radiology environments, followed by interaction with virtual reality environments for educational or interventional purposes; the possibility of using this technology to develop portable, low-cost simulators for skills learning in MIS was also examined. Given that the vast majority of articles found in this systematic review were proof-of-concept or prototype user and feasibility testing, we can conclude that this is a field that is still in the exploration phase in areas that require touchless manipulation in environments and settings that must adhere to asepsis and antisepsis protocols, such as angiography suites and operating rooms. CONCLUSIONS COTS devices applied to hand and instrument GBIs in the field of simulation for skills learning and training in MIS could open up a promising field to achieve the ubiquitous training and pre-surgical warm-up.
